Call The Career Homicide Squad

I haven't posted for a while but I am really struggling due to a nasty surprise at work. A colleague has made some serious allegations against me (all completely false). I live and work in the UK as a nurse/midwife.

Last month on the 17th of December my shifts for the 18th and 19th were cancelled. I call the hospital to find out why and wasn't informed of exactly why, only there was an incident on my last shift one month earlier.

I was only working as a temporary/bank staff as I am awaiting some pre-employment checks to be completed to start a new job that I successfully interviewed for in November.

The next day I travelled into London to the hospital to find out what the incident was (I was really worried, as I thought the worst; maybe I caused harm to a patient or made a drug error). I was told that a colleague made a complaint about me. That I would not be allowed to work until they have investigated the allegations and come to a decision.

I submitted a statement last week Friday on the 3rd of January. So far the manager that I sent it to has not confirmed receipt nor acknowledged my emails yesterday and the day before requesting confirmation. I only confirmation from another manager who I asked what was happening. So what was distressing, has now become mental torture. I am not being informed about the situation, not offered any support and not getting an income/no savings.... I am not sure what to do, as my union said I should wait for the outcome of the investigation...before they guide me on next steps. They also offered me counselling appointment for 20 January....they had nothing earlier. After I saw the complaint in which the midwife stated that I am 'unsafe', and that I ignored instructions to take a patient to a department at a specific time, I had to wait until the 2nd of January for the medical records for the patient in question to be available for me to see what I wrote (it was a month ago and the shift was exceptionally busy, I was worried my notes would be too poorly written to be any good). By God's grace, the notes were "adequate" in my opinion...to show that the allegations were false. Now, I am not sure why the delay, why the silence, and what legally I can do or what I should expect. I am stressed and anxious and really feel like I am suffering unnecessarily... but I am just writing to ask for advice and support really... please?

Hi Brenda!

The only advice I can offer is to continue to pray for the proper outcome and trust in the timing.

Best wishes for your vindication!

Thanks for the advice Howard. God is faithful.

Oh gosh...

Today false accusations are uttered without proof... victimising a lot of integer, trustworthy people.
The new plague.

If you know your notes were "adequate", rest assured.
Are there collegues you can trust around you?
Good to know you are backed by the union.

Sending you ❤️ 💪🏼🙏🏼

Thanks for your response Fleeky. Between the 17th December and the 2nd of January, (while I was waiting for the patient file to be retrieved), I tried to get some written feedback from some of my colleagues, about 9 of them I contacted by email and phone. Only 2 of them responded and provided honest feedback.

The rest have either been silent or tell me they don't usually comment. Or just show their curiosity and then go silent.

The managers have gone silence and won't even confirm they received my statement for nearly a week after I sent it by email....and tried to find out if it arrive each day this week from Tuesday to Thursday. Very very distressing ...

Yes 🥲

Hi Fleeky (and others who commented....) I want to share something interesting. Most of my colleagues wouldn't provide any testimonials/feedback (to help me) but look at this patient feedback within 3 days of the allegations....

for some reason I couldn't down load this feedback...hope you can download this screen print attached.

Wow, if the patient stands beside you...

I understand that working as a nurse in the UK can be challenging, and it's important to prioritize your safety and well-being. If you are part of the Royal College of Nursing or have access to the nurses' union, I encourage you to make the most of those resources. Remember, you're not alone in this, and it’s okay to seek support.

If you are being accused falsely I am wondering if you might want to secure an attorney tk fight in your behalf. I do not know how that works in the uk

2

Unfortunately I don't have the finances to do that... but thanks for the advice. Really appreciate your interest/concern...

Maybe you can find an attorney who will do it for your pro bono. He wouldn’t charge you and only take a fee if you’re successful with the lawsuit if you even want go that direction.

many thanks Markh613

Its certainly a tough, emotional situation to be in and waiting can be the hardest thing to do. Sadly that's what you have to do. Consider it a blessing as years from now it might seem exactly like that. What can you do productively with this time you have been given? Take time to relax and breathe. Study/Learn more. If you have a website here, add to it. Blessings!
