What the heck is a Bit Locker!

Well, this happened to me this weekend, I got a HP desk top for Christmas last year, and went to plug in my printer. And this Bit locker came up and locked me out of my computer, asking me for a key code. Which I couldn't find.

I was sick to my stomach, where was this code at., and how was I going to get it back.

I tried everything and watched videos, called Microsoft, because apparently, it's built into my computer as a software.

So, we tried to open my Microsoft account, and still couldn't find the code, this is a nightmare!!

What do I do now? Nothing!!! They told me I have to take it in and have it fixed, so It's at Best Buy being fixed, $150.00 later and they have to put it back to Manufactured Set up. Now I'm without my home computer for a week and have to remember all my new icons I've set up for different affiliates I'm working with.

Thank Goodness my website is protected by WA, that would've been awful!! This has just been a really upsetting few days, I've been working hard on all of this, and poof it can be gone in an instant.

Especially, when I'm just learning from scratch about computer world. Best Buy said, they would remove the Bit Locker from my computer so that never happened again.

I have my laptop for now, which at least I can still keep working.

I, sure hope there right! Thanks for letting me vent:)

Dang! What a pain. Printers are evil :(

I'm very sorry to hear that, Marina! I hope that all is resolved very soon!

I would have returned it to Best Buy for a refund. My son bought a computer once from Best Buy on a sale. It didn’t work so Best Buy offered to fix it for a fee. Well, it still never worked and because they had someone “fix it” Best Buy refused to take it back for a refund. My son ended up sending it to the manufacturer and still never worked great.

We all learn this painful lesson. Keep a file, with subfolders and a second back-up on a stick for example, to keep track of all your login details, activation keys and so on.
