Are We Getting Soft? Pioneer Days

Back in the early days we had pioneers. A pioneer was someone who sold all his belongings except for some clothes and supplies, bought a Conestoga wagon like this one

And headed west in search of promise and fortune.

They said goodbye forever to family and friends and hit the trail. Many would not survive the rigors of the pioneer lifestyle. Then there were predators, enemies and illness to deal with as well.

The cost was everything. The reward was a new life, a land of plenty, establishing a new direction for a family, not to mention freedom and wealth!

Thar's Gold In Them Thar Hills!!

Do you for a second think that it is any different today? What are we looking for? Is it a quick and easy way to make a killing at the expense of others? Hopefully not. So why are so many backing off these days?

$50 a month? I am no rich man in terms of $$$ but I can scrape together $50 a month for something worthwhile.

So maybe that is why a lot of people back off before achieving full success. Kind of like stopping in Columbus, Ohio when your goal was Tombstone, Arizona. Nothing against Columbus, but you get the point, right? How simple and easy and quick did anyone think it would be to start a real business and get it going.

The standard business model is, "First year - loss. Second year - loss. Third year - break even maybe. Year, not week.... not month.

Sorry for being a little grumpy. If everybody quits but me, I will get ranked #1! (Well, K and C probably ain't going anywhere, so..... #3)

Come on, y'all. Get tough! Head west with me......... Load 'em up.... Move 'em out!

Just sayin

Forward ho! Wagon train going west into unknown teritory.

There is a lot to be said for patience and perseverance, Fred. We live in a time when everyone wants it NOW, if not yesterday. Takes time and effort to start a new life. And some risk.
Great blog.

If I recall even the IRS doesn't blink an eye when a business shows a loss for the first 3 years.
