Many folks are confused about the term “niche” and they read into it too much. Because of this, I want to simplify the term niche.

A niche is simply a GROUP of PEOPLE

These people are interested in something, but something specific. The key when choosing this group of people is to be very specific because if you are are too broad, then it is going to be difficult to talk to your audience.

It is like someone walking into a supermarket looking for advice on “how to improve their metabolism”. It is not going to happen and you are not likely to trust the source of the information. Definitely not like the experience you would get if you walked into a store that specialized in metabolism.

Within the online world there are TWO BILLION people. That is the biggest marketplace in the world by a long shot so you want to really become an expert within the very specific category you choose.

So, when you sit down and are thinking of what your niche is, think not of this imaginary and confusing word “niche”, think instead of a group of people.

But you don’t want this group to be too broad. That is the worst thing you can do when starting out. I want to give you some examples of a niche that is too broad and then I want to give you some examples of groups of people that are much more "niche" and specific.

A group of people interested in health. Not the best (TOO BROAD).

Health could be just about anything. I constantly see folks at WA trying to start off within the health niche. Well "health" isn't a niche, it's very broad. How do you target people within health? That is not an audience that you can effectively target, rather you need to dig down and get more specific.

A group of people looking to improve their metabolism. That is a targeted niche. There are MILLIONS of people looking to do this.

A group of people over 50 years old looking to lose weight. That is a targeted niche. There are MILLIONS of people looking to do this.

A group of people looking to fix their back problems. That is a targeted niche. There are MILLIONS of people looking to do this.

A group of men that are looking for help for hair loss. That is a targeted niche. There are MILLIONS of people looking to for this type of help.

A group of people that are looking for low carb diets. That is a targeted niche. There are MILLIONS of people looking for these.

See where I am going with this? People are not looking for health, they are looking for something much more specific. There are 10,000’s of niches within the broad "health" industry. Tens of thousands of groups looking to accomplish something, looking to buy something, looking for help solving a problem.

All you need to do is target one of these and you have yourself a niche and a very big group of people.

Let’s look at another example...

A group of people interested in babies. Not the best (TOO BROAD).

People interested in “babies” is going to be very difficult to target because it is far too broad. People don’t open Google and search for “babies” online, they search for things that are much more specific.

A group of people looking for organic baby products. That is a targeted niche (but still a little broad).

A group of people looking for organic cloth diapers. That is a targeted niche. There are MILLIONS of people looking to for these.

A group of people looking for stimulation toys for infants. That is a targeted niche. There are MILLIONS of people looking to do this. There are MILLIONS of people looking for these.

A group of people looking for learning apps for babies. That is a targeted niche. There are MILLIONS of people looking for these.

A group of people looking for jogging strollers. That is a targeted niche. There are MILLIONS of people looking for these.

A group of people looking for cribs and information about cribs. That is a targeted niche. There are MILLIONS of people looking for this.

A group of people looking for classic children's books. That is a targeted niche. There are MILLIONS of people looking for these.

A group of people looking for information about colic babies. That is a targeted niche. There are MILLIONS of people looking for help.

A group of people looking for information on how to treat babies that are sick. That is a targeted niche. There are MILLIONS of people looking for help on this.

See how I am narrowing things down to a much more specific group of people? Sure, these are targeted but they are still massive. Millions of people are looking for information, for help, and ultimately are spending billions of dollars online buying things throughout the course of a year and you are going to be able to capitalize on this with your website.

Massive opportunity resides just about everywhere you look within the online world because there are specific groups of people everywhere (also known as niches)

But What About the Niche Competition? Shouldn’t I Be Concerned?

No...No….and NO!

Within each of these more targeted groups of people, there are 1,000’s (sometimes millions) of low competition keywords you can target. What you are learning here at WA also gives you a huge competitive advantage over your competition and is going to help you capitalize on any niche.

And please do remember, there is a reason there are a million of every type of store in the world. There are a million hardware stores. There are a million baby toy shops. Millions of people are buying stuff in the smallest of categories.

