Did you know the soft drink Coca-Cola, which you probably have drank at least once in your life, is a profitable niche?

You can turn a nice stream of income with the Coca-Cola Market Niche, that appeals to a wide range of people any age and in any country.

In this post I'm going to share with you, how to make money in online affiliate marketing with this popular soft drink company as your niche.

HOW DID COCA-COLA START

If you want to make money in any niche, it is important to know as much about it as possible, so you can create in dept engaging content.

What you are about to read you may not have even known. It will make you understand why the name Coca-Cola was chosen in the first place.

In 1886, Coca-Cola was invented in Atlanta, Georgia by pharmacist John Stith Pemberton. It was meant to be a non-alcoholic medicinal tonic.

This nerve stimulant, brain tonic was to be used for headaches, exhaustion and personally for Pemberton, his morphine addiction from a Civil War injury.

The original recipe contained two key ingredients for flavor and effect: Coca Leaf Extract (where cocaine comes from) and Kola Nut Extract.

YOU MEAN THE STORY OF COCAINE IN COCA-COLA IS TRUE?

Yes, you read that right! Coca-Cola (Coca Leaf-Kola Nut) was not invented for being the popular soda pop it is today, not by a long shot.

Coca Leaf Extract was a common ingredient in medicines and tonics in the late 1800's. It did not become illegal in the U.S. until 1914.

The Coca-Cola being sold at that time, had about 9 mg of cocaine per glass. Talk about putting a little ZING in ones day with a glass of Coke.

In 1903, Coca-Cola removed the cocaine entirely from the ingredients. However, they still use the Coca Leaf Extract to this day for its flavor.

The only difference is that the Coca Leaf Extract they use now is "decocainized" a chemical process designed by the U.S. Government.

Since the early 1900's Coca-Cola has been using the Stepan Company, a New Jersey-based chemical company, to remove the cocaine.

Coca-Cola and Stepan Company are the ONLY U.S. companies that have an agreement with the U.S. Government to import up to 500 metric tons of Coca Leaf.

Read the Full Story about the "Secret" New Jersey chemical plant that makes the Coca-Cola flavor & cocaine.

Stepan Company is supervised by the DEA (Drug Enforcement Agency) to make this decocainized flavor ingredient for Coca-Cola.

Once the flavoring ingredient is made, the cocaine that is extracted is then sold to NJ-based pharmaceutical companies for medical use.

I know where this chemical company is. I live within 15 miles of it and I pass it everyday while working, but you can't get close to it with its heavy security.

WHAT IS THE COCA-COLA MARKETING NICHE?

"The global leader in the 'sparkling soft drinks' / 'cola' category with a strong emotional/brand positioning as the iconic, timeless, happy and universally refreshing beverage."

  • Though they advertise mainly to teens and young adults, their target audience is extremely broad including all ages, genders, social and economic groups.
  • Coca-Cola has many popular soft drink brands under its umbrella like: Sprite, Fanta, Diet Coke, Coke Zero and many others.

Great post, Rob! Coca-Cola has many niches to check out, and its popularity isn't going away any time soon. So there's a lot of affiliate marketing potential in Coca-Cola niches.

I live in Atlanta and have toured the World of Coca-Cola facility multiple times when relatives from Pennsylvania have visited. You can sample over 100 of the soft drinks they sell in other countries. It's interesting to see all of their products. If you ever visit Coca-Cola, avoid saying the word Pepsi. The corporate folks (especially) do not take well to anyone, even jokingly, saying the Pepsi word. It's my understanding that people have been escorted out of the corporate building when they've said that word. 😮

Thanks again, Rob!

WOW! That's good to know. I've always wanted to tour the World of Coca-Cola. I remember the last time I was down there, it was either lunch at a great micro brewery / restaurant in Buckhead or World of Coca-Cola. The restaurant was chosen.

As for the brand, I had great success selling their brand products when I was selling on eBay. I feel with their huge market niche and worldwide recognition, it would be a great niche to get into. They even have an entire niche just related to Christmas!

