What's The SECRET to Making Consistent 5-digit Income?

Last Update: June 29, 2021

Move in, closer. I want to tell you the secret to making consistent 5-digit income.

What did you say?!

It's not possible?! And definitely not in such a short space of time!

I hear you. I hear you loud and clear.

You see, you are measuring me and my results with your measuring tape. That definitely won't cut it. (Pun intended.)

I am proof that it IS possible.

Move in, closer and let me tell you how.

1. Read, Listen, Learn And Question

When I started at Wealthy Affiliate (WA) in October 2019, I was bent and tired. I had allowed the world to wear me down by taking on too many of other people's battles.

I just wanted to find a "little something" online that would keep me busy and maybe earn me a "little money".

There was nothing grand or purposeful in my thoughts.

Within a week - one week - that changed.

Nathaniell led me here and after spending my first week gobbling up Kyle's starter training and reading how Nathaniell created his online business, I suddenly woke up to what was again possible for my life.

For the first 6 months all I did was read, listen, learn, read some more and ask TONNES of questions. I wanted to know EVERYTHING!

The investment in time pays off as you grow and develop.

2. Grow Your Network With Purpose

To kick start my network I simply worked backwards and followed the top 200 members at the time.

My thinking was that if those members are in the top 200, they must be successful in some way. As I followed members, I read their profiles to find similarities and interests and used that information to start conversations.

Again, through reading and listening, I was able to expand my connections, gain confidence and then start reaching out to selected members to ask questions about their journey and how they became successful.

We have a lot of quiet, successful gems at WA but if you do not take the time to do good research and connect, you may never know.

3. Manage Your Time Aggressively

This is where many of you may get lost quickly. You will become overwhelmed because there is so much to learn and do.

However, remember that before anything else, you are here to learn to start a business online. That should always be your #1 priority.

It is very easy to get sidetracked within our community. It is engaging and becomes like social media. You start off thinking that you will only spend a few minutes and before you know it you have spent hours "chatting" within our community.

That is good if you have some spare time but keep your learning and your business at the forefront.

In other words, be selfish.

4. Live With Your Business

If you want to build a successful business, you have to treat it like a business. That means you have to show up to and for work every day.

You have to be persistent and consistent, very determined to achieve what you want to.

This is your business. If you do not work, you will not get paid. Plain and simple. No one will do it for you.

Even on weekends, I do something for my business. Whether it is training, listening to someone else shares their successful learning and ideas, research some keywords or seeing what is trending to get ideas for content.

In essence, I live with my business and therein lies the secret to your success.

You must own this. There really is no other way.

Yes, I'm reading and learning from you, CassiOfTroy. Awesome pointers in your article really enjoyed it! It never occurred to me that following these top 200 members would be such a great idea - thank you for the tip :) We all have our own interests here at WA, and being able to find people with similar ones can make things easier sometimes - we're not just about business after all ;) Yes, staying persistent is key when trying anything new, but hey- some of my best ideas come while hanging out on this page, so I think we should keep those "off-topic" sessions going every now & then too :).

Oh yes, John!
I agree with you fully.

Creativity and inspiration are not written in structure or a pre-determined path.
It is usually when we walk on the off-beaten track that we find those buckets at the end of the rainbow. 🙂

But also stay true to your primary purpose - building your business.
Establishing your own "tribe" for that is very important.

Thank you for sharing.

Good morning Cassi,

Thank you for another excellent blog post.

First of all, I find it absolutely amazing how quickly you have moved forward from nothing, well done, that absolutely amazing!

I hear you regarding following members, this is a great thing to do especially when we interact with others. As you mentioned, there are some real hidden gems amongst this great platform. Some highly successful people that actually don't rank particularly high. There are also others who rank highly and haven't made a penny online!

Time management is very important, for me, getting up early is the best way to start the day well. I couldn't agree more with you regarding interacting in the Wealthy Affiliate community. We have to be so careful that we don't treat it like social media as time can rapidly disappear! It's important that growing our business is our number one priority. Sometimes, it is hard to get the balance correct!

Wise words Cassi; "if you do not work, you will not get paid"! It's so important to be serious about our business. I know full well that if I slacken off slightly by the end of the month there can be a considerable difference in a negative financial way!

Well done for all your hard work!

Have a great day.

Roy, I always look forward to your comments.
They are inspiring, supportive and full of little gems.

Remember my business model is a little different to most in WA.
In the short term, I have focused on aspects of the business that bring in good income such as copywriting, consulting on website design and now SEO advising.

These pieces are VERY lucrative.

Now that I have this phase well oiled, I am moving on to the medium-term.
This is where I will bring my WA MMO business to life.

It is quite exciting and I cannot wait to see where it takes me.

Thank you, as always, for your kind words.

Good morning Cassi,

It's always a pleasure to read your blog posts, as I know that they offer value and something well worth reading!

It's fascinating for me how you have really made the most out of the Wealthy Affiliate training, in a good way! To me, this is a fantastic way to do business, really making the most of everything we learn. It's also bringing multiple streams of income which is also a great thing to do.

It's great that you have found some lucrative niches to focus on, Cassi!

It's great that we will now bring your WA MMO business to life, which will open up more opportunities!

I always think it's great to have a passion for our work; you definitely have this passion, Cassi? This is actually how work should be, where we can look forward to the day ahead and be excited about prospects.

Have a great day,

That excitement feeds our determination to succeed, Roy.

It's all a mindset really.

I LOVE being a member of WA.
I LOVE supporting our members.
I LOVE achieving success so that I can share the "how" and "what" with other members with the hope that my experience will help them become successful.

In essence, I LOVE what I do - this consy=truct that I now call work.

Have a really good day.

Thank you, Roy.

Being able to enjoy what I do is a deal-breaker for me.
I have spent too many years in careers and environments that were not enjoyable.

Have a good day.

It's always a pleasure, Cassi!

Do you know, sadly, I feel there are far too many people who do not enjoy their jobs. This is very disappointing as many of us spend a terrific amount of time working.

I think far too many people become stuck in a rut and find it difficult to get out of that position. Especially if they have a family. The great thing is that people can build an Internet business up gradually and eventually go full-time, providing they are committed.

It's always good when I hear about someone who really enjoys their work, well done for making it happen, Cassi!

Have a great weekend.

Great post and certainly an inspirational target to aim for.
I spend time everyday on my online businesses, and as I’ve gotten older I’ve developed the patience and the trust in the systems that they will start to pay dividends.
Put in the effort and the rewards will come.

I'm glad you shed some light on the subject Cassi;
these are very valuable tips indeed.

I'm guilty of getting side track, there is so much
info coming at us at lighting speed, it's easily done.

Thanks for sharing so generously, and putting us back on track.

It's our business to show up for.

Yes, Melanie, it is our business to show up for and to live with.

That is the only way that we will experience large scale success.

Thank you for your kind words.
