Finally getting a car
I'm about to get back on my feet. My 2014 Honda accord died about a month ago. I'm getting another car today. It's a 2012 Chevy cruze. It has very low miles and was well maintained so it should last a couple of years before I have to do any major work to it. While I'm driving that car around I'll be saving to get a newer car in case something happens to it when I hit around 150-200k miles. My job depends on me having a car and phone service. If I lose either of those I will be unable to work until I restore phone service or get the car fixed/replaced. The only back up plan is to make sure I have a hefty savings to cover repairs and maybe avoid car payments all together.
I do gig work for a living, Specifically food delivery. Driving that much a car takes a hell of a beating even if it's well maintained. My old car lasted 3 years. I hit the 200k mile mark and it died. The Transmission went. I can't fix that it would cost more than the whole car is worth.

Many congratulations on your new vehicle Angela!
It certainly sounds like in your line of work a fully functional one is essential!
All the very best for the future my friend!
yes it is! and when the transmission goes out and the car won't budge that puts me out of work. Glad to be mobile again.
Hi Angela,
I used to have a Honda Civic. My late husband called those cars rice burners. He did not like me driving it. I purchased a Chevy Lumina. It lasted for years (sedan style). I did try the Chevy Cruze before I bought the Lumina. Stephen, my late husband (he died six years ago), hated small cars. He was 6'2, very tall, and the Honda and Cruze left him no legroom. That's why I got the Lumina after selling my Honda Civic. I did have tranny problem with the Civic. I had it replaced twice.
I am glad you got the Cruze. I do not drive anymore, but this was when I could. Due to health issues, I am unable to drive or walk. I do have an electric wheelchair, but its motor is not a Harley Davidson which I wish it were so I could go faster. Oh well. I am glad you are getting back on your feet.
Congratulations!
Everybody swore Honda was a good car but my Transmission died with 0 warning so in my opinion not that great of a car.
My late husband always called Honda "a rice burner." As you said, they were good cars only for a while. I got stuck in the middle of nowhere in the flatlands of north Dakota near the Manitoba border in Canada with my Honda Civic during the summer of 1997. I found out my tranny broke, and the clutch broke too. It was a five-speed manual stick. There was no warning either. Luckily, a farmer stopped to help me and towed it to a tiny town of 300 people, mostly farm land in North Dakota, where they fixed it. It was cheaper in the small town than in the big city. I am grateful you have a better car; it's worth the buy.
I'm glad to hear that you are getting a car, Angela! I was in the same boat a few months ago, until I got a decent used truck! Good for you, my friend!

Apologies in advance Jeffrey, I see a door slightly ajar here!!!
I was always under the impression that you had a substantial amount of vehicles in your fleet my friend!

Yes, I do, and I was in the same boat Angela was in--they aren't worth fixing with limited finances right now.
