Blogging has become an essential component of the online world. But creating a blog post that engages and captivates your readers is challenging.

I share some free writing style tips and tricks to help you overcome writer's block and write better blogs. I will explain different free writing style techniques, the benefits, how to practice, examples, tips, and tricks for writing better blog posts.

I want to thank Muslimah for giving me the idea from yesterday's blog postin his comment about the accessible writing style idea he states works.

Let's take your writing game to the next level to overcome writer's block.

What is Free-Writing Style?

People tend to assume that writing effortlessly comes naturally, yet even the most significant authors had to start somewhere. The most efficient way to gain more experience in your writing proficiencies is to practice free writing.

Free writing is writing without stopping. You set your timer for a specific time.

Let's say 10-15 minutes daily.

You will start writing whatever is in your thoughts. The point is not to worry about grammar, spelling, or making sense; keep writing until the timer goes off.

People find free writing liberating, enabling them to avoid internal thinking (censorship) that can block their writing development.

Benefits of Free Writing

You will often find yourself staring at the blank page or screen on your word processor for minutes (or hours) before finally giving up and going to bed. If this happens to me, then it happens to you. If this sounds familiar, then try using the accessible writing style.

Free writing is a suggested technique to avoid writer's block; it enables you to jot down ideas without preoccupying yourself with accuracy or quality.

It allows you to express yourself openly, without apprehension about judgment.

Following this constant practice of free writing leads to the betterment of your writing skills.

Free writing enables you to hone your editing proficiency; getting the initial draft down on paper (or screen) makes it possible to refine it to produce accuracy, brevity, and clarity in your writing.

Suppose you feel stuck. Try free writing for 10-15 minutes and see where that leads you.

You will be surprised how far you came from starting with nothing to almost 1,200 to 1 500-word blog post. That is how it happened to me.

How to Practice Free Writing

If you want to further your writing skills, free writing is an excellent tool. You set a timer and type whatever comes to you for that time. The goal is to keep typing without pausing, regardless of the randomness or irrelevance of the words that come out.

You can free write about anything you want, but it can be helpful to choose a prompt before you start.

Please write about anything or list everything you need to do today.

You can write some brainstorming ideas for your next blog post. Then you set a timer for 10-15 minutes and start writing.

Don't worry about making mistakes or whether your writing is any good.

The timer goes off; you can look at what you've written and see if there's anything worth expanding on.

With practice, free writing can help improve your blogging. It is easier to help you develop ideas and get your thoughts down quickly.

I encourage you to try it next time you sit down to write! Let me know how it works out for you.

Top Five Tips for Enhancing Your Free Writing

1. Commit to writing every day. I encourage you to find a time that works best for you and stick it to the schedule daily. The more consistent you are, the easier it will be to get into the free writing habit.

2. Set aside a specific amount of time for free writing. It doesn't have to be hours at a time – even 10-15 minutes can be helpful. It would help if you tried to ensure that you have uninterrupted time will allow you to focus more easily on the task.

3. Keep a notebook or journal, or use your mobile phone notepad handy when inspiration strikes. I do this sometimes on my iPhone notepad. Sometimes the best ideas come when you're not expecting them, so having a way to jot them down quickly can help keep them from slipping away from your thoughts.

4. Don't worry about perfection – just let the words flow. Free writing is about getting your thoughts down without worrying about editing. You can always go back and revise later; for now, just let yourself write freely and see what comes out.

5. What should I write about? Think about some prompts or general topics and see where they take you. If you need help, try creating a list of things you want to write about and choose one randomly; the rest will come more easily.

Some people are using Bing ChatGPT, ChatGPT, or even Google Bard to get topic inspiration. If you would like to do that, then please do so.

Don't copy and paste word for word; use your own words. The idea is to get started on free writing.

Free Writing Tricks for Better Blog Posts

If you want to refine your writing, the trick is to do a free daily report. This technique encourages you to write continuously and ignore grammar, punctuation, and any thoughts that block you when you type.

