The Decision Has Been Made...

The name I chose for my website is livluvlaugh.com ...the lighter side of life!

The purpose is to share my life's journey, the things, people, places I love and LAUGHTER lots of LAUGHTER!!! When you are laughing you can't help but feel happy even if it's just for that moment.

My audience Is People that want something MORE from LIFE, more specifically WOMEN because well, I am WOMAN hear me ROAR!

My plan to make $$$ is through the WA Affiliate program and Amazon (my ALL time favorite place in the world to shop).

The PROBLEM is I need a more Targeted audience because WOMEN is too Broad. I am stuck with narrowing the audience down. I have read a lot on finding your Niche and Targeting your audience but for some reason it is just NOT clicking for me.

I humbly ask the WA community for Help,Tips or ideas so I can get on with it already. Thank you for your time in reading this post!

lol...good luck!

I would like to add something but I can't top the answers posted here. What a wonderful idea for a website though!

Thank you SandyL...I believe that too, from the top of my head, to the tips of my toes and all the way around my XL backside!

The point of narrowing a targeted website niche is to find a profitable place in a competitive market where the competition is not so broad that you cannot standout. "People who love to laugh" is not a niche because everyone, men, women, young and old love to laugh.

Targeting women is a good idea but women who love to laugh appeals to almost all women (hopefully). I think what you hit upon is the POV (point of view) you want to come from so that your website has an entertainment factor...a GOOD thing. Let your natural sense of humor come through as you develop your website.

Select your specific niche by thinking about the following:
1) What issues, challenges or problems do women have that you can write about and provide money-making solutions for? (raising a family, homeschooling, single-parenting, finding a job, making money from home, work-life balance, marriage relationships, career advancement, workplace equality, losing weight, staying healthy and fit, taking care of babies, safety issues, organizing, cooking healthy on a budget, etc.)

2) What likes, interests or hobbies do women have that you can write about that could lead to product/program purchases? (saving money, keeping kids entertained, crafting, canning, gardening, decorating, family travel, art, music, entertaining etc.)

3) What are the latest trends or fads among women? (eco-friendly products, getting in shape with kettle bells, fashion trends, etc.)

4) Next research the big niche dominators like Amazon, Dummies.com, Affiliate Networks, the magazine rack at Barnes and Nobel, top fifty websites for women and see what women are buying. there is no point in developing a website unless you can make money!

5) Narrow your niche ideas down to your top three. Research low-hanging fruit keywords in each. Make sure you have a couple of dozen low-competition keywords to develop your blog posts.

6) Make a list of article titles using a keyword in each article title that you could write about. The topic that you find yourself brainstorming easily about is most likely your niche.

Hope that helps. ~Rebecca

rebeccas, That is EXACTLY what I needed to hear! Thank you!

Each of the comments you received from others were saying much the same thing. You just gotta' love the WA community...everyone has something of value to contribute. :)

What an excellent answer Rebecca!

Hi Angela, I think you are talking about the WAY you want to do your blog (humerous blog). That´s perfectly fine, but the first question should be: who is the blog for? My advice would be: keep it close to yourself. What is YOUR reason to do this? Tired of working for a boss? be your own boss? Additional income, you name it. Take this as a start. Then, age group, gender. Think of your self, who are you? Describe yourself, "you are your first client! Then do some keyword research and try find keywords. If you can not find any, change your audience group a little bit and search again. Good luck!

MarianMartin, Thank you for the clarifications!

jmaurice, I think you are right too. I may be thinking about this all wrong.

since your target is women and your favorite place is world to shop how about narrowing it down to things that women need for themselves and others that bring joy, cheer, and are a necessity at the same time. Even though you say your is purpose is laughter with your lifes journey, but your plan is to make $$$ I think you have to choose one or the other. my comments above were about the $$$ side of things. Sorry I couldn't think of a title.

I think Marian has given you some great advise. I talked to someone last night who wants to do a similar niche site as yours. Your will appeal to both. You could maybe narrow it down to an age frame?

edensbox, I thought of the age thing too, like starting over after 40 kind of thing.

Hi Angela, nice to meet you.

think that one of the most important questions is: what do you have to offer your audience? WHAT is it YOU want to show, teach, say, etc? Is it just laughing ? (a laughing course?) help women with depressions (via laughing?) do you just offer a good time reading nice stories to make ppl laugh? WHAT is it you can offer? Or differently said? What question or problem you could solve for your audience?

Kyle made an excellent post about this: https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/kyle/blog/a-niche-is-a-group-of-people-looking-for-stuff

I hope this helps you. Good luck, Marian

MarianMartin, thank you! I forgot about the ?...What question or problem you could solve for your audience? & WHAT is it YOU want to show, teach, say, etc? Problem...Tired of being Broke, Be your own Boss, living life on their own terms just to name a few. I want to do this through humorous blogs about me and my journey, Keeping It Simple, houmorus pictures, videos, inspiration & writing about things I know about or have learned along the way. Giving people options and sharing what has worked for me. I know that's a lot to cover but this is ongoing and I am passionate about it.

Your target is people who like to laugh, but I wouldn't count men out. I read a post somewhere recently telling about the a woman who tried waxing for the first time. It didn't apply to me at all (obviously) but I was rolling on the floor in laughter.

oldbuddy70, I agree to not counting men out. How do I target 'People who like to laugh'? Is that just through writing my blogs with keywords?
