GDPR - A Last The Mists Are Clearing!
Hi Everyone
I don't know about you, but I have spent at least the last week almost tearing my hair out and angsting about how to make my Privacy Policy GPDR compliant! I have written so many draft copies, none of which I was happy about.
It is just about all I have been doing, much to the detriment of the rest of my websites!
I have been reading all the advice offered by so many really knowledgeable members, asking questions and getting helpful answers and looking up things copiously online until I came to the conclusion that I had seriously over-estimated my own intelligence!!
How was it that I still really did not know which way to turn?
Was it just me?
Well, for your sake I hope it was, but for my own sanity I really hope it wasn't!!
The Privacy Policy template on the new Wordpress update helped to clear the mists a little, but I still felt that I was wading through a bog!!
Then yesterday dawn broke and daylight began to emerge!
The reason for this was Kyle's incredibly helpful post.
If you haven't seen it yet, and I was amazed to see that so far it only has 334 likes which means that a vast number of people have not seen it, then I can't recommend it too highly.

For me, Kyle de-mystified and simplified the whole thing, and I am certainly a fan of making things simple!!
One of most important things I took from it were the advice to add a wordpress plugin called WP GDPR Compliance which, amongst other things, will add the phrase:
By using this form you agree with the storage and handling of your data by this website together with a tick box in your Comments section, which is a GDPR requirement.
The other really important information which Kyle gave us is that the Privacy Policy template on SiteContent has been updated to be compliant, and it is super easy to adapt to your own needs, once you have read all of Kyle's post.
So at long last I can come out of the tunnel and into the sunlight, and if you have been struggling like me, then I'm sure that this will be the answer for you too.
As there is only one day left before we must comply, I wish you all the best of luck in completing this task, and i do hope that this post will help you a bit.
And I for one would like to thank Kyle so much for this much-needed help!
So have a great, positive and compliant day everyone!!

I think we all felt the same about being GPDR compliant, Chrissie. It's all a bit scary when you don't know where to go. But, fortunately, we get so much help here that we should all be able to do it. I'll sort mine out today - hopefully.
Chrissie, does your GDPR plugin work, and if so, what did you have to do to get it to work?!!
I activated it, but it still doesn't show up when I click on my site. Obviously, I did something wrong, but not sure what???
Thats odd Suzi, yes mine works fine.
Have you tried deleting it and loading it back again?
If you still have issues, I'm sure Support would help you, good luck :)

Thank you for your post Chrissies. Been tearing my hair out myself too. I already have the Privacy template from SiteContent on my site. Does it really need anything adding to it? Grateful if somebody could advise if it’s ok as it is, many thanks.

Hi Susie, I compared you Privacy Policy with mine, and it looks correct.
If you are looking for something else, then you can read Kyle's blog that Chrissie talked about.