You would enjoy the World of Coca-Cola. I think ticket prices start around $23.00. The Georgia Aquarium is nearby, too. If you check out the large Coca-Cola taste-testing room, you'll leave with sticky shoes. As hard as they try to keep the floors cleaned up in a crowded room of adults and kiddos, there are still lots of spills and splashes.

Have a great day!

Yeah, I can imagine the sticky floors. You also have a great day!

This is a really interesting way to look at niche selection. What stands out isn’t just Coca-Cola as a product, but Coca-Cola as a brand ecosystem — collectibles, nostalgia, lifestyle, and emotion all wrapped into one.

You also did a good job showing how a broad brand can be broken down into very focused sub-niches. That’s something newer marketers often miss: success usually comes from narrowing the angle, not trying to cover everything at once.

The history angle adds another layer too. Content that mixes story, culture, and products tends to keep people reading longer, which matters just as much as what’s being promoted.

Even for people who don’t drink Coke anymore, the brand loyalty and collector interest is undeniable. Definitely a creative niche worth thinking about.

The Coca-Cola Market Niche is so broad and global that it actually boggles my mind, especially after I did a little research into their global brand.

I knew of their popularity outside of the soft drink market. When I used to sell on eBay, Coca-Cola Collectibles and brand related toys, were big sellers for me.

I feel that this niche has a lot to offer on a wide array of specific focused niches, plus the fact that it has a global appeal, makes it a winner. Everyone has heard of Coca-Cola.

I've known the story of its history for a long time, although I thought it was created in 1896, not 86.

Either way, I stopped drinking all soda, anything that contains carbonated sugar at least 20 years ago. In fact, for a variety of reasons, I've spent years bashing it. I won't go into that here.

However, it never occurred to me to consider the things you mentioned that could be very profitable.

You amaze me with your insight about so many things

Thanks for a great eye-opener.

You are welcome Bob and I am like you. I stopped drinking ALL kinds of soft drinks 25 years ago. It was one of the many lifestyle changes I made when I had cancer that I still keep to this day.

No matter how much I liked the flavor of certain soft drinks when I was a boy growing up, Dr. Pepper and A&W Root Beer Floats, I really don't have a craving for them anymore.

New Jersey is known for having a lot of folk lore and hidden secrets. I always knew there was something secretive about this nearby chemical plant, but I didn't know exactly what it was.

Then about 10 years ago I learned why it is surrounded by a wide security zone with U.S. Government warning signs. It makes both the secret flavor ingredient for Coca-Cola and cocaine.

To this day many people that live even closer to the chemical plant than I do, are shocked to learn what is made at this high-security facility that never closes and has armed guards patrolling the grounds.

3

The words chemicals, cocaine, government, armed security is not a good combination. It's also an indication that there's a lot of money involved. Where there's a lot of money, there's corruption. Where there's corruption...I'm pretty sure you get the idea.

I'm glad to know you're healthy. I'm a cancer survivor too but I quit drinking soda long before I had cancer.

When I did drink soda, my personal favorite was RC Cola as a kid. I also loved Dr. Pepper and cream soda.

BTW, diet versions of all of them are even worse than the regulars.

Take care.

There's obviously a ton of money changing hands in the whole U.S. government supervised - chemical company importing 500 metric tons of Coca Leaf into the country - to make an iconic ingredient - then selling the cocaine extracted to pharmaceutical companies - just so Coca-Cola can keep their original flavor. WOW!

Yeah, I knew people that would drink Diet Coke and thought they were being healthy. lol

Ah yes! Cream Soda...another favorite of mine.

Fascinating story Rob, Thanks for sharing!

6

My pleasure. I'm happy you enjoyed it!

4

You are most welcome !

4

I never stop thinking of that story every time I hear it.

I guess that can explain the real reason why coca cola was decocainized.

Myra ♥️

5

I personally do not drink soft drinks, but every time I do take a drink of Coca-Cola, I always think about how it once was. lol
