Embracing Positive Thinking

We are often faced with some challenges and hurdles in life and in most cases we end up taking the wrong decision. That is normal, but with some sort of positive attitude and staying centered on our path, we may avoid unwanted effects.

I have a short story on this aspect. It was in the early eighties that I joined high school within my home county. I was very excited to have made it that far and I had actually figured out as to what I wanted to do in life. And for that matter, my key subject was Math and the other two required fields were merely destined to hike up my grade.

Alas, some of my classmates decided to become career deans and advised me to drop Math and replace it Swahili Language. Their primary cause was that Math was not getting along very well in our school and therefore I was apparently destined for failure. That was a real test on my academics and life in general. Even so, after meditating on the issue, I came out with the verdict that I bore a life to subsist as an individual and my personal conclusion was more than crucial. And so, I went ahead and told my self-proclaimed career masters and chief-advisers that, without Math, I had no business in that formation. Initially, they believed that I was only jesting. That chapter was as good as closed and I got down to business with a cocksure attitude that I will stick to it.

Two years were over and we sat for final exams. My Math papers were real beneficial, but I learned that Swahili papers were crazy and almost all candidates who sat for it were rubbing their heads. Thereafter, the results came out and for sure and with my determination, I wrung up a strong principal pass in Math. And, overall, I attained entry points for college. Plainly cast, I prevailed.

Today, back to WA. I am fairly certain that we receive quite a number of new entrants on this situation. More or less of them may still be in a state of confusion as whether to continue with WA or to throw in the towel and look for something that can deliver quick monetary results. Or perhaps, their peers and relatives are advising them against WA. That is fine because each one of us is entitled to free expression of minds and thought. However, it is imperative that you should at the end of the day make an independent determination on the path ahead and hold fast to it regardless of what the other folks are sounding out.

Having stated that, I hereby offer you my honest and sincere piece of advice. Sweep up and cherish WA and see how your life will change within the next few months.

MERRY XMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR, 2016. Please think of the less fortunate in society.

This post rings SO true with myself, and I am sure a lot of WA members. It is wise to remember (I say this looking back at many times I have not remembered!) to be sure in the steps you take and the path you go (and continue) on.

Don't be too stubborn; be open to advice and guidance, but in the same breath, be mindful and sure of your choices so that you can go forward with confidence and not be swayed to jump at what could be a wrong decision. All the best for 2016 and beyond.
