Hi all,

I am using html coded affiliate links for the first time - how do I know where to insert it into my code to get it where I want th eproduct on my page?

Hope you get the answer soon.

whenever you have a question you can write it at the very top in the search and it will give you multiple answers.
I put in the following: "how to insert affiliate code" and it give me various options for adsense and others. That is really the first place i search when I'm looking for something. Also it's in Kyle's lessons. Oh and another place to look is youtube, they have great tutorials too.
Hope it helps and have a great day.

Thanks - yes I know the search bar and you tube are most always my first stops. Been there and done that - didn't find anything that really helped me which is why i asked here

If it's in your blog post you can highlight the word, click the link and put in the website address .
You can also highlight a picture, click the link icon and then put in the link.
Above would be for ordinary links.
For iframe links you can just put it in, in text mode.

If you want to put it on the sidebar of your blog you can use the widgets section to do so.
It all depends on what platform you are using to create your website/blog (wordpress? joomla, drupal etc.)

I hope this helps Bridget.

Thanks, yes, know how to do all of it into the actual text of blog. I am asking specifically re code snippet placement

Did you watch Kyle doing this in lessons?

It will depend on the type of link you are making. If iframe do it from Text mode. If ordinary link just highlight the word and paste the link.

Do I need to add a list / post / page to my site to say that I am usin affiliate links?

Even if you are not in the United States, if you are doing business with anyone who is from the United States, then you still need to have an affiliate disclaimer on your page as far as I know.

It's also important to note that if you plan on doing any business with Amazon, then you also have to have a disclosure that mentions you are part of the Amazon Associates program. This is required by Amazon in order to participate in the program.

If you need more information on how to create one, check out the training where Loes talks about how to do it here:

Whether it is the law or not, I believe it is a really good idea to do so, as I believe it helps people reading your site to gain another level of trust. Most people realise these days that we sell other peoples products but the are probably quite a few people who have no idea.

Thanks for your question Bridget!

I guess it's a good idea.

It's not just a good idea, it's required by law in the US.

OIC. Thanks for informing us.
Do you know for other countries?

There is also the EU Cookie Law that is in effect. Marion Black has training on that.

Yes, please Google 'FTC affiliate disclaimers' to fully understand how/why these are to be used in the US.

Thanks!

So correct me if I am wrong:

I am not US based but because my .com domains will more than likely be read and used by people in the US I should disclose if I receive compensation for something I review or promote?

Yes.

Hi everyone.

What is your favourite software to use for drawing up flow charts and info grams?

Microsoft Visio.

Thanks. Visio is way beyond my current budget.

LOL, well, you didn't specify a budget. For Infographics, I like Canva, though it is somewhat limited.

Yeah I found Canva a bit dull

Just found Lucid chart which seems to have a bit more to offer

Thanks! I'll check it out.

It seems like it is a bit more user friendly to me

I read somewhere that you can have more than one website on one domain.

IS this true?

If so, do all the sites you have on that domain have to be related to the dom

This could be what you're looking for

Thanks Marion. I'll check that out

Hi Bridget,
I'm very new to WA.
That's a question that had me baffled for some time a long time ago.
until i started to observe magazine and news sites. They do what you are describing all the time.

I HOPE I'M CORRECT ABOUT THIS, BECAUSE I'M NOT AN EXPERT:
your sitemap is where you define which pages get crawled by search bots, and which are kept private, on any given domain. [if your subdomain is not included in your main domain's sitemap, it won't be included.]
you then share the private link wherever you want.
you can go a step above that and lock up any pages, which is translated to 'membership access'

so in your case it would be like: moneytalk.craftybetty.co.za?

based on my hosting elsewhere (dreamhost), domains and subdomains are hosted separately and they can be different sites.
one can be WordPress
the other one can be whatever else ie HTML

it should be the same here. I would be surprised if otherwise..

There is a one to one relationship between a site (website) and a top level domain (non sub-domain).
A website is simply a collection of web pages.

There's a thing called WordPress multi-site where you can have more than one wordpress installation on a domain. The other installations can either be subdomains or sub-directories, but not both. I'm not sure WA hosting supports this configuration.

https://codex.wordpress.org/Create_A_Network

Thanks for the tips

Domain is address. You cannot have two houses in one spot.

But there are sub-domains, search in the tab above.

Domain is either with brand name in it or keyword based. Not sure what crafty implies, it does not look as related to finances.

Awesome - thanks for the info and the correct terms to search for (sub-domain). This is like learning a new language.

So just to clarify - if i had a subdomain on a domain it would make better sense to keep them related.

Thanks
Bridget

Cannot say anything, have not used sub-domains myself.

That would be very interesting to know!