To put this into perspective, there are 4 million babies born in the US alone each and every year. That means there are 4 million mom’s and dad’s online looking for information about their new babies, looking for help, looking to buy products or services...and this is where you step in with your niche website.

This could be for organic cloth baby diapers or for information on colic babies...or anything that targets a specific group of people.

I don’t want to blow your mind too much here, but there are 120 million babies born every year globally so the audience that is online and looking for stuff within this niche is much larger than the 4 million people in the US.

Crazy right?

Now, when you go to choose your niche, dig into it a bit and find a more specific group of people. Recognize that there are MILLIONS of people within every niche you can imagine and that is the beautiful part about this Internet “thing”. It is not going anywhere and as every year goes by, there is opportunity absolutely everywhere you look and it only continues to grow.

Now go out there and find your GROUP OF PEOPLE. If you want any help in regards to this or want to get feedback on your ideas for a niche, drop a comment below and we will be more than happy to help you out.

PS. If you still can’t come up with a niche after this and want one that is “chosen” for you already, go through the Affiliate Bootcamp. You will love the interactive training over there if you do decide to choose this.

I really enjoyed this training! Makes more sense now I am really passionate about addictions! Now I know I just can't go with the addiction niche. Now picking something to narrow it down is where it will be challenging. Alcohol and drugs is going to be the niche but getting it even more narrow will be the brainstorming. I'm super excited about this because addiction has been my nemesis my whole life and have finally broke free. Any ideas would be helpful thanks!!

And also what kinda products could you promote for this type of niche!

Great explanation of a niche. I liked the idea that anything is a money maker on the internet because the audience is millions of potential targeted customers, out of 2 billion internet users. And you also don't need to worry about the competion for the same reason. I used to work so hard to sell home furnishings one on one, and the competion really did matter. I love this whole concept! Can't wait to get started.

I have pretty much decided on a niche or audience , but i was wondering, according to the menu i am getting two full websites free from wealthy affiliate and this being training, does anyone know if it is OK to use one website to build my own website around my chosen niche and than, also go through the affiliate boot camp If for no other reason than just to get the extra knowledge and experience and i can use the other website to promote affiliate products

Yeah that's fine, plenty of people have more than one website, although I would get one rolling first.

You do need to go premium to access the affiliate boot-camp and go beyond course 1 of the main training though (you will see you can get a load more than 2 websites hosted here with premium too)

Yeah, you can use your free sites for ANY niche, even your own products. As long as it's not sexually explicit or anything like that anyways, which is the same for any member.

There are other benefits of going Premium though, beyond just training. This article breaks it down: Hope this helps!

Hi
I want to help people learn and learn myself more how to make good impression of yourself, how to interact with other persons and be friendly and helpful to others so others help you making life better overall.
And also how to deal with people which ignores other people`s needs even when their lives are very close together.
The main goal is help myself to live better, but i would be happy to give my experience and probably receive it from others.
Hope you understand what I mean.
Problem is that I dont know how to formulate all of this.

So hear’s what I’m thinking. I’m an older man who is fighting the aging process tooth and nail. Seems like there might be a lot of us out there.

I’ve been dealing with issues like eating right, losing weight, putting on muscle, boosting my testosterone levels, ED, hair loss, tightening sagging skin…the list goes on and on. Since I’ve been dealing with all these issues (or am about to), I’ve got a lot to say about a wide variety of products & techniques…all designed to bring improvements to one of the many aspects of growing old. Some worked, some didn’t…and some worked great!

So my niche would be older men, who are “past their prime” and want to turn back the clock and reclaim some of their youth.

Wadda ya think?

I'd target anti aging for men (or women) or just anti aging in general as it is a big niche topic Lance.

It's a good idea but very broad... you can always create a second website further down the line. I tend to agree with the comment re. 'beauty' products being more than ample alone. You could always do a fitness focused website for older men when you've got your first one ticking over.

