Our sweet little family has been very sick

For the past two weeks, our house had the unfortunate "gift" of the stomach virus. First my son got it, then myself, and finally my fiance. I got the least of it. My fiance was horrid at one point, but our poor baby was sick on and off. He would get better for a day or two and go right back to being sick again.

At one point we took him to the ER (he, of course, would mostly only get worse over the weekend, figures) because he had 3-4 dirty diapers in an hour after already having a few earlier that day. Turns out he was by no means dehydrated (somehow, I guess through my excellent mommy care, which consisted of me shoving soup, water, diluted juice, almond milk, rice, potatoes, bananas and applesauce down his throat any chance I got) and they needed a sample to test for bacteria or parasite infection.

Of course while we were there, he never had another dirty diaper so we were sent home, and as soon as we got there, we were able to collect the sample. Turns out, it was nothing!! He was just waiting too long between eating and would eat too much at one time and his body was having a crazy time digesting it.

He's finally back to normal and I can focus on my businesses instead of helicopter momming my sick little one.

If I were to take two weeks off of a regular job to be sick and take care of my family, I would likely not have a job anymore.

I am so grateful to be a part of this community that has taught me all I need to learn to be able to take care of my family by my own means instead of relying on a crappy, annoying "corporate, sit-down-at-a-desk job".

I can work when it's convenient to me, I make up the hour and workload and I can take a break if I need to without worrying if I'll have a job when I come back.

I always have a backup way of getting paid and that's what working for yourself is all about. Have multiple streams of income so you can fall back on something if something doesn't fall through.

Just wanted to give you guys a bit of a update on our little family and to let everyone one know that we beat the bug and are back to normal!! My son has even ate 3 full meals and 2 snacks today, so he is going to be gaining back the 7 pounds he lost during his sick period (poor guy, he loves to eat, so when it just kept making him sick he got so upset and refused to eat, but the doctor said it was normal and to just let him eat when he was hungry and felt like eating) in no time. Especially with his crazy-healthy diet I feed him.

Best wishes and have a great Sunday, everyone!

Heather Montgomery

Glad to hear that, Heather! I hope the good health is here to stay.

As do I! This is only the second time he's ever gotten the slightest bit sick because he eats such a healthy diet. But the norovirus has been going around our town and we got hit with it ourselves. Inevitable, sometimes.

Glad your family has recovered. Also glad your work is. coming along

I'm glad, too!! I was about to have a breakdown over my son, he's never sick so I didn't know what to do with him being sick for 2 weeks straight.

Thank you and good luck to you
Being a mama is no 8 hour job. 24/7 is more like it. I raised three children and one grandson. Believe me you just had an easy time. Lol. Wait til teenage years I didn't think I'd make it thru with three but the grandson was a challenge but glad I was there for him.

OH I am definitely not looking forward to the teenage years. My fiance said he was a horrible kid and pre-teen/teenager, so I just CAN'T wait haha.

Health is such a precious thing. I wish you all the best for your son and te rest of the family Heather.
