Oh dear. Gone from feeling excited and positive to hopeless and lost

... in the space of a couple of months. I don't quite know what's happened to me but suddenly I feel there's too much competition out there for my niche.

My niche is guitars and guitar-related products/accessories for people who want to customise and upgrade their guitars... I'm thinking that all of a sudden it's too broad a niche, or there's too many branches to cover.

Then yesterday while on Twitter, I noticed there's loads of other guitar-related feeds that share info and reviews about guitars and accessories and there's a guy who does great YouTube videos on guitars and "stuff" too, so the negative thoughts seemed to overwhelm me and grip me and tell me it's hopeless.

I was thinking to myself that all these other guitar people and places know much more about the stuff than I do.

I am considering shelving this niche and trying the affiliate bootcamp here and see where I go there.

Or, should I take a break altogether and come back in another month or two and see if I can freshen up my outlook?

I know how doom and gloom this little blog post is but I just feel a bit overwhelmed suddenly and just wondered if anyone perhaps has any suggestions or advice? Has anyone else experienced this?

Sorry for sounding a bit miserable. Thanks for reading if you made it to the end. x

Turnover of knowledge is indefinite. There will always be opportunities in most any area. There is evergreen interest.

Competition is a good thing - think about McDonalds, KFC, Burger King. They're all in the same 'niche', but there's room out there for all of them :)

Also consider doing the Bootcamp and getting another site up and running while you think about the future. As a premium member it's only going to cost you for the domain name - you already have hosting etc. right here.

Let me ask you a question. Are you passionate about guitars and accessories/upgrades? If so then who cares if someone else knows more about your niche than you? I can see how that might weigh on your mind, as I have had those thoughts as well, but I wouldn't quit. No way! Push thru it and reap the rewards! Think of it like this, you are giving your own interesting and unique take on this topic, and that is definitely worth something! So long as your advise is solid honest I would expect you to do well.

You are in a good niche, I think. I wouldn't be surprised if you already have more traffic than I do! Keep on adding new content. I would like to see some build videos or mod videos. Some before and after videos, to show the different tones or whatnot. If you like, shoot me a PM, and I can toss some more ideas and thoughts at you. I'm full of it! LOL.

Remember it takes time for a website to gain traction, too. There are also many variables to consider. Don't stop. If you quit then the only possible outcome will be that you quit!

I like guitars. :)

There is competition in every niche, your niches competition is a good thing because it tells you there is a lot of money in this niche

If there were only small competition then it means that there is no money in the niche

Competition means you have chosen the right niche not the wrong one

If you do boot camp then you will be in the make money online niche where there is much competition

Niches without competition are not worth bothering with

Thanks Barry, you make a good point too.

Can I just say to you all a big thanks. I appreciate the support and advice that you give. it does make a difference.

Much appreciated. xx

Just a quick question, it is not totally clear to me, where on your site I can actually buy a guitar, the only link I found is a little banner to the Thoman partner shop. Perhaps you could create a little store leading to the Thoman products?

Thanks Loes... yes, it's obviously not complete yet and not all the affiliate links have been added so tire's still things to add. But yes, that's a good idea about a little storefront. Thanks :)

My pleasure, success:)

What is your website URL? Perhaps if you offered us that, we could offer you some insight here.

A few months is the process in which you are just building the framework of your business, the revenue doesn't come at that stage.

The work you put forth now, will pay off down the road and many times pay off forever.

Thanks, I wasn't sure whether to include my site URL or not here, but since you ask here it is: http://pro-guitar-superstore.com.

I would appreciate some feedback. Many thanks.

Do not lose your confidence, stay motivated and take a break.
