Hello fellow WA members! I have a few questions regarding pinterest and Instagram. Those are the social outlets I have chosen for my niche. Being a very visual platform it work
Hi Cherise,
They're some good answers here. I'll just add that I mix things up on pinterest. I repin other relevant pins within my niche boards, and gain some followers, along with creating my own pins that lead to my blog. In fact, I have a blog board that's strictly for my blog with links back to them. I also create separate pins for each blog to add to my other relevant boards as well.
I hope this helps.
Isaiah 😊
In the beginning, with a new Pinterest profile, you won't have a lot of content on your site, and you won't have a lot of followers. Repinning other people's stuff helps to keep your Pinterest profile active and not boring. It's boring when you have 5 blog posts and you're repinning the same content over and over. Hahaha.
It also helps to build relationships because other Pinterest profiles will notice you're repinning their stuff, which suggests you might have relevant niches, they may follow you and possibly add you to group boards. If it doesn't happen organically, you can reach out and do more to build rapport within your niche.
Overall, repinning other people's stuff is great. I've taken several courses from people who drive hundreds of thousands of website visitors from Pinterest monthly and they teach you to start out with a 80/20 (80% other people's content and 20% of your own). As you get more content, you can level out your curation of other's content and eventually have a 20/80 split.
I believe you can direct link from Amazon to Pinterest, but I'd check in the Amazon affiliate agreement and Pinterest affiliate terms of service to verify.
Each affiliate program will have different rules on direct linking, so read your affiliate agreements closely before direct linking to make sure you won't be banned from their program for doing that.
I'm glad this was helpful. Best wishes with your pinning and Instagram stuff. Wallpaper would probably do great there. That sounds very interesting!
It's fine to repin pins from others as ultimately you want to give as much value to your audience as possible, and it also encourages others to repin stuff from you too.
Regarding Amazon photos & linking directly to your affiliate link, no, your goal should be to drive traffic to your site, then from your site to affiliate offers. By doing that you're building up the following of your site, not just firing people to offers.
And nope you don't have to make everything follow back to your site - but each post should definitely be published with at least some sort of goal in mind.
Great feedback. I agree that it's best to send people to your site. That has the best long-term benefits on your brand awareness/reputation.
