What do you think about X?
I was asked in a private message about another website hosting and training service. I will not post the website or the person that asked me for my opinion. I will call the service 'X'. As I was typing out my reply, it occurred to me that I had written quite a bit that may be useful to others here at Wealthy Affiliate...so I will share it.. as a Blog Post... here you go....
What are your thoughts about 'X'?
I had never heard of the site 'X' in question before now. They have an interesting approach. I would think some of the training would be similar to what you can get here at WA. I know they can't possibly provide everything you find here. The pricing page says it starts at very low price per month... Are there upsells? I don't know. They have a lot of info available to the person before they ever sign-up. I base my thoughts without signing up on their site.
Their social media account does not have much activity, so not sure how big they are. I am thinking they are a small outfit.. No one has plus 1'd any of their Google Posts. The website is pretty. They may be simply selling someone else's service. They have a nice front end that possibly ties you to something offered by another party.
Is it possible their approach will work for some people better than the tools here at WA? Maybe... I personally think if you follow every training guide step by step here at WA without skipping them, you will be making money within a few months if you commit to the training and just do it!
My Experience
I was a website developer and Internet marketer before I joined WA in November 2012, so I had made money with the Internet and still do from clients that I had prior to joining wealthy affiliate.
In January 2013, I launched a website built by following the steps in the training here... I had it ranking #1 for a good keyword phrase within 2 months and sold the adspace to someone in that target niche industry that basically paid for my wa membership for 3 years. That client did not renew in 2014. I converted it to a page with shared revenue ads on it....it made more than $100 in 2014 without me touching it all year.
Over 2 years later, It has dropped off the ranking completely, but still manages to make a couple of bucks per month.. more than paying for the domain.
There are a lot of sites and a lot of training services out there. Some are scams, some are good services.. You may pay less for those services, but I am guessing you will not be able to generate much in terms of referral income by increasing the community.
That is one of the best things about Wealthy Affiliate, Kyle and Carson reward you for helping to bring members here.. The rewards of having a strong community with highly skilled and experienced members willing to help you succeed is hard to measure.
WA has everything you need to be successful. I think it will work for everyone, but everyone will not do what they need to do to make it work for them.\

Thanks Bo, I was hoping for more insights into X from your blog title, but if that was your reply to the question the person and me learned nothing.
Unlike many internet programs, WA tells it as it is. To create a real online business which will sustain itself long term, it takes a serious amount of work and commitment. There's always going to be other system popping up offering all the bells and whistles.
Many of these companies make impossible promises, deliberately aimed at people expecting to have it all handed to them on a plate for nothing. Most other sites don't offer the community spirit and support that WA does, that alone is worth the price :)
Thanks for the blog. I had been doing all the steps but got sidetracked. I think I need to start over.
I have YET to find anything better than WA...I do belong to a second group as additional options available...I have noticed there is beginning to be a growth of imitators out there. I prefer to stick with the original, continually improving and innovative WA!

We can certainly expect competition on the web. This is a reality that .
if it works for one, others will try to profit also, this is where you need to compare products, training and the communauty. WA is unique by the quality of all these factors and personally I do not care to try a new product to save few dollars a month.
