Should New Members Get Full Unrestricted Access To WA Again

There's been a lot of changes to Wealthy Affiliate since I joined back in May 2012. Classroom's has been introduced, Bootcamp's been introduced Wealthy Affiliate has become more user friendly for both starter and premium members and the community has thrived in general.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that one of the biggest concerns for Kyle and Carson was giving Premium members more attention, and focusing more on the help and support side of things in their favour. This is understandable since paying members have took that leap and showed their dedication to succeed by investing in their own business but...

One of the biggest changes I noticed was to the starter members accounts. They do have restricted access to the features in Wealthy Affiliate and although the features that are available to them are perfect for getting them up and running. They aren't seeing the full potential of Wealthy Affiliate when they join.

When I joined back in May last year the sign up process was different. You had to have a Facebook account that WA could connect to and new members got full unrestricted access to all the features for 10 days.

I was on Wealthy Affiliate day and night for they 10 days scrutinising every feature available to see what I was getting for my money, and I have to be honest. I wasn't 100% convinced at the time that WA was worth it (baring in mind I had spent a lot of money previously on other courses that were basically reading material and a big scam).

But on my 9th day I had a look Jay's video classes and watched the build a niche site video, and it was only at that point I was fully convinced Wealthy Affiliate was worth the money. The fact there was weekly live webinars on every topic to do with internet marketing was brilliant and this was my biggest reason for joining WA. It was only after joining that I realised the full potential of all the other available features.

Anyway my point is this. Over the last month I have had 7 invites to Wealthy Affiliate (none of which have converted). In my review of WA I tell everyone that they will get full unrestricted access for 7 days which was true before things changed, ( I just realised I hadn't fixed this the other day), and I think this is why they aren't converting.

Also a friend of mine Connor joined WA about 5 weeks ago and it wasn't until I showed him my Premium account compared to the starter account that he got excited about joining. Again it was Jay's webinars that got him interested. He also got the chance to look through all the bootcamp phases and classrooms which made him realise the real value in Wealthy Affiliate.

It got me thinking that it would most likely be really good for new member to get unrestricted access for 7 days (with the $19 offer), and after that time they're accounts could revert to the way they are just now.

I could be wrong in thinking this is better but I do believe this would help us affiliates gain more conversions and it lets new members see the full value of Wealthy Affiliate before they join.

What's your thoughts on this ?

Chris

There are many sides to this coin... We are fortunate here, in that we actually have founders that are active and actually know what they are doing... and more importantly they share what they know with us... who does that? No one. They also have member friends like Jay that also contribute a lot to our education. It is a very unique business model created buy a very unique set of individuals. I do know at various intervals we had spammers posing as new members, and then taking advantage of the good will of helpful members only to try to attract them to their own businesses for the sole purpose of selling them and in some extreme cases posting horrendous posts about their experiences with the founders, very critical of many things in an effort to funnel them off etc. Could have been competitors, who knows... I think that is partially why the unlimited access and free memberships forever changed... All I know is I have been here a year and a half... and most of those members I had contact with in the beginning, are still around and doing their business and many of them were here before me. There is likely a happy medium in your idea. Perhaps they get to attend one of Jay's seminars... maybe get to try out some of the premium features at special times. I do know you could ask Kyle about it and he will tell you why... or why not... He likes us to share ideas and opinions. His time may be a little tight in the coming days as he first born child is due very soon... so be patient... :) Have a good evening. Julie

Hey Julie,

Yeah I do agree with you in that there are two sides to the coin here. There was a few spammers a while back I remember causing trouble in chat and discussion and stuff and yeah I think that's why full access was revoked :(.

A happy medium would be ideal if we could come to one. The folk that we're joining and making waves for the sake of it (whatever reason they had) kind of ruined things for the new members that actually came here to learn. It's frustrating because I do believe if things went back to the way they were us affiliates would have better conversions :/.

Chris:)

Chris, I think you could be right. I had unrestricted access and got a real chance to poke around and decide if WA was going to do what I had hoped.

Being a WA member for a short time (2 wks) my opinion is probably irrelevant but it seems there is a low upgrade rate as well as an extremely low rate of account setup completions. Why is a mystery to me but I think it needs to addressed.

I can only really comment on my own referrals with the likes of upgrades since I don't really know how well other people manage to convert. However if there is a low upgrade rate across the board I think it could be down to new members no realising the full potential of Wealthy Affiliate when the join due to the restricted starter accounts. Like I said a mate of mine that joined a few weeks ago never really got excited about joining until he saw my premium account and realized the full potential of WA.

There could be very valid points as to keeping it this way it's really just my opinion that giving new members full access for the first 7 days or so could maybe convert better:)
