Thoughts from a "newb"

So, I've had a certain mindset in the last couple weeks since I began learning with Wealthy Affiliate. I've noticed that my mind is very calm, that I have a patience about this "climb". As it seems to be a pretty healthy attitude to take, I figured I'd share with you guys a few of my thoughts. (I hope you don't mind.)

Patience: Affiliate Marketing, and really every online business that I know of, is a marathon. Again, I'm new to this, but it seems to me that we have to have a long term mindset to succeed here. I don't think this type of business is a sprint. It might take a few months to start really making headway. It might take me 6 months to start making any decent money. Maybe a year, who knows? It depends on how quickly (and thoroughly) I learn the material, how efficiently I can progress my site and my knowledge. I'm totally fine with how long it takes, because I know the money/success will come when I've begun to reach a large audience. If only 3 people read my site regularly, the money won't be there. I have to get the word out to the world, not just my neighborhood, and this process is not completed in a weekend.

Work Ethic: I'm trying to spend some time every evening working on my site and doing training. I've missed a couple of nights, when the stress of the work day just beat me into submission, but I'm trying to be consistent. On the weekends, I get up early and focus on my business for several hours and really try to make progress. If I don't work on it consistently, it's going to take much longer to reach the success I want to achieve.

Goals: My ultimate goal is to replace the income from my job. When I'm able to get out of my job (and my wife is out of hers), that is the definition of "FREEDOM" to me. When I can make my living on my own terms, my own schedule...when I don't have to commute to my job every day. When I can wear whatever I want to wear every day...when I can work when I want, as long as I want, wherever I want. That's freedom to me.

The END in Mind: I know exactly what I want my life to look like when I've "arrived" at my goal. I want to be able to rent/buy a cabin in the mountains of Montana and spend the hottest part of the Summer there (where it's nice and cool...), and a house near the beach in the South (or maybe even a country South of the USA) where we can spend the Winters. I'll spend my days working on old cars, working on my websites, doing public speaking all over the US, and maybe even organize training classes to help inspire people to live their dreams. We'll take a major trip at least once a quarter, and we'll always be in "just getting back" or "getting ready to leave" mode, so life will always be exciting. When we are home, we'll be improving our house, our land, doing projects, working in the garden... every day will feel like vacation whether we're home or away.

So, these are some thoughts I have. I'm so excited about this educational experience, and I'm learning so much. I hope this post can inspire some of you who are maybe not feeling so great right now. Maybe you're having a hard time learning the material. (Hey, this isn't easy!) Maybe you don't have technical skills and all of this "Web Stuff" is overwhelming to you. Maybe you've been working on your site awhile and nothing seems to be coming together. Perhaps you're beginning to wonder if you should just be happy with your job, because at least you have one, and forget about a business. (I've certainly been there!)

I want to encourage you to take a deep breath. Realize that this, just like every new thing, is a learning process. With that comes a certain learning curve. I want you to know that you CAN do this. If you really decide you're going to do it, you'll figure out a way. Hey, maybe it'll take you a little longer. Who CARES?! Won't it be worth it in the end? How will you feel when you check your account and see you've made more money in your business than you made at your job this month? If you can really get hold of what that will feel like, and keep that in the front of your mind, you'll make it.

I'm here to help you (as much as I can help anyone with only being 2 weeks in) and I know there are thousands of other (more experienced than me) people who are willing and ready to help. Just ask! If you have questions, all you have to do is post them with as much detail as you know, and you'll be shocked by the quick responses you'll get. Trust me... you CAN do this. We're all on the same team, reaching for the same/similar goals.

Let's buckle down and do the work. Can't wait to meet you guys in Vegas!

To Your Success,

Chris

Congrats Chris, for going premium and for writing your first blog within Wealthy Affiliate. Well done and to be continued. To your success, Desmond.

Thank you! There's a lot more where that came from! haha... One step at a time, though! :)

Great mind set, like me it takes what I have always said since my 3rd stroke in 2005, it takes PMA...Positive Mental Attitude. Just keep at it and it will all work out. It takes time. just be positive once in a while. Good luck and see you in Vegas someday. All the Best, Dave

3rd stroke?! Dang, that's hard core! PMA is right! Glad you're here...

Your powerful blog is full of hope and inspiration and I do believe that the head in which you have is squarely on your shoulders. You should be fine as long as you continue to work diligently on your site and continue to learn on this platform.

Thank you! I intend to do just that! :)

Good job Chris.

Curt

Your right on track, Chris. Right on, and can see this same picture for myself. I just have to really be patient sinceci basically only have about 1 1/2 days to really focus and work on this. With that in mind, I began to see that I was progressing. Thx for sharing.

Good to hear from you again, Wayne! Hey, every minute counts, right? That is, if we make every minute count!

OUCH!!! Enough said. haha. Am sure glad that Jeremy brought you onboard. You seem to pick up on stuff a lot quicker than I do. I seem to have to have my hand held on a lot of this techy stuff. Lol

Chris, you have it right. Thanks for giving a "newbs" perspective. So many want it and want it NOW without the work. You're off to a good start!!

Absolutely! I think that's true for most things nowadays. We want it now, with no effort required, and we want to make a lot more money without the effort of providing any more value. Hence the powerball success... ;)

Great inspiration Chris! And what an awesome plan you have for the future. Here's to your success :)

Thank you, Hutch! To yours as well!

What a great approach and so inspiring to others who are also new to Wealthy Affiliate. You have a great perspective and with it you will achieve your goals.I have no doubt. Keep up the great work and enjoy the progress as you go.