Indeed, it is a manageable method for me to create well-constructed blog posts, and it was pretty calming. This activity revealed new concepts that wouldn’t have come to mind.

Just let your ideas flow. Just do it and write!

After you finish your free writing, re-read what you wrote; the examples of different free writing styles help you figure out how to get your thoughts moving in the right direction.

Examples of Different Types of Free Writings

Different types of free writing can be used to create better blogs. Here are some examples:

Stream-of-consciousness writing:
I like this method the best. It is a writing style that expresses every thought that crosses your mind without limiting it. Stream-of-consciousness paper is recommended when it comes to getting your creative juice flowing.

Brainstorming: I love this technique because it can generate ideas for blog posts, articles, or books. You simply write down any ideas that come to mind, no matter how crazy or far-fetched they may seem. The goal is to get as many ideas down as possible, and then you can go through them later and pick the best ones to pursue further.

Free writing prompts:
Writing prompts can provide an outline for your free essay, giving you direction and something to focus on if it's hard for you to develop ideas. It could be anything from "what did I do today, "I want to write about a wealthy affiliate," a product review, or even advice about achieving better health.

Word association: This is an alternate way to brainstorm where you come up with related words. For instance, if you start with "blog," you could end up writing down terms like "post," "compose," and "subject."

Thematic writing – Choosing a focus and delving into it for a defined amount of time allows us to gain an extensive comprehension of the given subject. Doing this may yield unexpected yet invigorating conclusions.

Question-asking – Quora can be a great place to start if you're looking for blog topics. Consider the questions posted there to spark some creative writing on your part.

If you use all these techniques, you will be surprised at what you come up with!

Final Thoughts

Free writing is a brilliant way to build your confidence as a blogger, no matter how experienced field. Writing without stopping to correct or revise can seem hard at first, but you are in allowing yourself to express yourself without any barriers can improve your writing. If you're searching for practical and more effective ways of creating content for your blog, free writing is worth a try and helps you overcome writer's block.

Thanks, Brenda. Great post, very informative. I have experienced writer's block lately, so that I will try some of your tips.

It took me forever to publish my last post, still fighting blocks, but finally, it sank in Published two days ago, and it ranked the first page in the first position, so the effort paid off.

Sometimes it pays off to slow down and take your time and learn.

Now I am figuring out my next post in time with new tools!

I hope you have a great evening!

Chet

Thanks for this good information from the Energizer Bunny. I use the stream-of-consciousness method often. At my age I find that I often fall asleep waiting for the ideas to present themselves.
However, when I do wake up, I am filled with more information than I had before. At my age, there is a lot of knowledge locked away in the subconscious that, if allowed to flow, will come to your aid. Thanks for a great article

Hi Virginia, sure, you’re welcome. I can relate to the experience of falling asleep at an empty screen. You are right. Stream of consciousness free writing works. I noticed as I got older my writing is best in the mornings and early afternoon.

After that, my brain shuts off. I go to bed early. It was much different when I was younger. My best writings were during the graveyard time. I used to work nights, so writing kept me busy. I was in college and grad school when I did that.

Looking back on it now, I wondered how I managed to do that. I had a lot more energy back then than now.

Thanks for sharing and stopping by to have a chat with me. I appreciate it.

You are so welcome. I learn a lot from you. I don't always respond, but I am reading and learning. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience with all of us.

I really would appreciate it if you could respond. I like talking with you, so if you can. Please do. I enjoy being engaging with other WA members. I appreciate it.

Will do

You have lots of great information here. I use this technic if I have a topic about which I want to write, but not sure about the content. I usually force my self to write for about half an hour for three or four days on the topic. At that point, I try to build an outline from what I have to organize the content. Good suggestions.
Jim

Hi Jim, what you are doing works for you. A half-hour is excellent. I do the same thing. I prepare my outline and have it all set up, then insert the words properly. I keep going until it's completed. I go back, edit, and re-write to ensure the post is written clearly and concisely. Grammarly helps me with that. It makes the processes much easier for me. Thanks for stopping by to comment.

Great Suggestions and Ideas.
Thanks,
Sami
