How It's Going after Level 2

I've just completed level 2 and my infant website is coming along. Lately I'm having all kinds of ideas for content. They just pop into my head when doing dishes or otherwise in an alpha brainwave state. Reminds me of years ago when I did a lot of graphic art. That interplay between the idea and the materials was always a "high", a source of creative thought that kept me in a positive happy space. Creating this website has done that too.

With my other commitments, squeezing out time to do all of this -- thoroughly and aesthetically -- has sometimes been difficult. Also difficult is the requirement to answer people's questions: I find I don't know all these technical plugins, procedures and software -- just researching filezilla now for example.

A happy surprise has been meeting other WAers using meditation with sound and/or biofeedback (subject of my website). They have put me onto some systems I can review for the website. So if you are a meditator-with-sound or a biofeedback user, I'd love to hear about your practice, your tools and what it all does for you!

I know EXACTLY where you're coming from! My mom always said I'd get a "bee in my bonnet." With all the new ideas brought on from creating a website, it feels like a whole swarm!

Best of luck to you!

Thanks! Doesn't the swarm make you feel alive and creative?

Yes, and sometimes frustrated! I chose crochet as my niche....it's working out well, but I find choosing a craft for your website is a two-fold job.....
For example, I can link to other people's patterns and projects, or create my own. There are so many websites out there already that do the linking thing. I want to stay original and fresh. But this means actually doing a project AND documenting it while I do it BEFORE I can write a page or post on the site. So I'm learning about taking my own pictures as well as writing down patterns. The only up side is that possibly some day down the line I can SELL my own patterns as well, once I am established.
A plan, yes? Maybe I should try that meditation with sound!

Wow...you have your work cut out for you. Can you copyright crochet patterns? Meditation with sound is easy...you listen. The stress mp3 in the cat post can melt you. Might be hard to get any work done that way though...

Yes, you can copyright crochet patterns. If I were to sell them, I would do this most definitely. But many designs on the web nowadays simply use a type of "creative commons" rule. They state on their pattern how they will allow you to use it. Some say for personal use only. Some ask you to link to their original pattern and give them credit. Some really don't care.

Right now I fall mostly into the third category - just putting a few "freebies" on the site to get traffic from all those free pattern searches out there. If I can get a few people to use one of my own designs and post on Pinterest or Ravelry, and link to my site.......aaaah, just think of the explosion of traffic! (Well, that's the idea anyway)

Oodles of success to you! With all that work you deserve it!

I know what you mean, I get all kinds of ideas and then I write them down and try to organize them and then decide what is most relevant.
Nice blog! Kim :))

Thanks! I try to just remember them otherwise I end up long lists...

Hi Mori. Glad to hear you are progressing well and have inspiration for your site. Keep up the great work!

Thanks! Same to you...we both have other commitments.
