Why does my featured image I try to use display so big? Even when I use the same image as in my post it enlarges on my blog roll. I tried editing but it only gets blurry and do

I kept to a basic theme and haven't had an issue.

It's always a good idea to resize your images offline.

Any free basic image editor will do the job ...

Thanks, but I tried that and it doesn't seem to matter.

I found this to be a theme-related issue; some themes aren't structured to allow image size adjustment.

In the end, I found this to be a deal-breaker with my old theme, and found a new one.

Tip: If you're going to change themes, do it earlier, rather than later. Sometimes, a theme change requires some reformatting of your blog posts, and the fewer posts you have, the easier!

Thanks,
I was thinking this too. Especially when resizing offline and the image did not change at all except for clarity.

I have the same problem, and was under the impression that you can't change this without changing your theme completely. I tried the same, reducing size, but it was blurry and the same size like yours.
From my research I was pretty sure it is just down to the size that your theme supports- and you can't change that.
Which is why I just don't use featured images, interested to see if there is a way though.

Thanks Joe, I have a few images that I put on my blog roll that don't look to bad, maybe just a little oversize. But this last one I was trying was way oversize.

See this article I wrote in WA a while back: One of the solutions there is to use an off line tool. That should do the trick for you.

Thanks David
I tried using image resize but when I tried using it as a featured image it did not resize at all only making the image blurry.

I am thinking too that it is a theme related issue.

Just an idea ….

Maybe using the offline tool I mention in my article, to the exact same size that your featured images are, and updating that revised image to WP with a new name, then change the featured image to that new name, then the theme does not have to resize the image (hopefully, depends on underlying code).

No, that didn't seem to work either David.

Thanks a lot for trying.

Bill

Hi everybody!
I am trying to set up Google Analytics, but I can't find where to activate "Universal Analytics" that Kyle said to do in the training.
Can anybody help?

If you don't see a checkmark and your website is new, then you are automatically running "Universal" Analytics now. Just proceed with the steps and you can ignore the checkbox step.

Let us know if that works for you!

Thanks Nathaniell,
I was wondering about that!
I tested my website, but it doesn't seem to be tracking yet. Maybe it takes a while.

Bill

Operating standard is Universal Analytics.
Check if you are using gtag.js tracking code. If not, retag your site to use it.

Thanks for the reply, but how do I check if I am using gtag.js tracking, and also how do I retag my site if I am not using it?

Thanks
Bill
