Andy,
WA does not allow plugins or themes which require time to time outbound connections to remote servers, but we can check if the plugin requires only one time activation and enable it temporarily if the plugin fits into policy.
You need to get back to us with following things so it can be checked.
1. wp-admin login details of the site
2. steps to activate plugin , and required license or Key info
3. Name of the plugin and its functionality.

Why are wordpress plugins not allowed to connect to hosts?

I was just going to explain what's going on but I guess you got a reply from support already ;)
Even when I build sites on an independent hosting (away from WA) I prefer not to use plugins that require a connection to other servers, because I've seen this slowing down sites by a lot.
Sure, there are some that I still use (MailChimp related) but I try to stay away from it as much as possible.
I am glad. We need some positive vibes here. We're creating a better life, not "another job".
Thank you for your amazing mind reading capabilities and good advice. Even though they offered to do the API key fix, I'm going to use the SI CAPTCHA Anti-Spam plugin instead.
You don't know a good way to setup a Contact Me form, do you? I can't seem to get email to work because I don't own the http://siterubix.com domain nor do I have an email with it. Which is odd because I know that when I setup a new user, it sends an email to the user with their new, random password. Any advice would be helpful, but then again, I can always search for it or simply ask another question... Lol!
Have a fun and blessed day!
PS - I answered my own question. The vote is pretty unanimous here on Wealthy Affiliate, Contact Form 7!