OK, it's Day 2 for me...for a niche I'm thinking about a niche that I'd go to find some suggestions. I'm a grandfather with an almost 4 yr old grandson. I see him every weekend and enjoy time together. The challenge is finding a toy or activity that will keep him occupied that I can join in...why have grandkids if you can't play with them. I've noticed that some of the toys I get for him are favorites that he comes back to each weekend, those are the ones I'd suggest to a new grandfather. So, how about a niche for grandfathers looking for toys/activities they can enjoy together?

That sounds good.

I am considering to focus on hunting rifles. Is this also too broad?

My idea would be to compare the different hunting rifles. This will, unfortunately, be a very theoretical comparison at first...

To be honest, I am struggling to decide on a niche.

Hunting is the only interest that I can think of that I feel has good products that people would buy.

My other niche idea was a website focused on giving people HOPE. Also too broad probably...

I think so. What are you going to hunt? What are you going to hunt? Bear, Moose, coyote etc. And hunting rifle. varmint you would use a smaller caliber like 22 250. 30/30 for deer. 30/06 for bear or moose. Hope that helps.

Then thinking of how narrow you want to go. Think also about do you have a year's worth of content you could blog about without getting repeats constantly. That has helped me know when I have gone narrow enough.

You will get it narrowed down. Keep trying. You will do just fine.

I like the hunting rifle thing. What do you hunt? What gauge rifle for what animals? Maybe the target audience could be people who are just getting into hunting, not experienced ones. Maybe new research or ballistics of new ammo. Best places to duck or elk hunt, review books, scopes, cleaning supplies.

Hunting rifle is a good idea.

Your content could be to review all the hunting rifle and the gears.

Maybe you could do videos that enhances your theoretical comparisons?

I feel comfortable in the area of HUNTING, but I am not sure if hunting, in general, might be too broad. I option are:

- Hunting in Africa
- Where to hunt?
- What rifle should be used for hunting specific game?
- Focusing on ammunition.
- Focusing on different rifle calibre stats etc.
- A hunting blog sharing amazing true hunting stories.

There are so many options and I wouldn't mind choosing any one of them or then only choosing hunting in general.
Reply
feigner Premium
I would narrow your niche down to the area you know.
This way you will come across more as an expert, or at least very knowledgable.
Are there any major problems with the type of hunting you do?
Finding the game, stalking them, type of gun, type of ammo, how to field dress the animal?
If there are you have your niche.
Think about the information you have gathered and can pass onto others.
You could try ' hunting for xx( insert animal)'
Good luck selecting your niche

My niche is quite odd so bare with me here, Its based upon controversial issues that await to be criticised and determined what consequences should be made given from an online community judgement of each and every individual.
Its actually already up and running at wejustify .com but right now I'm following the guideline of getting started here at Wealthy Affiliate
The "content" as you might see is content that can be published from any individual simply by signing up therefore it includes content from third-party sites such as Youtube and/or Vimeo
I'm not entirely sure where I am going with this as of yet.

Hi Matt, I'm finding it kind of hard to reply to this not knowing exactly what the niche is. It sounds like a forum of some sort, but I'm not really into trying to judge people, it happens to all of us naturally. I prefer to avoid judging as much as possible. It does sound like it could be a cool place to have some good conversations though, if it is moderated properly.
Best of luck to you!

Hi, thanks for replying. Its not quite about judging people, more of videos of wrongdoings , why it was done , what should be done to prevent it in the future and so on, I don't know if it may across as judging but I was hoping it came across as "Hey, here's a video of a lady breastfeeding her infant in public, is it wrong or right and why? Obviously this is a common one but its an example, what some people might see as odd and need justifying hence the name we justify, you could check it out at www. wejustify .com because I'm open to all the feedback and criticism if needed.
Thanks

Hello fellow WA! This is my first time posting here. So I was just thinking about my niche out loud and I came with several options. I have always been passionate about workout supplements as I personally use a variety of them. How can I narrow down this broad niche though? Also I am an avid football and basketball daily fantasy player so I've been thinking about using daily fantasy sports as a niche but I am struggling with the specifications part. Any ideas? Thanks folks!
Reply
JohnM68 Premium
Hello Mac, I'm new here as well (less than one week).

