What Business? Who are you? I’m suspicious!
5 TIPS ON GETTING STARTED IN BUSINESS – WEEK 1
1)You have to be Bold about your business.
You have 5 - 10 seconds to grab my attention. You don't have a second to waste. Every moment on line, every interaction is an opportunity to build your network, get a client and send someone to the check out point. So Talk!
Post your photo or logo and say who you are. Why waste a minute in hiding? If you are going to start out as a “secret” business, your business is most likely to remain in secret. You can’t build a business in disguise, nor a website until you know what you want to do. So, tell us HOW to do business with you. This is your Call to Action.
2) Say it, Claim it, and own it.
You have to first figure out exactly what you are doing, or what you want to do. This is the beginning of your plan, for example:
1.I am an Atlanta Real Estate Broker [My career]
i.I work with buyers and sellers
ii.I work with Investors and first time home owners
iii.I work with clients that are out of state and over seas
iv.I can work with single transactions and bulk sales
Call to action: My contact info is on my profile
2.I am an Executive Director with 5linx [My part-time job]
i.Our company is creating Millionaires and success stories
ii.We help people make more money and save money
iii.We have multiple products – and some people specialize in certain products
iv.I help people find their niche and get started in the business
Call to action: Click my website for more information
3.I am a Full time student studying Organizational Leadership
i.For a school project, I am developing a Team study for The Young Entrepreneurs Project [My passion] To help them create successful businesses by plugging into 5linx.
ii.I need Team leaders, mentors and sponsors to partner with me to help them and to help me with the study
iii.The study is to determine if given a turnkey system, the tools and training – success can be duplicated by anyone.
4.Our team is looking for Business leaders to sponsor a youth
to create a team – and coach them into success merely by duplicating a specific system.I am looking for a total of 100 leaders in the United States or Canada to participate in this study.Business leaders who participate will be compensated for creating successful student entrepreneurs under my study.
Call to Action: Contact info is on profile
3)Now - You say who you are what you want and what you want to do.
Be bold and proud- Show your Call to action
4)Who is your target market?
Start developing a network within your target market.
5)Research
Look for successful companies that are similar to yours and see how your niche can be of benefit to a group of people.
1.Do a Survey – (I will be adding a survey today)
In conclusion, you have to spend the time to write it down.Later, you can go back and narrow it down to be more specific. The most important thing is that you start working toward your business daily. Don’t just jump into a business. Business takes research and planning. Plan well. Then gather the tools and resources to bring it all together. Be sure to continue reading my blog for week 2 tips.
If you do not have the resources to start your own business, join the team and support the student business project. Your life experience and wisdom is a resource we could appreciate.

Thank you for sharing, it is to the point, focused and certainly motivates me to raise the bar
Great tips, these could be applied to websites as well!
Another thing - I apologize, but I'm extremely picky when it comes to format. I noticed that the fourth "bullet" point of the second tip was in bold. Was that intentional?
Hi Mike - Thanks. No need to apologize, constructive critique makes me so much better. I don't see bold. It was not bold, perhaps its on your end. Let me look again. .....No bullets in the forth point bold but I do see where I indented when I should not have. I will fix that.
Thanks again Mike!
Great post. Telling everything about yourself build trust which helps in getting you heard by lot of people.
Thanks for reading. My biggest frustration on line is seeing a service I want and can't buy it because there is no call to action page, and I don't know who the real owner or person is because of disguise. 1) What are you selling, 2) How does one buy it? 3) Who are you - that I can know who I am networking with? What is the point of all this work and no one can't get to the check out page, and you can't really develop a long-term relationship with your friends and network because either you or they are in disguise?
