I will do it later

"My advice is, never do tomorrow what you can do today!"

Charles Dickens

Especially when it relates to all the hard work you have already placed in making your website become the reality you have been seeking for while striving for that financial freedom.

Is tomorrow worth losing all you have created today?

Back up Now

Imagine that you decided to just do all your content on your website and nowhere else perhaps you feel this will save time and added effort

You might have spent hours writing and re-writing until you are happy with the great content you just created.

You add any images, links and anything else you sit back for a few seconds and feel so proud of your achievement so much so you forget to click the update button and leave it at that thinking all is done.

Did you remember what you wrote or re wrote in every detail?

Although this scenario may be a bit toward the extreme, things happen, perhaps a bit too much overconfidence that nothing will happen to you because this happens to other people.

This can be so frustrating even more so for those new to Wealthy Affiliate who may not fully understand the importance of backing up your work.

Don't put all your eggs in one basket

This is such an important procedure to take, regardless of whether you are adding plugins, changing images already within your page or post, changing themes, or for anything else that requires a change even major updates it is best to save your work prior to making any changes.

This can be done via plugins, FTP or within your computer such as Word (More on these later).

Yes Wealthy Affiliate may have a backup of your website but never leave all your eggs in the one basket.

Once my website broke down which in the end was a result of a couple of new plugins that clashed with what I had already as well as the theme I was using at the time.

Although my work was saved elsewhere and the content was fine and unchanged however many images I had already within my pages and posts were broken and in my media library within WordPress many disappeared and Site Support were not able to bring them back.

Site Support are awesome but they can’t do everything (pretty close).

Fortunately I already had any images I used saved within my Word file it was a nuisance but I got them replaced after a painstaking time.

So glad I had a backup of all my images and posts.

Sometimes things happen so having another backup outside of WordPress or WA is vital.

There is a great post by Marion on how to back up your work with a plugin.

https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/full-backup-with-a-plugin

Another revamped and recent training post by Marion is "Backup your website with FTP" if you are not sure what FTP is then go to her training and Marion will explain this to you.

https://my.wealthyaffiliate.co...

I personally save all my pages and posts in Word then when I am ready add them to my website and once all is ready I click the update button in WordPress I view the work then I copy and paste it all back into that same file in word.

This way what I have saved is the exact replica of what is on my websiteso if anything goes wrong I can either adjust or re do that page or post knowing I haven’t lost anything.

For those who wish to read how you can save your work via word you can check out my training lessons on this below

https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/creating-folders-files-and-saving-your-work-with-ms-word

So please back up your work today, not later, not tomorrow not next time you get back on your website.

Do it today

Wishing you well along your online journey and keep believing in yourself.

Don’t forget to like whichever training you go to you.

I KNOW, I KNOW. You're so right and I'm so bad about it although I do have all my stuff in Word. However when I get into WP, I change some content and add images. Big bro is right........

~Lil sis

Thank you, Sis good to hear from you.

Great to hear you are saving in Word.

Whenever I do make any additions or changes to my post once completed I always copy and paste everything as is from the website back to my original post in Word.

That way it is also updated and exact to what the website would be.

Have a wonderful weekend Sis xo :)

Good to hear from you, Sis.

Glad you are saving your work.

Whenever I make any changes be it from Word to the website or visa versa.

I always ensure that when the website post is completed and updated.

I copy and paste it all back to my original work in Word as my last action.

That way it is exactly the same as the website.

Have a great weekend coming up sis.
Bro mo xo :)

Great reminder! I back up often and always before adding a new plugin, theme or making any changes.

Thank you Jean yes backing up your work should be a first prioty. We can easily forget and take some things for granted.
Wishing you a great week what's left of it and an even greater weekend.
Andre

We are of one accord on this Andre. I backup my site every single day.

Yes, we are Marion.

I had a feeling you would be the first one on this to respond.

Must be that Aussie spirit that is always there.

Have a great afternoon Marion and thank you once more not just for this visit but for all the support you have given us all.

Your latest post came just in time as I was about to publish this earlier then I saw your post in the dashboard.

Namaste my friend.:)
