Avoid These Scams and Stay Ethical for the Best SEO
Last Update: Apr 9, 2020
I am a huge Neil Patel fan and he just shared some great information about all the scams out there that will cost you a lot of money and kill your websites SEO. I am going to provide the information in my own words and expand on what Neil said.SCAMS to Avoid Online.
Don't fall for the automatic content creation scam. There are tons of scammers advertising that their software will automatically create content for you. This content is plagiarized or scraped or spun using software and/or bots. Here is what each of those mean:
- Plagiarized content is content that someone else wrote and you just changed some of the words to make it look like your own. Google is smart enough to recognize this and will penalize you and your site.
- Scraped content is content that is copied from other sites in pieces and put on your site as if it is your own content. Usually bots of some type will do the scraping. Again, Google is smart is will recognize the content is scraped and not original and will penalize you and your site.
- Spun content is content that is copied from another source and is then spun by software to change the words using synonyms to make it look different from the original. This is very dangerous because after it gets spun it is usually not readable any more. Content has to be readable and make sense or once again, Google will recognize it and penalize your site.
Avoid Automatic Link Building Software. Link building is critical to your site and getting ranked by Google, but bad links will kill your site and its ranking. There is a lot of advertising about automatic link building that is considered Black Hat technicques because they link your site to low ranked sites and sites that are not authority site in your niche. Create awesome content and links will happen with time that are good and high quality links that will help your site. There are ways to increase your links manually but I have covered that in other articles.
Bottom line, create great content and follow SEO rules. Provide useful information to your readers. Let the links happen on their own and be patient. Make your content readable so it makes sense and helps your users solve their problems.
Here is some more great information for everyone that I previously created:
Hope this helps anyone interested in doing things the right way.
