I need some advice on Flippa

So, I have this niche website that I used the training here at Wealthy Affiliate to rank pretty high on some great keyword phrases. I'm getting between 2,000-2,500 unique visitors a month and climbing every month and have a bounce rate of only 6%. I've had this site for about 2 1/2 years now.

I have Google Adsense on this site that generates a very little bit of income but I also have links to Amazon that generate some income as well. The site can do so much better but I just don't have the time to devote to it and I just want to focus on the things at hand now.

Like everything, there is things to learn before jumping into something and I'm not familiar with Flippa at all.

I'm just wondering if those of you who have experience with the site could give me some advice and things to stay clear of so I don't get taken advantage of and can make a little bit of money with a site I put a lot of time and effort into.

Thanks so much for any feedback.

Be Blessed,

Audrey

I think it can be tough to sell a site on Flippa unless its a really solid site. It's good that it's getting traffic and making some revenue. I think sometimes you can get 10x the monthly revenue for a website, but you also may not.

You're looking at $19 just to list. Then they sell upgrades that range from around $40 - $250. From my experience I don't think the upgrades have done too much, but the sites I've tried to sell really haven't had much too offer in terms of traffic or revenue.

Some people suggest listing it for a $1 reserve to get more views, watchers, and bids. I would only go that route if you are fine with whatever price you get for it.

You do have the ability to set a reserve price. That's a potential route that you can take. You can spend the $19 to list the website and list the reserve price of what you would be happy to part with the website for.

This would allow you to try to sell the website and potentially get a price that you are happy with. If it doesn't reach the reserve price, then you can just keep them website and whatever money it's making, unless it's making less money than the domain renewal fees each year. At that point you might want to just consider doing the $1 reserve auction or letting the domain expire and call it a day.

Hey Thomas, what you just wrote confirmed what I was thinking...I think it's best for me to keep the site and continue growing it. I just need to set some time aside and get it where it needs to be and start adding more content to it again. It's done nothing but climb and has the potential to bring in some play money for my husband and I.
So I think I'm going to move forward and put some more time and effort into it.

Thanks so much for the feedback and confirming what I was feeling about the direction I needed to go.

I never used Flippa before but I did a review about it not long ago. Yours sound like an established site and it's probably best to get a website broker (either from Flippa or somewhere else) to evaluate your website before you put it up for sale.

They take some commission but at least you get some idea. There are a lot of scam-like website being sold on Flippa. You don't want to end up being like one of them.

Thanks so much Cathy for the feedback. I definitely don't want to be scammed and being in this industry I think the scammers out weigh the truthful and honest ones. That's why I figured I'd ask here because I can get some great, honest feedback, just like yours. ;)

I would always approach these kinds of sites with caution, particularly when buying any of them… they can have histories you don't know about and sometimes can't be overcome. I don't know about the sell side of it. I would ask Jay, magistudios, here at WA… or Jay Neill at G+. He has experience and knowledge of these things. Best of luck :)

Julie,
How in the world are you? It's been a long time. Thank you so much for piping in and answering this question for me. I know these sites can be so tricky that's why I figured I'd ask here first before diving in and getting my butt handed to me.
I've actually been working on a new site where I offer Hands on Training classes geared towards the 55+ crowd on Facebook, Skype and YouTube. I'm in the process of working with one of the largest Assisted Living Facilities in America to bring them Hands on Training classes to their residents. Needless to say, I've been busy hitting the pavement and getting out in the community, building the site and putting training together.
How is everything going? How are you?

Looking forward to hearing from you.
Blessings,
Audrey
