Many folks are confused about the term “niche” and they read into it too much. Because of this, I want to simplify the term niche.

A niche is simply a GROUP of PEOPLE

These people are interested in something, but something specific. The key when choosing this group of people is to be very specific because if you are are too broad, then it is going to be difficult to talk to your audience.

It is like someone walking into a supermarket looking for advice on “how to improve their metabolism”. It is not going to happen and you are not likely to trust the source of the information. Definitely not like the experience you would get if you walked into a store that specialized in metabolism.

Within the online world there are 3.75 BILLION people. That is the biggest marketplace in the world by a long shot so you want to really become an expert within the very specific category you choose.

So, when you sit down and are thinking of what your niche is, think not of this imaginary and confusing word “niche”, think instead of a group of people.

But you don’t want this group to be too broad. That is the worst thing you can do when starting out. I want to give you some examples of a niche that is too broad and then I want to give you some examples of groups of people that are much more "niche" and specific.

A group of people interested in health. Not the best (TOO BROAD).

Health could be just about anything. I constantly see folks at WA trying to start off within the health niche. Well "health" isn't a niche, it's very broad. How do you target people within health? That is not an audience that you can effectively target, rather you need to dig down and get more specific.

A group of people looking to improve their metabolism. That is a targeted niche. There are MILLIONS of people looking to do this.

A group of people over 50 years old looking to lose weight. That is a targeted niche. There are MILLIONS of people looking to do this.

A group of people looking to fix their back problems. That is a targeted niche. There are MILLIONS of people looking to do this.

A group of men that are looking for help for hair loss. That is a targeted niche. There are MILLIONS of people looking to for this type of help.

A group of people that are looking for low carb diets. That is a targeted niche. There are MILLIONS of people looking for these.

See where I am going with this? People are not looking for health, they are looking for something much more specific. There are 10,000’s of niches within the broad "health" industry. Tens of thousands of groups looking to accomplish something, looking to buy something, looking for help solving a problem.

All you need to do is target one of these and you have yourself a niche and a very big group of people.

Let’s look at another example...

A group of people interested in babies. Not the best (TOO BROAD).

People interested in “babies” is going to be very difficult to target because it is far too broad. People don’t open Google and search for “babies” online, they search for things that are much more specific.

A group of people looking for organic baby products. That is a targeted niche (but still a little broad).

A group of people looking for organic cloth diapers. That is a targeted niche. There are MILLIONS of people looking to for these.

A group of people looking for stimulation toys for infants. That is a targeted niche. There are MILLIONS of people looking to do this. There are MILLIONS of people looking for these.

A group of people looking for learning apps for babies. That is a targeted niche. There are MILLIONS of people looking for these.

A group of people looking for jogging strollers. That is a targeted niche. There are MILLIONS of people looking for these.

A group of people looking for cribs and information about cribs. That is a targeted niche. There are MILLIONS of people looking for this.

A group of people looking for classic children's books. That is a targeted niche. There are MILLIONS of people looking for these.

A group of people looking for information about colic babies. That is a targeted niche. There are MILLIONS of people looking for help.

A group of people looking for information on how to treat babies that are sick. That is a targeted niche. There are MILLIONS of people looking for help on this.

See how I am narrowing things down to a much more specific group of people? Sure, these are targeted but they are still massive. Millions of people are looking for information, for help, and ultimately are spending billions of dollars online buying things throughout the course of a year and you are going to be able to capitalize on this with your website.

Massive opportunity resides just about everywhere you look within the online world because there are specific groups of people everywhere (also known as niches)

But What About the Niche Competition? Shouldn’t I Be Concerned?

No...No….and NO!

Within each of these more targeted groups of people, there are 1,000’s (sometimes millions) of low competition keywords you can target. What you are learning here at WA also gives you a huge competitive advantage over your competition and is going to help you capitalize on any niche.

And please do remember, there is a reason there are a million of every type of store in the world. There are a million hardware stores. There are a million baby toy shops. Millions of people are buying stuff in the smallest of categories.

To put this into perspective, there are 4 million babies born in the US alone each and every year. That means there are 4 million mom’s and dad’s online looking for information about their new babies, looking for help, looking to buy products or services...and this is where you step in with your niche website.

This could be for organic cloth baby diapers or for information on colic babies...or anything that targets a specific group of people.

I don’t want to blow your mind too much here, but there are 120 million babies born every year globally so the audience that is online and looking for stuff within this niche is much larger than the 4 million people in the US.

Crazy right?