About your workout supplements, perhaps you should target one type of person who does workouts. There are of course many different reasons why people workout. Here are some ideas off the top of my head. I'm certainly not a supplements expert, but maybe this will give you some ideas.
1. Bodybuilders
2. Athletes (high school, college, etc.)
3. Health-conscious people (could break this down into age groups)
4. People who just want to bulk up and look better (related to #1, but perhaps not hardcore)
5. Different body types require different supplement types (maybe???)
6. ...For Women/Men

As for fantasy sports, one possibility would be to introduce readers to the wide variety of analysis tools available. Each site loves to promote their own tools almost exclusively, but you can be independent reviewer of pros and cons of each.
Reply
mfarah81 Premium
Excellent tips John. I like the neutral reviewer part. There are a ton of tools out there for fantasy sports and not all are as helpful as one might hope. As for the supplements I guess I just need to find a specific target audience to promote their desired supplements. It's hard work but very doable.

Hi Ray20, you should be able to set up different categories on your same site for the different seasons. This way your audience will have a reference year round. You can also monetize your site with various affiliate links for fertilizers, plants, tools for planting, etc.

You could check different manufacturers for affiliate signups for their products and don't forget the biggie--Amazon! They sell everything on the planet!

Hello! I am having difficulty with a niche. Wondering if anyone could offer some advice/help. How could I potentially turn that into a niche?

Meditation is a niche. You could do a site dedicated to the 'best mats for meditation', 'meditation music', or 'meditation ebooks/books'.

The best niches are niches where people 'need' or feel like they 'need' something and you provide it for them. Many people search for info on 'mats for meditation'. Many others search for 'meditation music'.

Feel free to use any ideas provided here as a starting point. I hope has helped you in some way.

I have struggled with the whole niche concept. The struggle was choosing just one. After dealing with some major unexpected health issues and fighting back from a stroke, weight gain, and the weight gain that followed at the age 40, it made me want to help other men over 40 get their health back. Let's face it, the body isn't the same once you hit 40. Although, I am passionate about this, I still don't feel that I should start here. This also brought on major financial crisis and discouragement. I recently created 619 Legacy. This name was created because I want to help others live a life that leaves a legacy of steps worth following. I want to see people reach their potential. I want to offer that hope as an anchor (which is where 619 comes from --Hebrews 6:19). During all the creation and brain storming of 619 Legacy affiliate marketing became the more clear picture of what I want to do. I want to combine the physical, mental, and financial to help bring restoration.
Sorry, I know all that is long, but it being said, I feel that Affiliate Marketing is my starting niche. That brings me to the next point. I read an article on here how we need to finish the certificate training first then go to Bootcamp, but I've also read that if we choose WA as our niche to go to the Bootcamp.
Reply
JasonHeard Premium
Hi Shane, you can start with the Bootcamp.

I've heard mixed replies myself when it comes to where you should begin.

I feel the reason people say you should start with the Certification over the Bootcamp is because the Bootcamp focuses on teaching people the steps to affiliate marketing, the same steps you will get experience in by following the Certification courses.

I guess the thought is "how can you teach it if you are just learning yourself".

However, they must miss the fact that the Bootcamp does a good job teaching these same steps. Also depending on your audience, you will usually be a few steps ahead of newcomers to affiliate marketing because of all that you are learning.

If you are set on following the bootcamp, I say go for it.

For the last ten years, I have been super-excited about learning how to sing.

I have tried learning with several different tools, including two online singing programs. The first program had weekly live webinars where students could interact and get feedback from the instructor. It seemed well-set-up, but I found the exercises very difficult. Singing for me at that time WAS difficult, so I didn't know any better. I just thought I was slow to progress.

Two-and-a-half years ago, I bought video instruction from Ken Tamplin. At that time, I had an idea in my mind about how skilled of a singer I would like to become by the end of my lifetime (I'm currently 49). I'm super-excited to say that I reached that goal earlier this month--and I am seeing noticeable improvement constantly!

