A. one step at a time

I'm trying to get back into the momentum I need to proceed. Life has been bumpy this month. Things have slowed me down so I just stopped and took a break.

While "resting" a vision appeared in my head. We had just moved to Wichita Falls and I was beginning a new job. I was going to work for a CPA in this big tall building.

My first day there could have been my last. This man was the first CPA I had ever worked for. To say he was scary is too little to say. He was a very large man and had a booming voice that made you take notice. So when I heard "Billie Ann what have you done? I really shook in my boots (if I'd had some). I couldn't imagine in the short time I'd been there that day what I'd done to deserve this roar. Let me tell you I learned that day you NEVER TOUCH AN ACCOUNTANT OR CPA'S DESK. I, being the neat freak I am at times, ruined his day. I took every thing off and did a very needed dusting. I was sure I put things back where I got them but obviously not. To me what looked like clutter was the client all laid out in the order of study. He soon calmed down and i.stopped shaking.

By this time it was lonch time. I had put a few unwanted pounds on during the winter and wanted to lose them. I tried the usual starve me diets, but when you cook for three teens and a husband , even the smell of food puts weight on you.. I'm serious, there surely wasn't any sleep walking at night, or was there.

My job was on the 7 th floor, so I proceeded to run down the steps to get my salad. That was easy. I ate my lunch and decided to run up stairs to my office. I learned very fast you don't run up as easy as down. I got winded after 10 steps. I had to rest every few steps and knew this was the first landing of seven floors. Gads!!!

Every day I ran down the stairs and every day I took one step at a time ,increasing my speed each few steps. After three months I had conquered those stairs up and DOWN and lost that extra weight plus some more. Lesson learned DO NOT TOUCH BOSSES DESK AND TAKE ONE STEP AT A TIME TO ACHIEVE YOUR GOALS.

So that's where I am again. Going over lessons learned and re learning them until they make sense.

B!
I had to smile! I once was an "intolerant" boss in the event my long suffering PA (17 years with me!!) deigned to clear up my desk clutter! There are just some of us that live in an surreal cluttered up world where, to us, there is an order buried amidst the clutter. Our desks are a bit like our brains! We thrive in the clutter and seem to know where all the disjointed bits fit together!

The stairs - what an opportunity you have been given to help lose weight and get fitter! Grasp with both hands (sorry feet) and take it exactly as you suggested - one step at a time. Of course Mr Intolerant upstairs will now moan "where are you? why you away so long?" .... best thing to do with such guys like this - a careful frown to him, and shrug of the shoulders - we sense the disapproval!!
