Getting Some Physical WA Exercise....

Today was such an interesting one! My niche comes from my passion for preserving, making pickles, chutneys, jams, and whatever else you can bottle.

So this morning Mark and myself were up at 4:30 to get ready for the annual museum fete in our little sister village of Himeville. I was up until midnight last night tying ribbons and putting labels on all my products.

Now these included apple chutney, pickled beetroot, piccalilli, banana chutney, pickled curried green beans, and peach and apricot jam. You'll find some of these recipes on my website.

Sitting there with my goods on display and watching people pass by, got me thinking. This is just putting into practice what I've been learning at WA over the last two months! The traffic moves past with maybe a quick glance in your direction. And they probably store away the sign that so clearly lets them know what I'm selling, in the back part of their brains somewhere.

Others walk straight up to you, pick out an item or two, pay, and off they go. They knew exactly what they wanted. Another couple had a look round and left without a word.

Then there was the guy with his wife and four year old twin boys. He wanted chutney, and I had only two varieties, banana and apple. He asked for advice, what do I think? It ended up in quite a lengthy discussion, with him promising to call and let me know if they liked it.

Back to those that wandered past in the beginning. Some stopped and bought, and the rest just went on their merry way. Just not interested. Not what they wanted.

So although I didn't get the chance to attend WA classes yesterday and some of today, I clearly still got in some meaningful training.

And how did it end? I found some really old recipe books, so now I can hit the kitchen again, and come back with some more interesting recipes. So no matter where I go, I'm finding ideas on how to improve my site!

A brick and mortar business is just like an online. You have customers that just want to browse. Some will inquire and not buy. While others will buy because you either explained your product to them or it is what they want. Thanks for sharing. Debbie

Nice site relating to canning and preserving. Many people still like to make their own products. Online and offline business' are very much the same.

The online and offline businesses seem to walk hand in hand.

I think you're developing a buinsess mindset! That is so cool! Tina

Thanks Tina, it's all starting to make sense!

nice post

Thanks very much!

Beautifully worded analogy Lydia!!! And sounds like a pleasant day at the local markets to boot, &.......Funny how your wins do not have to be sequential...if you are good at being aware of your surroundings (as you obviously are), then you may start noticing simultaneous wins also....Very nice!

Hi Damien, thanks! I do hope the wins start coming soon.