The only catch is...I just sent an email inquiring about it, but I seem to remember reading that Ken does not have an affiliate program.

His singing program is the only one that I truly believe in and thus the only one I would promote. I know I'm not in this to give free publicity, but...it would give me something with high value to build multiple websites around and allow me to promote other products related to singing. (microphones, karaoke machines, etc.)

Hopefully I'm wrong and he does have an affiliate program, but if not...is this is solid idea?
Reply
Tjennings122 Premium
This could go a lot of different directions--does Ken have a website? If so, you may ask if okay for you to promote him on yours. If not, you may want to inquire about creating one for him! As far as products related to singing, that is pretty broad but if you could narrow it down and do some comparisons of products that would help. Best wishes to your success!

Here's Ken's website:
https://store.kentamplinvocalacademy.com/

He has an amazing array of students with varying styles that he's taught. Check out my favorite, Anthony Vincent, by far the most "interesting" singer I've ever watched:

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCm6r_b2K5jn1JGkwDcwJXrQ

(Guess I couldn't link to a specific song, as it won't allow "?value=123", but here's his channel.)

As I suspected, Ken Tamplin does not have an affiliate program. He's worried about the tactics that unscrupulous marketers will use and relies on his reputation as a great teacher.

I will email him and ask if he minds if I promote his website (for no commissions.).

I do plan to focus on products that aid singers to learn at home: mics, audio interfaces, recording software, soundproof shields, etc.
Reply
nathaniell Premium
You could build a website about singing whatever style you sing in, and recommend related products. You can also talk about his product, but it just wouldn't make money for that specific product. There will be related tools that you use though. Best to have a few monetization options for your site!

Otherwise, you could keep looking for a different niche you're interested in that will have more affiliate opportunities.

I wouldn't recommend starting a website solely to promote a specific product that doesn't have an affiliate program.

Clean-eating for the time poor can be extra challenging without some appliances that make it "so-easy-you'd-be-silly-not-to", kind of thing. Get Googling, - you will find plenty of products related to clean and healthy eating!

Hi everyone if I wanted to do a site about learning bass guitar would that be too broad? I thought of narrowing it to learn blues bass. Would that be better because it is narrower. I feel like it would be a lot easier to write content for but also offers plenty of topics for articles.

My target would be people new to playing bass that need advice on what gear to get, need instruction, and are looking for other learning resources.

I am also thinking about a site about flight simulations or another topic could be vegan cooking for two or simple vegan recipes something like that.

You could just go with the "herbal tea" topic and then provide reviews for "celestial Seasons herbal teas" and the other tea brands out there. So "Herbal tea" is the main topic but your subtopics would be the different brands of tea out there on the market.

Food for thought ...

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the feedback, I can see what your are talking about with subtopics. i just don't want to start out with too broad of an niche. I really want to create a 'herbal tea' universe so to speak & I feel that starting off with Celestial is like when marvel started out with iron man.

I see what you mean though. I will take it into consideration, thank you for the input. I is helpful.

I think I'm going to get into "Western novels and books" niche because that's one thing that I really love. Ever since my schooldays, I have been into western novels, especially the Louis L'Amour ones. Though I must admit I don't read them nowadays ( and kids today find it hard to relate to it), I still collect western novels more as a childhood hangover. And I'm sure there are many like me (from the older generation) who like collecting or reading western stuff :)

Hi there, I use to struggle with the idea of coming up with a Niche for years, shamefully for too long.

But I'm seeing more and more why they say...NO NICHE IS TOO COMPETITIVE...I now know how to dig in the existing POPULAR niches and come up with something to focus on.

It's going to Walmart looking for breakfast cereals...but which will it be...generic Corn Flakes or Organic Steel Cut Oats!

I'm thinking about building my site around comics, but it's hard for me to tell if that's too broad or not. After all, comics are already a rather niche market compared to cinema or video games. Should I narrow the focus to perhaps only DC comics or only indie comics, or something like that?

