On being creative

SOME PEOPLE DON'T

THINK THEY ARE CREATIVE,

BUT THEY ARE,

Want to be creative?

You are but haven't noticed. Remember yourself as a child, you didn't need much to believe you were an astronaut, or a princess or whatever you pretended to be. You were always in the creative mode. Sometimes the box was a better toy than the toy itself.

But then what happened? You are in school, maybe second grade, you have to learn to read, write, numbers, rules, discipline. you were punished for daydreaming, drawing the teacher, being a clown, and many other fun stuff. How terrible, you were being shaped to be part of the establishment.

You had stopped developing the right side of your brain; the half responsible for fun and play, the creative side. Instead your left side is super developed; it is the reasoning side, good for reading and writing or adding and subtracting. But what an irony, the invention of alphabet and math were pure right brain products, someone came up with it so that we could communicate better and buy and sell things.

Nevertheless, we are creative beings because we are part of the creation itself, so we are made of the same stuff. Every day we use our creative ability; when you choose what to wear, what to cook for your date Saturday night, or how to seduce your date Sturday night, those are all part of the creative mechanism

It's about figuring something out; making decisions from possibilities.

All you need is use the right side of the brain more; and for that you must again daydream, have fun with whatever you do, be positive and openminded; in other words, change the way you think if what you think is not taking you anywhere.

From now on you must believe that you live in a positive world; no matter how miserable or depressed or angry you may want to be when you focus on the miseries of the world that they are not going to go away because you feel that way. The world is full of success stories of people that desided so. Take Adriana Macias, who was born without arms ; she graduated from law school, wrote a book in defeating adversities, fed her child and gives seminars of self help; she cooks and eats and drives and puts her makeup on with her feet. And Annabelle Williams is a Paralympic swimming competitor from Australia. She has a congenital limb deficiency and cereblal palsy. She won a gold medal at the 2012 London Paralympic Games and alwys bears a beautiful smile.

Then there are the visionaries; Jules Verne, Leonardo Da Vinci, Thomas Edison, Frank Loyd Wright, Einstain, who said "imagination is more important than Knowledge"; George Lucas, Bill Gates and Steve Jobs (RIP). Huh? They broke the rules, had fun, were passionate. They had a purpose and the intention to be creative.

Know that everything that ever existed created by man started as a thought. Believe it is a YES world. Push the limits to no limits. Find oportunity on setbacks. believe possibilities are endless, no buts. Remove mental obstacles. Use your intuition, it is powerful. Question everything.

You can be creative, it is not only for architects and advertising folks; the difference is that some people are trained to think creatively in school and others learn on their own. And how do you learn creative thinking? Curiosity, like when you were a child; observe, listen, perceive. Failure is the best teacher; understand failure as a learning experience. Make connections, be unconventional. And read, ideas have to be fed. Creativity is problem solving. Define the problem or set a goal and define the goal; prepare yourself, define the variables that affect the solution and all its characteristics; write notes and draw diagrams; ask questions (what, where, why, who, how, and when); define a criteria and make it happen

Surround yourself with a creative environment, always stay away from negative people. Keep it simple, have fun and if it didn't work, try it in a different way.

BE HAPPY ALWAYS.

Creativity is a caleidoscope... it has many facets

Yes, there is no limits.

I am always trying to persuade everyone they are creative, creativity can be so many things and is an essential part of being human. Good advice - if it didn't work try in a different way

Thank you

I'm not very creative. But I'm trying to be

I like your honesty but the first thing you have to do is stop saying that you are not anything. change the way you think to a positive mode, find goodness on all that surround you. Stay away from negative environment. We are all creative because we are part of the most wonderful creation that has ever been, we are made of the same stuff. Read the post again, it is designed to be read as many time as needed until you are convinced that you can use your God given creativity.
Thank you Jojo I appreciate you reading my post. I am here to help if you need it.

Great post. I couldn't agree more with the entire concept of what you've written here. I love the "intuition" statement.

Keep on keep'n on!!

Great words of wisdom! Thank you!

Thank you for reading and comment.

What an interesting post. I always wondered why a lot of people say are not creative when they have jobs that expect them to problem solve. Time we all reverted to being children.

Have a lovely productive day

Lily

Thank you LILY, I appreciate you reading my blog.

Awesome, You have a great way of explaining creativity. In Genesis, God told Adam to name the animals according to their use. I suppose we were given creativity along with consciousness. Picasso stated that all art is autobiographical. That is the nature of creativity.
I like the Einstein photo. it was a poster on my wall while in Seminary in the early '80. Good stuff. Keeping moving forward. Dr.Jeff

Thanks Doc.