Now, when you go to choose your niche, dig into it a bit and find a more specific group of people. Recognize that there are MILLIONS of people within every niche you can imagine and that is the beautiful part about this Internet “thing”. It is not going anywhere and as every year goes by, there is opportunity absolutely everywhere you look and it only continues to grow.

Now go out there and find your GROUP OF PEOPLE. If you want any help in regards to this or want to get feedback on your ideas for a niche, drop a comment below and we will be more than happy to help you out.

PS. If you still can’t come up with a niche after this and want one that is “chosen” for you already, go through the Affiliate Bootcamp. First of all, i want to say thank you to one who wrote this text. It stops me to make my first mistake (and i didnt even start :)). I am a cycling enthusiast and i wanted to choose as my niche cycling, bikes or racing and all of that is to broad. Now i made my mind because of explanation above. My niche is going to be some much more narrower. Some part of the road bike or something like that.

Narrow niches make for narrow income.

Instead refocus on helping people in your niche. Cycling is a board niche, let's see what it's all about?

Which Bike IS Best For Cycling Over 40?
What is cycling?
What health benefits does cycling have?
How much does it cost to get into cycling?
Can I cycle with a injured arm?
What bikes are best to cycle in the summer?
Can you cycle in the wintertime?

What are the best cycling states?
What places in STATE HERE have the best cycling trails?
How to fix a cycle bike?
Which tire style is best for cycling?

All of these questions are board questions that will pull in a lot of traffic.

Once the traffic is there let them decide where to go. You can create a board niche website (cycling) and still have it work.

Just create little 'bike universes' within the site. Certain sections dedicated to a specific bike.

Have these 'universes' collide in future 'best of the best' articles.

Narrow niches make for narrow income streams especially if you don't account for your niche aging.

Do you think a cyclist age 20 will be using the same bike, clothes, food if the person was 50, 55, 65?

No they would use different things, which means your site could be a progressive site on cycling as you age.

From 20s to 80s. That covers a huge part of the population and a big income stream too.

Anyway that is just my opinion. Feel free to seek the advise of others and come to your own thoughts and conclusions.

Have a good day.

I understand logic, its a good point, all of that. Web site may call "cycling for life" and i can make sections per ages. Your opinion opened my eyes. Thank you

I'm thinking about having toys be my niche. I am a mom to two 8 year olds and a 2 year old. The toys that go through are house vary because of the age difference. Is doing toys in general to broad of a niche? Should I narrow it down to a particular type of toy (electronic vs non-electronic etc.) or narrow it down by age, etc?
Reply
Karlito76 Premium
You definitely need to narrow down toys because who would be your target audience? Kids of course and that is way too broad of audience. Perhaps if you broke it down a little into age groups. Then you can focus on that age specific audience. A lot of first time parents would see the value in a site like that. Best of luck to you!
Reply
nathaniell Premium
I agree with Karlito - you'd need "toys for X age group" or even "toys for boys x age group". Alternatively, you could do toys with a purpose, like "toys for learning X age group", or "outdoor toys for boys and girls age 3-5".
Reply
JeannineC Premium
I know someone who is supporting her entire family of 5 with her blog about toys. She breaks things down by categories for age groups, boys vs girls, etc, but it does very well. You can narrow more if you wish for sure, which may be an easier way to get started. Is there one category of toys which your kids especially love?

I really love the outdoors, so I want to make a niche about items one should take camping, or what a backpacker's necessities are for a successful trip. Is this too broad of a niche? Should I try to narrow it down to more specific types of gear like camping stoves or tents etc.?
Reply
JeannineC Premium
Backpacking would be a tight enough niche. There are also many good merchants for that, since buying camping equipment is not an impulse purchase and therefore could be hurt by Amazon's one-day cookie. Other merchants usually have much longer cookies.

I'm hoping to make my niche about crochet. Does anyone think that this may be a good place to start please? Or do you feel that there may be too many others doing the same? I have other ideas to expand on, when the time is right, but that is for another day, lol! :) TIA

Crochet is awesome. I used to do it all the time as a kid. My grandmother taught me. I loved it and used to make blankets all the time. Also, as Kyle put it here, there is more than enough room and you also you have to remember you have your personal take which will be different than anyone else. As far as competition look at it this way. The ocean is success, we are on a beach. I fill up my cup for the day and you fill up yours. Do you think we will have room for more success tomorrow?

I need a little help about writing content for my niche, and sorry if it sounds complicated. I want to write about weight loss for guys 30 and under and i want to ask how should my content look? Should my domain name and website name contains these keywords, apropos how this guys will know that content is just for them and where in my content i have to emphasize that content is for men's in 30 and under?..

