Really frustrated and fed up now
'BAD REQUEST', - this is getting too much now as I can't even get on with setting up my new site! On the WordPress dashboard on a brand new site, you get the option to ''set up your home page'', along with other things such as ''write your first blog post'' etc. I am trying to o this route for the home page, as last time I did something different I somehow ended up with two home pages. But for the last week I have tried to use these links, and nearly all of them come up with 'bad request'!! I have searched others' posts and can see this has been an issue for a number of people lately, but whether Site Support realise that I do not know, as they have no issue from their end and they said to other people too. But ut's obv. not our computers if it's happening to a lot of people. I have tried teh suggestions given in those posts, delting cookies, flushing caches, etc etc, I even deleted my site and recreated it! All to no avail. Sometimes the other lnks work but teh home page one does not, no matter what I do! So, what? I can't do this site and thats it? I'm really annoyed now, because I am just wasting my time!
It's not the theme and it shouldn't be the plugins, as this is a brand new site with the standard 2 plugins, divi theme and NO content.
Also what's weird is that new WordPress doesn't list the home page under pages, that's where I'm used to seeing it, so I can't go in and edit it from there, and the theme I'm using allows you to build your content from the front end of our site as well as the back, so I tried from that side instead, except that I can't do it there either, because the visual builder will not enable on that page like it does on the samle page... as though the actual homepage is completely broken or non-existent. I tried re-installing WordPress, but that didn't work either. What the hell is wrong with it??!!
I give up.

Glad Kyle replied and explained the issue. I have been trying out themes recently and got a 'bad request' every time. Now I know it's not just me...
Wow! Thanks so much for sharing... I had the issue for the last several days when I was trying to find a new theme for my site.
I thought it was the theme, so I changed it and didn't have the issue..
I didn't realize it is going on with other people. So I will submit a ticket if it occurs again. I hope your issue is resolved soon!
All the Best to you,
~T.
No worries, I was feeling really stressy, haha.
Read Kyle's response below. It seems WP has been having a wobble of late, should be resolved soon. xx
Yes, I completely understand your frustration. Technology can really test our patience! Awesome, I am glad that Kyle and the team are working on it!
Enjoy the rest of your day!
You actually don't need to use any of those links (they are just shortcuts that can be accessed through the regular menus in your back office), this is a Wordpress issue and our development team is in touch with Wordpress to escalate a "patch" to their framework to account for this.
The patch may take some time (totally dependent on Wordpress), and there is no "patch" we can do on our end without creating conflict. Again, these are not actual issues, these links were just improperly programmed by the development team at Wordpress.
Hi Kyle, thanks.
I understand I don't need to use them for creating other pages, but I'm conflicted as to how I create the home page without going through there, since I can't do it from the front end. I once created two home pages by mistake and I couldn't then get rid of the first one. Surely my home page, (and the one I want) would be my domain http://(name).com/ the first thing people land on? I know this is what I'm after. How can I do that without the link? Or am I better just waiting until WP have resolved the issue and then doing things the way I know how and feel comfortable?
Don't give up, whatever you do. Have you tried deleting your site and starting over? I don't know if that helps, but it seems there must be something wrong - but don't give up!
Hi, I did do exactly that, lol. In case WP had installed badly or something, but it didn't work. Kyle knows about the issue now, so hopefully soon it will be resolved for all of us. x
Hi Heather -
When submitting your support ticket, make sure you include a screenshot (or several) of the issue.
It will help to explain what's going on, and may show that the problem is not on your end.
-Laurie
Thanks Laurie, I did post a screen shot and explained clearly what is happening, but they still reckon they can't help. But they must be aware of the issue as at least two other members have reported this to site support. I'm going to submit my ticket again.

Can you send me a screenshot of this. Attach it to a comment here and I will escalate heather. I have never seen this, but I will certainly escalate with our dev team and see what is going on here.
I think we can see it here. This is native to Wordpress, so it is actually the Wordpress platform that is having issues here with their latest install. Our team is investigating a fix.
There are only two links on your dashboard that you should be getting this "bad request", set-up the homepage, and the change the theme ones.
If you are getting this from any other links, let me know.
Thanks Kyle. I really appreciate it. It was happening on all those links at first, but now as far as I can tell it's just the home page one. I thought if I try all the resolutions enough times it might fox this one too, but so far no luck.
At least now I know it is WordPress. I guess they are going to have to resolve the issue and release a new update.
Thanks again. x
Yeah, it can be frustrating trying to get these pesky little bugs dealt with, fortunately this will not impact you at all as they are just links to other places in the platform that work, and are accessible to you.
RE: Your homepage
You may want to consider updating this within your Settings => Reading inside your WP-admin area. Make your "front page" your blog roll.
Ok, I'm going to give this a try. I know I want my blog roll to be incorporated on the front page, as a 'section' of it, with other bits static. I've been away for a while and cannot remember how I once achieved this before.
