Connection timed out filezilla error fix

When you are using ftp to transfer big files to the server, you can get an error similar to this-

Connection timed out

Error:File transfer failed after transferring 188,981 bytes in 22 seconds

(or)

Connection timed out

Error:File transfer failed after transferring 'x' bytes in 'y' seconds

There could multiple reasons for this error popping up.

1. There could be a firewall problem. Your firewall may be blocking the transfer. So I personally tried shutting the firewall for 30 sec to see whether the transfer happens, but nothing changed. If this doesn't work proceed to the 2nd solution.

2. By default filezilla is defined to close the transfer of files when the file transfer takes more than a fixed amount of time say 20 sec.

By disabling the timeout I was able to fix the problem.

To disable the timeout select the Edit>Settings>Connections> Change Timeout to 0, you can possibly fix the error.

Took me hours to fix this error, hope it helps :)

Hey,

I know this is old now, but I really a little bit of help if you got the solution.

Not able to sign into my site.

Flushed dns several times.

Altered dns settings as well as LAN settings - nothing works.

It seems my ISP has blocked me from my site, though, they say they don't do this on some of their forums.

All I know and found online is not working.

Yes, I tried resetting password as well before login.

I am exhausted as I been working on this since midday and now its after ten at night.

I can access my site from a neighbors wifi no problem, but not my home one, and this is what makes me thing my ISP has blocked me from access my site.

Any help would be great.

Regards,

Philip.

Thanks for the info Brian

Cheers