I realize to answer my question would probably require knowledge of this market beforehand, but nonetheless I feel the need to ask, just in case.
Reply
egonsarv Premium
I suggest you start with a narrower niche (like DC comics, indie comics...) The narrower your niche (your target audience) the easier it is for you to target them. The easier it is for you to get traffic to your website.

However, choose your domain name so that later you can add other subniches as well. For example, if your domain name (and name of your website is myindiecomics.com, you restrict yourself with indie comics only.

But if your website is mybestcomics.com (just a random example) then you can start with indie comics, later add DC comics, etc.

Did it help, sir?

Cheers,

I believe that everything related to rocking out your best health ever is important, so niche selection is a challenge for me, and my passions run the gamut! Physical, emotional, spiritual, creative, nutritional, financial …. you get my drift.

I have traveled the country teaching classes on essential oils, and while they will remain a best friend for me, out of the gate with WA I am going to concentrate on superfoods & superherbs.

Quiver ~ yes ~ I said it ~ I have narrowed it down to one choice! haha!

I am going to concentrate on helping entrepreneurs keep their energy levels up, their minds crystal clear and their immune systems strong by feeding their bodies what they really need, and keeping it easy peasy. I will help them get products & info into their bodies & minds to accomplish this.

Love your input ….

So I've got a lot of different interests and as time goes on I'l get better a promoting things. I can totally see my self promoting different niches. But to start with, I'd say
Books, too broad
fiction books, still too broad but better
new fiction books, better but still kinda broad
supporting/promoting new and upcoming authors in a variety of fictional genres, not bad
Reply
It's like other peeps have said: if you can write on the topic 2-3 times a week without feeling burnt out, then you've found the right one. Plus, you can always read books and review them, plus write about authors coming through for signings, and even narrow it down to genres within either fiction or non-fiction. :)

I thinking about a niche where I provide information and products for people regarding understanding finance. Specifically for people who by no fault of there own have been place in situation where they have the drive to succeed but lake basic financial skills as they were never taught to help with with pitfalls earlier on with credit, loans, and debt. providing stepping stones with transition on when and what transitions are with different points of finance planning and provide easy strategies to get there finances in order. Too Broad? Good idea for Niche?

I just wrote gym bags on Google in Italian and English and I saw there isn't a specific Italian or English website only about the gym bags. In the first page of the results there are Amazon, eBay, sportsdirect but they aren't specific about gym bags.

Do you think can be a profitable niche?

Yes, definitely yes. But you must be careful and clear in which language you may want to publish. As an Italian born and spoken living in UK for nearly 25 years, I'm not sure a bilingual website may be a good idea. I might want to browse the net for similar websites to see how well they work.

Hey
I think you have to cover various aspects about building. A workout plan for gaining and workout plan for fat loss. Diet for gaining and fat loss. Supplements required and why are they required and at what time. Proper form of exercise and various repetitions to follow. Maybe you can cover a simple working out plan for 365 days a year along with simple diet. Cardio vs weight training. Maybe cover massaging, stress, yoga, stretching etc. Importantly a topic you have knowledge about and in which you can write content about.

I was interested in addictions as a niche but this seems too broad. Maybe addiction to opiates, understanding and treatment. I also thought that addiction to nicotine might be a good niche? I am also interested in chronic pain and chronic health problems such as obesity, depression, anxiety, fatigue, insomnia, etc., etc..

I think addiction to alcohol and cigarettes is a good niche. May be you can help them with products and advice to leave the addiction, or deaddiction. With cigarettes and alcohol addiction you can get wider audience than say opiates addiction. Also keep in mind you have to come up with lots of content moving ahead, so choose niche accordingly.

Well a niche can be anything, you don't need first hand experience. Most people choose interests, for example something like weight loss. They will give exercise or diet advice, kind of like a blog and then also have product reviews to monetise their site. Linking people to the products through somewhere like amazon.

