Thoughts and suggestions?

So I am still in the learning phase. I am on Understanding Affiliate Programs & Networks lesson. I guess I need some piece of mind. I am signing up for the CJ affiliate program and there asking for my banking account and SS# I know they need this information but the way hackers and other scams are nowadays on the Net I am just not sure about giving out the information. What are suggestions and concerns about this and is there a better way to do it.

Thanks

Captn Jack.

The simple solution to this is to open up a bank account specifically for this venture. Make sure you don't keep to much money in it. Jim

Affiliate programs will need some of your info for sure. If you’re going to be receiving commissions from them they’ll need tax info, etc.

Now, just as with WA, usually you have some kind of option to receive your payments via PayPal or another similar service like Payoneer. You link your accounts and they send commissions to your account that you then deposit to your bank

And while I haven’t worked with CJ personally, normally it’s after you’re accepted that you would set up payment details.

Hi - this is standard procedure for all affiliate programs. They need your banking details to be able to make payment to you. And affiliate income is taxable.

But do they really need that type of information for such a program? I would just say that you should be skeptical, scammers get that very information from unsuspecting people everyday. Do your home work on the company, talk to the BBB, find out their rating, call their listed numbers and speak with them directly. Also, ask them questions like why they need that type of information, what they intend to do with it, and ask if there is any other way to get involved in their company without giving out that information right up front.

Good Luck Captn Jack!
