As we start our daily routine how many of us actually think about the day as a whole.

I mean you wake up, stumble to the bathroom splash your face with water to wake up and get a blast of freshness right off the get go.

But then what?

You pat your face dry with a towel

But then what?

Do you have a daily routine?

Maybe you go straight to the refrigerator to relieve that hungry pain.

Do you sip a cup of fresh brewed coffee or tea while reading the morning news

Possibly you turn on the laptop to find out what is happening in your neck of the woods as you eat a bowl of warm oatmeal?

Did you ever think how much time you use up in a day for daily routine aspects of your life?

Do you know there is only 1,440 minutes a day!

How wisely do you use them?

Do you waste time on a daily basis?

Do you multi task whenever possible?

Or since you are retired think this is your, “me time” and move at a very reserved speed simply because there is no hurry in your life anymore.

Do you know there is only 1,440 minutes to a day!

1,440 that’s it: no more and no less.

That’s 1,440 minutes to make an impact on some else’s life.

That’s only 1,440 minutes to improve your own life.

You can’t borrow any from tomorrow.

Or gain any back that you wasted yesterday.

Plan your days wisely you only have 1,440 minutes per day.

Cool thought...breaking the day up in minutes. We do that at work for the 8 hours we are at our machines running parts through them. It’s calked OEE or Operational Efficiency Effectiveness- I think. We track what causes us to lose time running parts. So, now that you brought it up, I can apply the same principles for this business. Thanks for reminding me not to waste time here...great post.

Many production effectiveness tools can be used cross business models Robert that is the nice thing about having a business degree.

Even though my was geared directly toward the health care industry must of the principles and methods are interchangeable and have helped me in the operation of my websites.

Thanks for the comment,
Good luck here at WA
Calvin

Thanks. Now and again we need to be reminded. The day can slip by so fast. We can often look back and wonder what did we get done in those 1440 minutes.

If i remember correctly Rob, it was Les Brown that said, "we have 1,440 minutes in a day that gives us 1440 opportunities to impact someone else's life".

So essentially every minute we waste that is one less chance we have.

Interesting idea but I'm just not geared for that kind of planning. I'd go nuts. Literally. There's something to be said for spontaneity and it might not be the best money-making plan but it keeps life fun, inspiring and mysterious...just the way I like it! ;-]

I try to keep my business life and my private life on two different time tables Sue.

While my business hours are meticulously planned out to the minute, this allows me to accomplish more during those hours to give me more time for the pleasures in life.

Just because I utilize time management to its fullest for business hours does not mean I can not be spontaneous and creative during those hours.

All work and no play makes Jim have a dull day. :-D

Thank you for that reply. I was worried that you'd take my comment as an affront and that was not how I intended it. Here's to Impulsiveness and Fun in our off-business lives and to Planning and Discipline in regard to business! Thank you Cal. :-)

I don't know you personally Sue,
But from the comments that i have read of ours you seem to me to be a very nice person .

I do not think anything negative from just about any comment, I always try to see the positiveness in every comment made.

unless of course they have all those funny little squiggly characters that replace certain word and in that case things do change LOL

Love the way you worded that better than I could have done,

Best wishes,
Calvin

Hey Calvin,
I have a schedule but I will have to make sure I'm using it to the fullest!!

Tried and True

Elaine

Working smarter Elaine. is so much more efficient than working harder, and managing my allotted time for business allows me more time to do the things I like to do, fish and gardening.

I often metricize minutes Calvin!

Michael,

I am not sure what you are saying there care to elaborate more on that?

I though to metricize was to study or express in the terms of metric system?

Thanks for the comment,
Calvin

I mean count them in passing!

All 1440 accounted for. How about yours?

Maxine

LOL I would love to compare lists Maxine, just to see.

I not only multi - task almost every waking minute of the day I often am preforming 3 and 4 tasks at the same time. I have a remote mouse and keyboard, and utilize a voice app so when I am doing daily household choirs (I am a bachelor) I am producing correspondences to emails, other business related communications, or documents for one of my four websites.

And now because of the mobile app I can write comments for the WA website now as I am mowing the yawn. Mobile to read the content and voice app to post with the PC.

The last blog I wrote I used the voice recognition app and was pulling weeds outside the whole time I wrote it. Once I go inside then I just had to do a quick edit of the draft prior to posting to one of my websites.

I am often on the phone and typing at the same time which was problematic at first because the keyboard and the cell phone do not play well around each other. But I figured out that if the cell phone is blocking the path of the keyboard and the USB chip it interferes with it so now I use the speaker phone and use the cell phone 3 feet away from the keyboard problem solved. LOL

Never stopped to think of it that way, I do have a routine but now I have to pay attention to make sure I don't waist any.

Karen

Its not so much as wasting any minutes Karen.

But rather its concentrating on how we are using the ones we have more efficiently making our time more effective toward our daily goals or accomplishments.

Thanks for the comment,
Calvin

Never thought of the day in minutes! We have to make sure we don't waste any of them because we don't get them back.
Thanks for your post, Calvin!
Colette and Philip

As we get older which many of us on here are doing gracefully of course :-) Colette and Phillip.

We need to make sure we are utilizing ever minute that we can, this will help us conduct and operate our businesses more efficiently as well.

Effective practices of one discipline helps us get a better handle on all the other disciplines we should be practicing also
