Transferring WA-site to GoDaddy domain
I learned how to do this today, so I wanted to share it with all the newbies here. It is explained many times at the site, but even when I read them, I still did not get it. So this guide is for brunettes :D
1) Create website at WA
2) Purchase domain at GoDaddy
3) Log in to GoDaddy account
4) Click Manage-button at Domains
and choose the domain you want to use.5) Click small arrow next to the domain settings icon (black cartwheel) and choose: Domain settings
6) Scroll down at Domain settings to Additional settings. Check that domain lock is off. If it is on, click the domain lock to off-position (if the lock is on you cannot modify the domain settings) 7) Go back to My Domains and this time choose under the settings icon: Manage DNS 8) Under Nameservers click the Change button. Then Choose your new nameserver type and from dropdown Custom. Add manually WA namerservers are: ns1.mywahosting.com and ns2.mywahosting.com9) Check that nameservers are written correctly and there are no empty spaces before or after the names - then push Save-button. The GoDaddy name servers are now replaced with WA nameservers.
10) Go to Domain settings/Additional settings. Click the domain lock back on.
11) Log out from GoDaddy
Then this is a part I did not know I have to do before transferring my WA-page to existing domain. I tried to do it straight at manager with Move button and got only domain search/purchase option. So don't do it like me. Instead do like this:
1) Go to WA and Site Rubix/Site Domains and Other Domains where you can point domains registered outside of Wealthy Affiliate to WA Servers.
2) Write your GoDaddy domain name to the empty field. Again check the spelling and empty spaces (that they don't exist). Push Add Domain -button. Domain will show under this field and after awhile at your Site Rubix/Site Manager.3) Go to your Site Rubix/Site Manager. Choose the WA site you want to transfer to GoDaddy domain (the one with siterurbix.com ending). And click Move-button
4) Choose second option: To an Existing Domain and from Choose Existing drop down menu the GoDaddy domain name where you want the site to transfer.
5) Push "I'm Ready: Move My Site!" -button
6) At Confirmation push "Continue With Move" -button. Transfer takes for a while. In my case it was quite quick - only few minutes. But then again I did not have much content at my page.
7) After the transfer use the site with new domain name!

If you transfer your existing domain bought in WA to GoDaddy or another hosting service what happens to your domain after a year..are you still able to buy it from WA not being a premium member?
Once a domain registration has been transferred to a new registrar, any future renewals would be done through that new registrar. The original registration at WA (or any other registrar) would have no effect on that..
Hi everyone, what about the website bought from wa? In case anyone would lik to transfer the wa website to godaddy.com how should do it?
BobBarr, forgot to ask, what terrible things will or might happen if your domain lock is left on? Just curious.
The domain locking feature is intended to prevent unauthorized changes to your domain's settings and to keep the registration from being fraudulently transferred to another registrar. (Most, if not all, registrars default to a "locked" status which requires you to turn it off before transferring the domain registration.)
