An Important Google Update
Good evening WA. I just came back from a Woo Commerce Meetup. One of the speakers told us he had a conversation with Google yesterday. He was told Google will be , as of January of 2017, putting a notice in the SERPs informing people "This website is not secure" if you have an e-commerce site without an SSL Certificate. I was told some months ago that Wealthy Affiliate does not support SSL. Kyle, if you are reading this, I would like to know if this is accurate. If WA actually does not support SSL then anyone with an e-commerce site will probably be looking for other hosting. I understand WA is one of many hosts who do not support SSL. Those of us with web stores should be aware of this and do our own due diligence.
Does anyone else here know of this? I just heard of it from two of the members at the meetup and I don't know what to think about it. If you have knowledge of this, please let us know. Thanks a bunch in advance.
Barry

I hadn't heard about this but it's likely to be a big factor for anyone involved in eCommerce.
Thanks for sharing Barry, this is very important update to let Kyle know. It will affect the traffic on sites that do not have SSL if this happens because visitor might think that its a dangerous site to visit.

Hmmmm.. This is interesting. I am among the many whom have an e-commerce site, so I would be interested in knowing the same thing...Thank you my fried for bringing this to our attention.
You're welcome, Steph. I actually hope it's not true, but I tend to believe those I heard it from.
I think that would only apply if your website is processing the actual payment. Most of us are just referrers to a site that handles the purchase. I could be wrong...
You are not wrong, Oren. This notice is primarily for those of us with online stores and take payments online from credit cards or PayPal. Believe it or not, there is a lot of this happening.
