If You Are Not Resilient And Selfish, None Of This Will Work For You!

We have a saying on our culture:

"Plain talk. Bad manners."

People usually say it when they share a hard-hard-to-hear truth. It means that although I may offend you, you need to hear the truth.

Now that I have said that, let me tell you that if you are not resilient and selfish with your online business then none of this will work for you and you may as well quit as soon as you can.

The necessary truth is:

This IS hard work . . . in the beginning.

When I shared my recent success, I received many PMs from members wanting to know what they could do to achieve the same success.

I had to very kindly redirect them to my posts over the past 16 months because that is how long it took for me to get to this juncture. And I am nowhere near to where I want to be.

Does that sound like tough feedback?

Maybe, but here's why.

You HAVE to be Resilient to Learn and Build

This is not only applicable to building your Wealthy Affiliate (WA) online business. It applies to anything you are doing in your life.

You HAVE to be resilient. As strong as I believe myself to be, I am always learning how to build my emotional muscles and mental fortitude.

The learning and technical stuff come easy. They are a click away.

But, I cannot click on resilience and mental fortitude if I am prone to giving up and running away at the first sign of some difficulty.

With that attitude, you will spend your entire life running and never stay long enough to succeed at what you are doing.

This business takes muscle, grit, creative thinking and firm self-awareness to get through the learning curve.

One of our WA members who I admire a great deal for this (and there are many) is Alicia. Alicia works a full-time job, supports her family and STILL makes time to learn, share and build her online business as though she is doing it full-time.

THAT is resilience!

Find that place in you.

Practising some Selfishness is Important

"Plain talk. Bad manners." Again.

Please do not measure this against me being an Ambassador, today. It took me over 16 months to get here, remember?

I am also not referring to being rude or cutting yourself off from people.

By saying you to need to practice some selfishness, I am referring to taking time for you and building your business.

That is your number 1 priority here at WA and the reason why you are investing so much time and money.

Start your day working on you and your business and get to the point where that becomes second nature. You will soon find that you are able to easily incorporate helping and supporting others when you feel good about yourself and your achievements and you are moving forward on 2 strong feet.

It is only if you save yourself first, love yourself first, gain the knowledge first that you can meaningfully help others.

Do have a fulfilling weekend.

Hi Cassi,

Excellent post, my friend. Some of what you have said is hard on the ears. However, I totally agree.

Self preservation definitely comes first. That's why I need to stop hanging around and get real help. Or, just leave WA.

Thank you for sharing.

All the best,
Maxine :)

You are welcome, Maxine.

We need to exercise the courage to choose and the discipline to follow through with ACTION.

Have a good weekend.

Cassi

You talking truth, Cassi.

Thank you, Maxine.

🙂

Wonderful post, Cassi. You are right in saying there are times you need to say the truth, even when they don't like it.

I ofter hear, so what do you think if we do so so. And you know it been tried and tested and you mention this, they often don't like what you have to say.

I often feel if you don't want to hear what the other person has to say then don't ask or complain.

Yes, at times, we need to be selfish.

My Priority is working on my two websites, do lessons that Kyle has set in BootCamp, which includes working on my two websites. Then and only then in the early mornings and evenings, I try to answer as many emails and blogs as possible.

We are similar, Yvonne.

As much as I would like to attend to everyone here at WA, I just cannot.
No pressure on myself at all as I am very clear about my reasons for being here.

Thank you very much for sharing.
Cassi

Yes, you speak truth...and, yes, there is the proper place to practice selfishness. When you set goals, you have to follow through with the kind of work that gets you there, and at times that requires that you be selfish...because your focus must be on what you want.

Very well summarised, Fran.

Thank you.
Cassi

It may be bad manners to tell people what they NEED to hear but it is the best thing for them. You must invest the time and energy into your business to be successful. Going through the tough times is part of the learning process. I agree that making it a habit of working on your business first is the best practice. Continue to be the Ambassador that you are. You make excellent points for us to learn and live by.
Jerry

Those are very humbling words, Jerry.
I am truly honoured.

WA is an amazing place full of remarkable people.
It is my pleasure to share as much as I can.

Cassi

It is true - if we do not put in the work WA will not work for us.

The system is there, but it does require effort. In the beginning, it is almost a direct corollary. No effort = no return.

Nothing is certain, but lots of effort can equal lots of return.

Alex

I like that, Alex:

"lots of effort can equal lots of return."

So very, very true.

Thank you.
