A resilient life
A post by jojoleong started me thinking.
He asks us to think about our lives in terms of longevity and what we would do if we knew how much time we have left on earth. At 84, I am planning on five years. My answer to his question is, "exactly what I am doing." I am an advocate for living a resilient life.
Personal resilience means we are ready to respond to opportunity and to deal with the inevitable chaos in our lives. Financial resilience means we have the resources to deal with emergencies. Community resilience means the place where we live is a livable community capable of dealing with any emergency. Global resilience means maintaining the biodiversity of the earth and reversing the trends that are causing climate change.
I am working to bring the Blue Zone Project to Kaneohe and to implement the Hawaii Hazard Awareness and Response Program in our community. Of course, I am working to improve my financial resilience.
The internet is an important tool to help me reach out to my community and to the world. What I am learning here at WA is helping me do everything I am working on better.

Couldn't agree more that the internet is an important tool for important work such as yours, Bill. I will check out your activities at your websites asap and would love to join the effort to improve the quality of our children's lives - all children everywhere. And, Bill, in 5 years you will be 89 years YOUNG, so don't count on them being your last 5 years! However, if you feel like easing up a bit then, that is a different matter!
