Zero Traffic. Giving up is not an option

I posted this in the Wordpress classroom but I'm getting desperate for answers.

I'm following all of the training, unless I specifically ask friends and family to visit my site, or I ask for site comments in site rubix, I get NO traffic from Google or anywhere else.

It says my site is ranked in Google. I read all kinds of posts from people excited about the tons of traffic they are getting. I feel like unless I pay someone to analyze my website I'll be stuck here in oblivion forever.

I've written 14 posts and published them, put in keywords, tags, SEO, I don't know what else to do. AND when I check site speed, it's mediocre. This community is great, but unless someone can specifically dig into my website I don't know what to do. Getting frustrated and giving up is not an option.

Can anyone help me please?!

I replied to your other post. Hope the answers there help?

You are in a very competitive vertical. You'll need more content to start grabbing a share of that market. Doesn't mean you can't do it, just may not happen quite as fast as it does in other niches. Keep adding content, participate in Facebook groups on dogs, tweet interesting stuff from sources other than your site, become very visible online and you'll start attracting people to your site. Don't just promote your site, participate online. Doing that will help you get more visitors.

You’re just beginning. Don’t worry about traffic or analytics until you have 25-50 articles. Looks like people here have given you some good feedback. Never copy and paste an article and do your best to write 2-3 posts per week between 1000-1200+ words each. Find keywords that follow the 100/100 rule of traffic greater than 100 Ana competition less than 100, and optimize each post as beat as you can with your focus keyword in tour title, url, in the first paragraph of tour post, etc.. Get comments immediately and share to atleast G+. All these practices done consistently get you ranking. Don’t be frustrated. You’re well on your way. It just takes patience. Keep it up.

It looks like that yellow header is suppose to be an ad but your site is not approved for ads yet. Also some of them titles are only having the keyword dog in them so you will need long tail key words and not just the word dog. I have a title with like 4 or 5 key words and that article is on the second page on Google for them keywords so far. Plus you don't have that many post so Google doesn't have all that trust yet. I'm having the same issue but I am starting to get some. I think maybe around 300 visitors a month right now

Thank you for commenting, I appreciate your feedback. I can't seem to get rid of or fill that yellow header. And I don't know where to go to get a fix. The keyword tip is helpful and the traffic / google issue is a vicious circle. Google won't rank me bc I don't have traffic. But I don't have traffic bc no one can find me. I think I need more work on this site. Thanks Smiddy!

No problem and that yellow bar is the code you must have placed in your editor header. Because that's how you place ad codes in the header because I have one

I see a lot of general or common knowledge posts. Do you have a target audience, and do you find actual problems that they experience?

One of your titles is "why won't my dog listen to me"

It's a very general question. The title alone doesn't create any emotions or make me curious about what you wrote.

Try something like 10 ways to get your dog to obey you.

Obey stirs up emotions, and 10 ways tell me what to expect by clicking.

Even when I read the article it's short and stays general. I was confused why it said copyright 2009 from some website.

Did you copy it all from trainpetdog dot com?

With 14 posts Google has nothing yet to go by except the word dog. Your rankings are likely that of a rollercoaster and you have more products then content.

That is what I saw when I got there. One other thing is why is there a yellow header with nothing in it?

Eric

Thanks for the tips. I didn't realize that I only had one keyword and that my titles weren't engaging enough. I'll have to work on that. And yes, trainpetdog.com is where I got the article and the reference is in the body of the post that they require you to copy and paste. I don't think I'll use that one again. And I can't get rid of that header or use it for anything. The last time I changed my theme it messed up everything and I had to go fix it all, otherwise I'd change my theme as the header comes with it. Such a hassle.

Just curious, what does it seem like my niche is? Perhaps that's what the problem is. One comment said they thought it was a training website and that's totally not what I wanted to portray.

And your comment about 14 posts and google has nothing to go by but the word dog. What do you mean by that? I use Jaxxy to get my keyword phrases and I thought that was good.

I'm an intelligent woman but this whole process is making me feel really really stupid like I'm just not getting it. I'm doing the training. Something's just not clicking for me.

I've been writing and working on this every day since January 1st of this year and I feel like I'm going in circles. Is there a feature in Wealthy Affiliate where I could get a personal coach or something?

Thanks for your help. I appreciate it immensely.

I got the impression that you were writing about dogs in general. I noticed the domain doggiemama, so perhaps you are trying to aim at women who chose pets instead of children.

That would just be a guess because doggie mama could refer to any woman with a pet dog regardless of having kids or not.

A lot of titles simply have the word "Dog" nothing about the owner. Nothing specific about a breed of dogs, age, people friendly vs I warn people about my dog's attitude.

There are a bunch of ways you can go to make it stand out, I didn't read all the articles but did notice the titles. You may want to go around and find a more specific angle.

A word of warning, intelligence has nothing to do with what happens in marketing. You either find an audience who have problems you can solve, or you try and guess.

When you guess you often end up scratching your head and asking what am I doing wrong.

14 posts vs how many dog bloggers with close to 1k posts? You are just buried in beneath the work of others.

The more specific you can be the easier it will be for people that have those specific questions to find you.

As far as a mentor, find somebody with similar values and beliefs. You wouldn't want to spend all your time arguing with that person. Does WA have a mentorship program? Not really, it's up to you to find someone who you learn from who has what you are wanting to achieve.

Look for other dog bloggers, Bo has the Bogetters group, just search Bot in the search bar for him and find the beginning of that training series.

Hope this helps you,

Eric

I too recommend you view all the Gogetter training videos from #1. They have helped me a lot. I did a ton of editing for a month and then just got back to writing new posts about 10 days ago. My new posts took shorter time to write because I had a clearer idea of what I was doing.
Cheers!

Hi Annie,
I want to say that with my website I get very little traffic or maybe a few during a week. If you are just waiting for visits from like searches, then that can take a while. If you want to consider put your website in social media like i try to do. You can make a page on facebook for your website, talk about it and post stuff etc.

Then you can do other social media and add links or posts that has links in them to go to your site. Work on getting tons of people to follow you on those social media sites and keep posting stuff about your site then. After a while you could easily get more visitors then. Just trying to help, I hope i did.

If you need anything don't hesitate to ask! I am more than happy to help you anytime I can. Have a great day!

Thanks so much! Yes, I share on social media, Facebook, Instagram, Google Plus. I did get some traffic there but I feel like I should be getting at least some organic traffic. Others are having success in the first couple of months. Perhaps I shouldn't compare but I've been working so hard and nothing to show for it yet.
I appreciate you. Thanks very much again.

you are more than welcome. I really hope it will work out soon for you. I dont think i have had much organic traffic myself, not that i can tell at least.