My best advice at this point is to stick to the WA training! Kyle has lined out the lessons to get you started on the right foot and keep you on track. He'll help you get your business moving in the right direction, step by step, including how to write content

Here's a great additional resource I made for how to write content: It should help you knock out a 500-1000 word article very easily!

Hi guys
I am opening a auto aesthetic shop and I would like to sell our products online.
my question is: do I need to find a very specific niche for each product .example: how to restore a car headlights or how to restore a car paint job or should it be more like : how to make your car look like new...or all above..
my second niche that I am thinking about is mattresses.
how can I find a niche for mattresses..
thank you

The aging of Japan is progressing in Japan.

I am about to work on business while care for my father,
1) Niche with everyday life aspect
2) Niche's in terms of creating a nursing environment
I would be happy if you could comment on the market and product ideas.
For example
① Daily necessities (diapers and dedicated clothes)
② Meals for the elderly
③ How to find a facility with nursing care
④ Medical equipment dedicated to the elderly
⑤ wheelchair or cane
⑥ Inheritance procedures etc
I am thinking about a niche idea, but are there any other ideas?

Hi there! I have a passion for teaching people to de-escalate aggressive or violent persons whilst remaining safe themselves. (a large part of my day job). I know you say that even the smallest and obscure niche has plenty of scope. When I search for this type of thing on the net, there is not much happening. Should I pursue this OR... I have always had a healthy beard and know that there are plenty of niche opportunities in that area. I have an abundance of content for the de-escalation scenario compared to less when it comes to beard care except personal experience. So not sure which way I should go. Any thoughts on the matter would be appreciated.
Reply
phakacha8 Premium
Yes, even the smallest niche has every potential for a massive success.

Healthy beard too is a good niche but its affect may be somewhat personal. While de-escalate aggression will have much impact and perhaps new to the world of online marketing and going for it might be thriving.

I am with the latter.

You may throw up a coin in the air and choose accordingly if confusion overpowers you.

My personal suggestion.

Hi, as I have three kids myself under 10, my thoghts are pretty much always around them. So I want to pick my niche form things related to children, but I find it hard to choose from:

-kids birthday parties
-children's books
-kids fashion

Any useful tips out there? Thank you in advance!

Hi Cristina, Just a few observations on your thoughts. I guess that having children means you are always in touch with what is trending in the school yard, so that is good from the point of view of selling products for kid´s fashions and hobbies(if that is what you plan to do). Books are always in demand, but to what extent is the market covered by big competitors such as Amazon, Kindle etc. I wish you success. Best Alan

Hi Christina!

You know what your general niche is and that's good. You just have to find a way to determine what the best of the three is.
My suggestion is to do a little survey in all three potential markets.
i.e.
Keyword research
Check forums on the topics listed
Look at the competition
Check Amazon etc to see what is trending

Kids are normally more excited during birthday parties. They take it more important than Christmas. You will find more traffic with it though kids fashion and children's books are equally good

All three are very good niche. Narrowing them down and perhaps doing a bit of research to see what others are doing will help. Sorting through the right keywords using the Jaaxy keyword system is also a great start.

I like kids fashion. It is a broad niche area, but you can still choose one item that you like among children fashion and be creative with it.

What would you like to teach or tell people about kids night wear?

That's my thought!

Hi, Christina, its a blessing to have 3 kids around that same age.
All 3 niches are good for me. Maybe, narrow the Kids Birthday Parties one to a specific age range. For example, Kids Birthday Parties for the under 10.

Also, for Children's books you could narrow it to a specific age range. Also, by book category, whether it Fiction or Nonfiction.

Lastly, Kids Fashion also needs to be narrowed to what type of fashion you will be looking at. Is it boys and girl, if so, what age range. All the best!

Crazy idea here and it will possibly come back to bite me, but a niche idea i am considering is "Amazon in Australia". Sounds way too broad? I agree, how is Amazon a niche?? But with Amazon coming to Australia (physically) very soon, that in itself is a niche with a ton of info to blog about such as how will this effect the local retail industry, how Australia Post is teaming up with Amazon for cheap Aussie shipping etc etc. Laugh me down if you think I am crazy, any tips would be appreciated if you think there is a smart way to narrow this?

Hi
Who knows?
Might be good for you.
Try and see if there will be any problems with Aussies using Amazon and target that to get feedback and create a post about using Amazon in Aussie Land. Even create a manual in eBook format and promote your site that way.
Hope this helps.
Best of success to you.

I don't think Amazon as a whole could be a niche because how would you promote it? They pay commissions based on items that sell. If your promoting Amazon and no products, how would you profit? If your not going to promote specific products, you might be able to promote the daily deals or lightening deals so that your options are many but I'm not sure what the commission structure is on those items but it would be worth some research. Best of luck to you!

