Merry Christmas - Half Mast
On behalf of the people of Newton, Ct., I would like to thank you for the tremendous outpouring of sympathy for the recent events which have devastated so many in that until now peaceful little town. Once again, in spite of such a horrific crime, the world has demonstrated the capacity for love and compassion at a time when all was thought to be lost. Perhaps there truly is a thing called the Christmas spirit and maybe there is hope after all.
To anyone who reads this, please say a prayer for all of those affected by this tragedy and for the Christmas spirit to spread unabated through the world.

all l can think of are the Christmas trees adorned with presents and no kids to give them to - my mother died 8 years ago and she was 73 and it still hurts - i can't imagine losing one of my kids
These families are in my constant thoughts. I can't stop thinking about them. They have my prayers and healing wishes.
Yes it is. I know some of the people involved, but not the victims. It's heartbreaking. Newtown is a completely unlikely place for this to have happened. Not a place where one would feel unsafe. Wonder how those little children are coping.
I have prayed and will continue to pray for these precious people. We don't always know why things happen, but we can still have hope when others open their heart and their arms with love.

There is a Comforter sent down from God that is the spirit of God. Jesus will give rest and healing to all who call upon Him with their whole heart, soul, mind, and strength. God bless those families, and not only those, but all those that we don't hear about. Lord knows our world has turned upside down.

there's talk of never reopening the school and the other schools in the town just reopened today - all this just before Christmas is truly overwhelming for the people of that town
I think that maybe our country would be better served by turning Sandy into a memorial for all the victims. Can't imagine sending one of my children back to a place with those kinds of traumas attached. God be with their broken families and have mercy on our nation.
