Hey you all ! =)

I am doing some intense research on various online scams and I thought I'd ask you if you have had the unfortunate experience of being ripped off from scams? I'm pretty sure many of us have at one point invested in something we thought would turn us into millionaires in no time and I'd love to hear your stories. =)

I have been scammed a few times myself before I joined WA but since then, I am much more alert and cautious and haven't lost any money! Thank you WA for educating me! =) I haven't turned super rich either (yet) but at least I don't get ripped off anymore lol.

So my questions are, if you want to take part in this blog (without posting any affiliate links of course, please) :

If you have been scammed before

1) do you remember the name of the program(s)?

2) what type of program was it ?

3) how much time & money did you lose?

4) what have you learned since then?

Thanks for dropping by! All the best

Sarah

Hi Sarah,
Let me see, have we been scammed?? The answer is not so much yes, but how many times. (I am a slow learner, I guess).
1) I remember the names of some of the companies, some founders are behind bars, others are still out there looking for victims.
2) The programs ranged from selling on E-Bay to training that will get you into 6 figures in 6 months.
3) These events cost us thousands of $$. I lost track.
of the exact amount (over a 6-7 year time period).
4) I believe I have finally learned (through WA) that there are no "over-nite get-rich-quick) programs.

This is why were are at WA to learn how to make $$ thru effort, time and some money, not in a matter of a few months but how ever long it may take to be successful.

Thank you for your insightful posting.
Bill

Hi there. Yes I definitely have been scammed on more than one occasion. The one I clearly remember is a 'so-called' networking marketing but turned out to be a pyramid scheme. It was called Skybiz.and it sold website to people , and offered a baseline of training for newbies on how to get into the online market. It was a long time ago and I can't really remember the entire compensation plan, but I had to recruit people to join and buy website , then I would get commissioned. I have not seen a dime from it, lost a lot in the hope of getting out of the rat-race.I learned from there to scrutinize every deal and don't let emotions get in the way.

Hi Sarah and thanks for putting this out there. I have been fortunate to only have been scammed out of my time and not my money. I can't remember any specific names (selective memory), I only know that a couple of them had me watch a video advertising doing one thing and then when signed into the site found out it was something else entirely. Didn't lose money, but got mad at the untruthful approach and began researching before I fell into a trap. It was while checking reviews on a couple of companies that I stumbled upon WA.

And I don't need to tell you what I found here at WA, but I will add my personal opinion that they told me straight up from the beginning what it was going to be, and it was definately truth in advertising. Very excited about being here and what is going to be happening in my life forward.

The biggest take away for me so far is what I have gained both in knowledge of IM as well as what has changed for me on the inside. And part of that is from wonderful people like you. Thank you. Continued success to you and thanks for the desire to help others.

Dan

thank you so much Dan for taking the time to share your story with us! I really love knowing how people came across WA and what their background story with online business is. I think we can all learn from each other and build strong businesses from our past mistakes and successes!
I too have wasted too much time with things that definitely weren't worth it and WA has been my savior ! =)

I wish you the best of joy and success
Sarah

Hi Sarah,

Here is the link to read about the scam that actually led me to finding wealthy affiliate:
http://incomecashcredit.com/automated-wealth-network-review

This program was a big joke ... But the good out of it was that I started doing better research and found Wealthy Affiliate

Rob

They're all big jokes aren't they? I can tell now from miles away when an opportunity is a scam... thank you WA! lol
If something sounds too good to be true, it probably just is. Success comes with work, dedication and time.
I will check out your link, just for the sake of good old time

All the best
Sarah

Thanks Sarah. In fact the creator of the scam AWN, contacted me and asked to remove my blog about them ... You can guess what I told him LOL!

Oh I can hear it in my head pretty clearly yes =) lol

I'm confused is the scam AWN or incomecashcredit.com or both and does AWN have a website or were they the same co?

I succumbed to a few shiny new objects several years ago Sarah, chief among them was an outfit called Your Net Biz formerly known as My Internet Business.
An American company who, in return for you "investing" with one of their associates, would allow you the use of (and to sell to others) their suite of digital products.
I didn't know or understand at the time how beneficial or otherwise they would be but the words chocolate teapot come to mind.
The associate you were sponsored by made their money by selling the suite to you and you paid YNB a sort of licencing fee as well.
My "sponsor" took my money but offered nothing by way of training or support, wouldn't respond to pleading emails from me for help and I would call him a complete scam artist.
I'm not going to name him but he was very well known back then, continuing to advertise his life changing opportunity with seeming impunity......what he's doing now I don't know, "time" I hope.
I'm ashamed to admit how much he took me for but it was more than £3,500....probably about 5,000 Euros plus!
In an abortive effort to earn it all back I joined a succession of smaller "opportunities" that again promised the earth but delivered zip, like a gambler chasing his losses.
I wrote it all off and decided that IM wasn't for me but found WA almost by accident.......so happy I did and stoked to be here!
Mark

Wow Mark, unbelievable... I really don't know how these people can sleep at night. I guess silk sheets help...
Thank you so much for sharing your story, I find it really fascinating although I am sorry to hear you lost so much money =/... But like you said you found WA and that's what matters.
I wish you all the best!
Sarah

I feel the same way. I had quit all the scams I was involved in and was looking for a "regular" job when I came across WA... Miracles happen! =)
Thank you for your kind words
Take care
Sarah

Thanks Sarah, you'll understand where I'm coming from now when I say to people things like "we know what it's like to be scammed".

I'm not bitter, I've let it go and I'm a believer of taking responsibility for your own decisions so I put it down to experience.

I wouldn't have come back into this industry if it hadn't been for WA.................. if it hadn't existed I'd still be an "ex IM'er"

Good blog Sarah, take care
Mark

Took something special to get us both back in the saddle Sarah!
Mark

=) well said

I have never been scammed out of any money from an online scheme, but after participating in some online surveys I was rob of alot of very valuable time and not getting reimbursed for it.

well time IS precious, isn't it. I wasted a lot of time and energy on such online scheme when I could have spent it on more valuable things. But you learn from your mistakes. I am happy you never lost any money!
Thanks for dropping by
All the best
Sarah

I did a blog on the subject "Talking about ripoffs!" in the WA blog posting ... in there I mention the companies .... you can also go to successtoyourcreation.com and I did a post on one of my sites in this one I don't mention the companies ... when they call to line your pockets hang up the phone ... and a few more that I don't quite remember ... cheers ... Michel ... have a wonderful WA day ... :0)

Interesting, I'll check out your website. Thanks for dropping by!

I was scammed by a MOBE coach by the name of NICO MARIANO from Philippines of $3000

Thanks for sharing and I am sorry you lost so much money. I hope you will earn it back on here and make 10 times as much! Never heard of MOBE either... so many scams online, it's pretty scary

1. Pure Leverage and Empower Network
2. Type? Scam! LOL! Supposedly Internet and Affiliate Marketing - from what I knew at the time.
3. Thousands!
4. Both made to line the pockets of those before me and the owners. Not a true way to earn online. The training here in Wealthy Affiliate is the right way to learn to market ANYthing and build a website that you can SEO that isn't hanging off a sub-domain of someone else.

Proud to be here!

Omg, thousands! and I thought I'd had bad experience... I had never heard of this program before, thanks for letting us know!

I share your feeling of being proud to be here! =)

I wish much success !!
Cheers =)
Sarah

You never heard of Empower Network before? Consider yourself blessed.
