When you think about it, copywriting is basically digital salesmanship (the ability to persuade someone to buy a product or to influence their beliefs) via the written word.

But to be successful the writing must avoid projecting the feeling of "being sold". No one likes being sold to ... the shiny shoe car salesman syndrome.

I hear that and I don't like writing sale-like pitches either so Copy-writing is not for me but some one out there may like it.

You have your niche.
Ken

Great.

Sounds very interesting to me, I may look further, thanks.

Your first bullet point is something I have wondered about. How do you know if your writing ability is up to the challenge?

As part of my job at a local university, I am the DMCA agent which means that I am always checking for copyright violations which is the flip side of copywriting. It is quite normal to believe you are writing original content only to find out that you mistakenly included some of your research verbatim.

I only say this since it is something to be aware of whenever content is being created. I have seen people facing fines of up to $3,000.00 per violation.

Copy-scape.com can be an important tool.

Lol - My writing skill is not up for the challenge so it's a no haha. I am not a patient writer and grammar issues will creep up on me.

Still searching. What niche are you working in?

Thanks for the tool.

Before coming to Wealthy Affiliate I was thinking of trying copywriting but had put it aside. Your blog has reopened a door of possibilities. Thanks

If you feel it DOT IT. If it tugs at your heart strings answer the pull.

Copy-writing I have discovered is not for me, but I do think that I could incorporate it in something else where I work with copywriters.

I like the comment of WKnoep. Fiver is a good place to start and hone your skills. A lot of Fiver grads are making great incomes today.

Fiver has been around for so long now that I am afraid that new comers get lost in the old crowd :(

Sounds like a good niche to get in on. Good luck.

decided against it....

Cool

Well, you could start with a directory like elance and see where it takes you. There are lots of others. Or Fiver could be a source of work.

I know Fiver and Elance (I am a member of Elance) but I have been there since the site started. It is a good place if you started with it at the beginning how to you shout 'I AM NEW SEE ME' and get any kind of attention?
