Today, I want to share 10 simple ways to get leads on Facebook. Love them or hate them, Facebook is a beast. More than 1 BILLION people have a Facebook account and tens of millions of people visit the website every single day.

When utilized the right way, Facebook is a powerful way to get more exposure, leads and sales. On the other hand, when done wrong, you will end up wasting your time and money, and potentially damage your reputation.

What you will find below are simple things anyone can do to get leads on Facebook. I suggest you choose one or two strategies from this list and focus on those first. Do not give yourself information overload or try too many things at once. Focus is key!

The tips are listed in no particular order.

# 1 Sponsored Ads

Sponsored ads are a very cost-effective way to try out new marketing ideas. Not only can you get leads and sales using sponsored ads, but you can also survey people, split test two headlines, split-test two offers and find out what your prospects want to buy. The best thing about sponsored ads is that you can TARGET your advertising to a very specific niche.

Action Items

  • Boost a post and watch the engagement
  • Conduct a $20 experiment with your first Facebook ad
  • Split-test two different sponsored ads to see which one performs best
  • Study the ads your competitors publish and "model" what they do

# 2 Memes

People love a good meme. I know I do. Consider coming up with a few “viral” memes for your business. All you need to do is include your website on it and watch you traffic grow as your meme gets shared across the Facebook Nation.

Action Items

  • Hire a freelance graphic designer to create five memes for your business
  • Make sure your URL is in bold on each meme
  • Share the memes on your fan page and with your friends
  • See which memes get the most shares and likes and create additional memes that are similar to the popular ones

# 3 Facebook Live

People LOVE video, even more so than the written word. Facebook lets you publish “live” videos that you can stream to your followers. You can create videos about your products and services, or even better, about the benefits of your products or services. Be sure to keep your videos short and simple and on topic AND have a strong call to action at the end of each video. And whatever you do, don’t be boring!

Action Items

  • Check out what your competitors are doing
  • Take notes from some of your favorite Facebook Live videos you have watched in the past and write down what you liked about them the most
  • Do your first Facebook Live
  • Get input from your audience and a trusted peer

# 4 Private Messages

When done correctly, you can utilize private messenger to promote your business and get more leads on Facebook. Do not just spam your message to people. Instead, make it a goal to add a few new friend requests each day and send each person a private message to introduce yourself. Make sure the conversation is about them. Focus on building up the know, like and trust factor.

Action Items

  • Private message three of your fans or friends just to say hello and ask them if there is anything you can do to serve them
  • Consider sharing a few of your specials or promotions through private message
  • Ask the person, via a private message, if they are interested in receiving messages from you in the future

# 5 Start Your Own Group

Why not start your own group? For instance, if you sell weight loss products, you could create your own Facebook group focused on weight loss tips. You could provide valuable content in your group, such as videos, articles and tips for success. In addition, you could mention the products that you sell from time-to-time.

Action Items

  • Start your own Facebook group and build an audience
  • Join three popular groups in your niche and observe how they run their group

# 6 Friends of Friends

This is one of my favorite features of Facebook. Very few people use this method to get more leads on Facebook, but it works like hotcakes. If the average person on Facebook has 300 friends, and each of them has 300 friends, that is 90,000 potential prospects for your business. Because you have a friend in common, it will help break the ice, when you reach out to that person.

Action Items

  • Pick two of your friends on Facebook and check out their Facebook friends
  • Identify two people that might be a good fit for your business, product or service and reach out to them individually

# 7 Join Other Groups

Join other groups on Facebook that have people in your target market in the group. Do not be a spammer. Focus on providing value to the group and getting to know the members one at a time. Start building relationships, send friend requests, and take the relationship offline as soon as possible.

Action Items

  • Search Facebook for three groups in your niche
  • Participate in the group for one week by answering questions, offering help and providing value
  • After about one-week, start sending friend requests to ACTIVE people in these groups who might be a good fit for your product or service

# 8 Fan Page

Why not create a Fan page for your business? Provide frequent, valuable content. Keep things interesting and focus on finding more fans. Stay engaged with your fan page and update your fan page a few times each day. Be sure to boost your posts to maximize engagement.

Action Items

  • Create your own Facebook Fan page for your business
  • Write a good description, add your photos, provide links, etc.
  • Invite your current and former customers to become a “fan”
  • Publish a sponsored listing to promote your fan page

# 9 Catchy Profile

Make sure your profile photo is updated and current. Do not have your profile picture as a picture of your cat. If you are 60-years old, do not have your high school photo as your profile picture. Make it you.

Ensure your profile is open to the public. Provide your past work experience, education, and a good “cover” to ensure you give out a positive image. Whatever you do, keep politics and religion off your profile (if you’re trying to use Facebook to get leads).

Action Items

  • Visit the profile of several influencers on Facebook to see what they've done
  • Update your photo, cover, description, links, etc.
  • Ensure your profile is visible to the public (update your privacy settings)

# 10 Have Random Contests

Everyone loves a good contest. Consider doing contests with your posts. For example, the 100th person to share this post gets a free $5 Starbucks gift card. Or, you could say something like “please like, share and comment on this post” because on Friday we will pick a random winner who will be sent a free product. Sometimes you can get more visibility from a contest than you ever could with a sponsored listing.

Action Items

  • Set up your first contest
  • Evaluate a few of your competitors, or people in your niche, and watch how they use contests to get more leads and sales

You're welcome. As with my other post, this took a few hours to write, but years to learn. I hope I can help others with my own experience.

I'm sure this is going to help many others! Great job!

Thanks for sharing a lot of good information on how to get leads on Facebook. So far I have been working on getting leads organically on my website. I also work on getting leads from people I meet in person. I really do need to start utilizing Facebook though.

I look at Facebook as just one more fishing line in the water. It doesn't have to be your primary or only source of getting leads, but you should be using it.

Agreed.
