Copyright Infringement
I can barely think what to write in a post since everything in the medical field and alternative medicine areas are textbook based discussion and facts.
If I write a post about a medical condition and take the facts based on textbooks or magazine pages, and copy some of the details in the blog, is that copyright violation? Can we include this in Fair Use or not?
Also including wikipedia?
I don't want to post on anything just based on what I think or what I believe since my niche is based on medical conditions and medical facts are facts, I cannot give opinion on it.
Uhh, headaches...
I appreciate your thoughts please....

I believe DavdSweney is correct.
I'm glad you asked.
I can read the discussion and learn all about Copyrights.
I'll look at Wildrices' sited article.
Hello Ralpharm!
After reading a book of copyrights, I got overwhelmed/confused of what I was reading that is why I asked.
Thanks.

I understand your concern. I worry myself but always leave a website address where I get information to cover myself.
Hi Nadela,
Just as in an educational setting, if you use something from another writer or article to support your stance on something, as long as you cite where you are getting the information from when you use it, and possibly include a glossary, I think it should not be a problem...I am sure there are limits of course. Plagiarism is never OK...
I actually do not see that much in the blog world (citations or glossaries)...Of course I am relatively new, so I may see it more in my travels accross the internet...
If you are in a specialized niche as what you are thinking of going into, I think it would give you authorigy quicker?I think this almost might help getting ranking? NOt sure I would be interested in hearing from other members on this point...
Hope that helps!
Cheers!

Your blogs don't have to just be about your field of expertise but of problems, experiences, motivations and basically any interests.Best wishes Bliss,Marty::))
as i see it..if you put facts into your copy this is ok as long as you don't blatantly copy an article in its entirety... copyscape picks up duplicate copy, also you can get permission from people to publish as well..always good to alter a few points into your own words...as far as I now I believe this is correct..hope this helps..
I am no copyright lawyer, but I do write articles a lot. Not just at WA. My content is primarily my own, but if I use someone else's work, I cite them as author, list their qualifications and where I found he article.
That being said, WA training tells us if Google finds too much duplicate text, they lower ranking and usually list the former article in higher search results.
For me personally, I love when people use my music. I just feel that listing me as composer is only right.
Hope that helps.

I can see your difficulty here Bliss but this will be compounded by the fact that your site will be viewable worldwide and different countries have different copyright laws. I would imagine this would be an absolute minefield.
Personally I would refrain from giving personal recommendations and stick with generalities....the one thing about the English language is that there are many, many ways to say something without using the same or specific words each time......
"I am led to believe"..."I'm told that"........"I've read that"......"such and such book/paper/blog tells us that"....
......all those sort of phrases will "give" information about a source without saying you are the source. I don't envy you though!

Here is a quick primer on copy write infringement. I doesn't cover all the things a lawyer would but it will give you a frame work to follow. Good Luck.
