Good morning WA community!

I want to start by saying how wonderful this community truly is. The amount of support members receive is amazing. This community harbours en environment like no other. I’ve been with WA for a month now and I am greatful to be apart of it 💗

The other day while in site content I noticed the Google logo under my first published post was now in colour which means that post is indexed with Google! Quite exciting!! Only onwards and upwards from here 😊

Since you are all so amazing I’d like to run something by you in hopes for some clarity.

I was finally brave enough to request some feedback on my site. The feedback was amazing and quite humbling to say the least.

A suggestion was made that I change my domain name since it doesn’t really portray my niche. Which is true - when I purchased my domain name I was initially going in a different direction then changed my niche after having already purchased my domain.

So my question is - if I purchase a new domain and move my current site to the newly purchased one, will that affect my current post that is indexed with google? Would you recommend i purchase a new domain or leave it as is?

Thank you for your time and input! Have a wonderful Thursday!

Great questions Crissy and Congrats! On your post getting indexed.
As far as your domain goes, I wouldn't change anything at this point. It's your post that was indexed by Google.
Your choice of keyword and making sure that your title and first paragraph include that is what is important to Google. I am working on this right now on my site.
That is my understanding of Google indexing you. I have only been here a short time also and have had to go back and work on this because I wasn't getting indexed.
There are plenty of members who are much more knowledgeable than me, so I suggest you go with what they tell you. I could only hope that I am correct.
Good job and I am so happy for your small success that will lead to bigger ones. I'll check in on you again soon.

Moving forward,
Karen

Thanks Karen! All the best to you.

Congratulations!

Thank you ☺️

Hi Chrissy. You have only just started on this journey so if you want to make changes do it now. It is the blog that was indexed so changing your domain won't affect it. Jim

Thank you! I won’t be changing it.

Congratulations! That's super exciting! Like you said, onward's and upward's!! :)

Thank you!

You're welcome!

Congratulations Chrissy, so exciting for you! Domain names can be great if you really have one of those really memorable ones, but all in all it usually does little to drive traffic to your site. It is the content and the relevance of that content that really matters to the machines doing the ranking. Good luck!

Great! Thank you for that. I was hoping that was the case.

Great job Christine keep it going!

Thank you! ☺️

Hi Christine,
If I were you, I will keep the domain and may be just change the title only. Domain name is only small portion what Google is trying to see what your site about.

More importantly is the content should be related and consistent with the niche you are working now. This should save you the hassle to redo the site and might lose your indexed post in the process. And you need to spend extra on the new domain.
Congrats. Keep up the good work and all the best.

Joe

Thank you Joe! That’s the answer I was looking for. My content is all related to my niche, it’s just my domain isn’t related to the niche.

Amazing Chrissy, Congratulation.

You can change the Domain, but just a opinion I am the kind person that "I do not change a team that is winning the game". That's an expression from Country.

All success to you here at WA.

Telma

Thank you for your input!

Congrats on Big Brother (Google) finding you. I asked the same question the other day because I was changing my theme. I was told that it would not affect my content. Someone will verify soon I am sure. Have a great weekend.

Yay awesome work!

Thank you!! ☺️
