How Important is Keeping a Journal ?

I am beginning to wonder why I didn't continue recording personal achievements and failures in the later part of my life. I was going through my old journals, reflecting all the entries I had created. Some were good some weren't. I realized that there was a huge gap where I hadn't done much. So last week I decided to start creating a journal diary again.

So, what is a journal and why keeping one?

A Journal is really a written script of collection of facts and reflections of events in an individual's day to day life, as well as challenges, achievements, hopes and dreams. Its about creating an individual's inner most thoughts and feelings in a book only accessible by them.

I was checking for jobs online and I came across this one for a registered nurse. While I had the criteria for the job, I wasn't prepared to leave the area I live in.

What motivated me that afternoon was that I could generate as much money as in the traditional job and more, if I put time and work into what I was doing online. I started Lesson in Affiliate Boot-camp, I came across the earnings that can be generated with hard work and consistency. With new sense of direction and determination, I started writing in my journal what I wanted to achieve each day as well the setbacks.

So far, I am taking very short steps to learning and working here in WA. What I don't achieve today, I review it at night and write it down for the next day. I make an effort to do something in here and often staying positive.

Today, this is what I wrote:

I logged into Wealthy Affiliate and tried to register a new domain name that I had purchased through Namecheap.com a few days ago. I discovered that the url was not displaying an error so I went back to Namecheap. When I checked the domain name there was a spelling error. I contacted the support service who was able to help me. Since the domain name had been created two days ago, the support staff was able to delete the url and allowed me to create a new domain name with the correct spelling and register with the money they reimbursed.

The lesson I learnt from this today was always ask if unsure and some one will help.

Thanks

I would like feedback on this please.

Thank you all.

journals are great, they describe your journey, good, bad or what ever. its really not a burden to folks who like to write. some like to write because it helps them remember stuff better, some like to write because they feel it may help someone and some just like keeping reminders of what was a current event. i luv them personally, i write and or take notes in a lot of different areas. many times it helps me sort out parts of the issue so i can make a good decision. so if you keep journals great, if not, try keeping pictures or mementos, why, cause sooner or later when you look back you most likely will be glad you did. smile, its going to be a beautiful day. :)

Ausilinc, I've only keep a prayer journal before and found I was not consistent with journaling. But I can see where it would really be useful. My 87 year old MIL who lives with us keeps a journal which really helps her remember things. I need to think about this.

Good lesson! You will never know if you don't ask.

Your so right, I should have kept more journals from my children to, now they are grown up, they come with questions I really can't answer, why didn't I wrote all those little things down...
In about a year or so, we get replies from newbee's here and than we can browse thru our journals, and say...Oh...yes....that's how I experiënced it too... Loes

very good points about keeping a journal!

it is amazing how quickly we can forget things. if we do not jot down a few notes about something that was exciting or about something that was not, we will forget. better to jot the notes while the event is still fresh in mind

all the best,