There's a limitless number of products you could review with something like weight loss and it would be impossible to have actually used every product you promote, if you keep building your website out (which is the bigger plan)

Doing your research will help massively and negative reviews, based on your knowledge and research will help with your legitimacy in a niche. It doesn't all have to be positive. If you know what you're talking about you shouldn't feel uncomfortable.

If you really don't want to do product reviews then there are different options but you'll have to skip some of the later training and appreciate a lot of people are fixated on the product review side so you'll have to forge your own path... For example I have a football/soccer news site and product reviews aren't really appropriate. I'm monetising it via betting advertising (same principle as affiliate marketing without the reviews) and maybe some other products connected to football. I'm in the very early stages of this myself.

The best advice is to do something you're interested in, as it's not a quick route to make money, it takes time. So you really should like writing about your chosen niche as you will be doing a lot of it. That's all you need to do to start with. Then just follow the training, it holds your hand through-out and will elaborate hugely on the overview above I've tried to provide.

Good Luck

I don't know how much content you'd be able to write, - probably a LOT more than you currently suspect. I bet there's a lot of equipment you could sell for restoring old photos. You could look look at both phsyical and digital restoration.
Maybe spend a couple days gathering ideas for content and see what you can find out there.
Perhaps if its not enough you could look into scrap-booking or photography in general.

Hello,
From what i have heard from Kyle training videos, duplicating content does not go well with google rankings. You surely can take inspiration and knowledge from the author but write it in your own words in my opinion.
Reply
Marc1001 Premium
You can contact the sites and ask for permission. But you won't get any rankings from it. It's much much better to read a few of those awesome articles and then make your own article. When making your article write it like you are talking to a friend. Tell a story, make it personal.
Even one article copied on your website can hurt the rankings on the entire site.
An alternative is to get permission from them, use a snippet from the other article then give your own opinions on it. Give them a backlink( a link to their page) to finish reading the article. Finally send them a copy of your article showing them how and what you said about their article. They might just give you a backlink too. This is a natural way of building backlinks and Google will love it.

When choosing a niche I select something I am passionate about, something I truly believe in. If the niche is not attractive for you, it is unlikely it will be attractive for others. While following the course, I wrote down not the niche as such but the problems I would identify, after that the solutions I could offer, thus defining a niche for those people for which the solution would solve the problem.

As an example, the first niche the problem I identified was the high unemployment rate in Spain, and specially for graduates with no working experience. The solution is a site on Spanish to provide information and tools to job seekers in Spain to support them with the job hunting.

It is something I am passionate and do care about, and I truly believe I am making what I can towards a more fair, just and sustainable society.

Think about those things that you are passionate about, identify the problems, define solutions, and go for it.

Hope it helps and best of success.

question.... I already know my niche; health and fitness. I read the "too broad" section on that, but I know I have worlds of knowledge on lots of different topics in this industry. Before deleting all my personal social media accounts (a year without social media kick to see what I can accomplish and how it affects the dynamic of my life) I had people constantly commenting on my photos ask me to be their trainer or people private messaging me for advice, regimens, nutrition plans, supplementation, meal prep ideas, etc.

*Light bulb*

I'd like to create a website with blogs covering all types of things in regards to health and fitness

-npc bodybuilding; should you compete
-low carb vs low fat
-intro to weight lifting; things to consider before hitting the weight room
-different styles of lifting
-supplement guide; preferences/when to take them/ right supplementation

Just to name a few

I've created a name for myself in my community as being 'fit' and very strong and I know if that many people in my small community would reach out to me, I could be a force with this. I'd of course add in affiliate marketing on products I'd use or recommend.

This isn't right up my alley, I am the alley... but... would it be profitable to tie in so many things on one website?
Reply
ycmeg Premium
Hi Johanna, glad you asked.

Personally, I think that if you build your site right and you're targeting the right people then it doesn't matter how many products you tie in. As long as it looks natural.

Keep all the promotions natural which I trust you would be able to do in your niche. Just don't make it look like some movie site with millions of ads and popads.

Also, very important. You do need to make sure your website is targeting a smaller audience. If the niche is too broad like just "health and fitness" you will not be able to compete against all the other huge sites in that niche and this can hurt your traffic.

Try tightening it up a bit to something like "health and fitness for teens" or anything like that you want, maybe even tighter if you want.

Good luck!

What can you write about each week, the types of fish, how to care for them, what to feed them, how much, water temperature, plant types - how much more do you want ?
what a plant needs to grow, how does aquaponics work.
You won't make money any quicker in the money making niche than the aquaponics niche, so pick something you are really interested in and run with it.
If you find in 6 months to a year that you want to change then do, but give it a chance.
There are other on here doing aquaponics - so you won't be on your own! you can always ask for their advice.

1.a) I love creating YouTube videos on self- help. I already have a few videos going on the channel. I want to create a website for that. is self-help a 'too broad' niche? (if it is, isnt it an advantage cos I don't wanna run outta ideas for videos in the future.
a) Should my channel name or domain name reflect my niche? is it necessary?

2. I'm also thinking of creating a YouTubers directory where you could type in a keyword and all YouTubers in that category will be shown to you. this will minimize the time and effort spent into looking for quality content creators on youtube. Any ideas on the best way to tackle this niche or idea (for the lack of a better word)

Thanks for taking your time to read and answer

Hi Aceharts,
like it's said in the blog here, try to be more specific, because being to broad will result in forcing you to cover too many subjects in surface without mastering any of them. Also you'd be overwhelmed fast.
Reply
svaata Premium
Hi Aceharts,
Replying to your question 1 here.
It's good to narrow your focus a bit, but it doesn't have to be too narrow so you don't know what to write.

If you want to keep the niche broad, maybe you could think of some themes that you would make videos about one after another. Or something like that. Then see how you like it and how your new audience responds to your content.

Or think about your favorite self-help gurus that you follow and think what kind of niches they have. Some have quite broad niches, while others have something more specific. For example one might focus on how mind and body are connected and how to heal yourself by nurturing that connection. While another could focus on productivity and finding more time for yourself, and someone teaches how to take care of yourself by balancing your chackras!
These are quite different niches and there is a different audience for each!

But it doesn't mean that you would have to give up everything else if you pick one. You could find some nice combinations and that could be your niche/point of view. Just start with something and see what you feel is best when you have some "data" about how you like the niche and how your audience sees you.

It's good that your channel name or domain name is somehow related to your niche. But it isn't super important. As long as the names are at least somewhat related, or neutral. Could be related to your name or nickname also, if you want that to be the thing people will know you from in the future.

I wouldn't worry about the names too much. Spend more time thinking about the niche that the names. Good luck!

A lot of people are opting to do container gardens now, especially when you downsize your living space such as the new fad of Tiny House Living. Using container gardens allows you to up and move them with you so it is such a great idea!

As for the fairy tales niche, create your own characters and write a book about it. Offer a preview for free then link to where they can actually purchase and download a pdf format of the book.

Wow!!!...Tjennings...thank you for that thought!

I didn't even think of that. And I am a complete novice to it so guess many people now starting out would have the same questions and hurdles as I would!

Thanks again...I think this niche would be an excellent one!

Regards,

Ravi

Thanks Gisel!

When I went India last month it was a big thing there. At least 4 of of my wife's relatives who lives there were doing it.

That's how I thought of the niche.

Thanks again!!!

I don't think you have to wait. You can start your blog and document your journey through learning and doing. Plenty of photos to take. Videos to make. All of this makes good content. Share resources you use, try out affiliate products and then share them . Or review different products along the way. Don't way, get going from day one.

Thanks Auburnbiz.

Makes perfect sense and I think it would make it more relate-able to people who would be in the same boat.

I already bought the domain name and an online course and a top selling book on the topic.

I have to read the book and go through the online course and would follow step by step with them.

I look forward to learning more about the topic and also writing and building a website to document my journey.

The online course does have an affiliate program so I can tell my audience where I am gaining my knowledge from also.

Thanks again!!