Thanks Karlito76,
I agree it is going to be a tough one but hopefully an interesting one. I wont exactly be promoting Amazon as a whole (or even anything at all really) but providing value to my readers who are interested/ concerned/ etc about how Amazon coming to Australia will impact their life or their business (It is very topical here as there is the potential for Amazon to either destroy local retail or for Amazon to fail amazingly.

Thanks for the thoughts!

I have a pretty good idea for a niche but I want to hold off on that initially and just start off with something simple for the purposes of learning how to build a website and how this all works.

My question is, for a first niche, could anyone with experience recommend which would be better?....Starting off with a targeted product that I just try to sell through affiliate marketing on amazon.com, for example, Christmas dresses for babies (something that doesn't take article writing or brain power necessarily lol), OR something like CBD oil, for example (something I'm interested in but don't have a lot of knowledge about and would require a lot of learning, researching and article writing.....as well as everything else involved that I don't know what it is because I haven't learned it yet!)

My main goal for my first website is to learn how to just DO IT. So I can come back my second time around more confident and knowing what I'm doing to be more empowered to make it really great. What would you recommend starting off with? A simple product that I can just sell? Or a more complex product that would require more knowledge and learning and writing?

Thank you!!!

Hi,
Amazon will check you website out first before they allow you to affiliate sales on it. So if you dont have much traffic pointing to your website it might be better to put it on pause until you do.

You could dropship products from Amazon though using an ebay account. Amazon to ebay or visa versa.
I'd say keep things simple until your confident.
Hope that helps.
Best of success to you.

I'm in the same boat as you "lips" ! My first goal is to just DO IT and get my feet wet till I feel confident in what I am doing. The once I've got the basic process down, I can tailor that knowledge to a more meaningful business that actually becomes profitable. That being said, the first niche can be anything we are familiar with and interested in, then learn the mechanics of putting together our business funnel. I have a lifetime of real world business experience, but translating that into creating an internet business has been a daunting and intimidating task for me.

Would choosing Bullmastiff product must have's be too broad? So what i am aiming at (I am a proud mom of a bullmastiff, she's my world) is having a large breed dog you can just choose any products. They require different toys, food, excersice, and care. So I would be focused on products for individuals who own bullmastiff.

I think you should just make three niches websites :

-Food
-Toys
-Exercise

I like your niche idea. I think you might be able to target all large breed dogs because it will broaden your audience to millions instead of just Bull Mastiff owners. You can use keywords to target certain breeds in you content which you will learn about in the lessons to come. Also, it's clear you are passionate about the subject so writing content and coming up with new ideas for content should be easy. I wish you much luck on your business venture!

Hi Marg, I hope u don't mind if I call u that, it's a dear name to me. <3. I feel where you are, I was in a similar place before! I have 1673836 different interests in about as many directions! I have been weighting it all out over the past year. A lot of people told me to go with what I was most interested in. I didn't find that helpful, lol, see my previous statement.

I think it will be easiest to start a solid blog about something that is objective, something that is concrete. I wanted to write about baby sleep and how to help babies get more. It was th e thing I was most interested in because it had to happen in order for me to write my blog!! I found there are too many opinions, too many contrasting techniques, too much variation.

I've decided this time to write about sewing, my life long passion. There is no opinion as to whether thread is holding the fabric together or not.

Well, I rambled, I hope you are a native English speaker, or this will be very confusing. Also, I hope I have been able to help you narrow down your long list (I'm sure it was even longer before you write it here. ;)

Oh great! I'm glad it helps.

As for Pet Insurance and Pet Cremation, I probably have to rethink about it. The story behind of the Pet Cremation is about six years ago, when my mother passed away her wish was to cremate her and I did. Even though it was sad but proud experience I ever had.

Well, exactly a month later my Baby(my decease dog's name) died, and I intended to follow the same step I did with my mother to cremate her, but my husband did not agree, and if he did the funeral home will charge us $500 to do it. I then decided to bury her in our backyard, so that way I can see her everyday I come out to my backyard. Missed her very much still.

So many times, we tempted to relocate but we couldn't, well of course I couldn't because I could not leave my Baby behind. Yeah....people say I can dig her up and relocate her, but you know who would do that? I wouldn't!

So anyway, I put down pet cremation because it could be an ease for dog owners after their pet passes on, taking care of their remains is the last thing they want to think about. So it’s best to prepare themselves by knowing their options, and maybe even making their choice, beforehand.

Sorry for the long descriptions, but just want my story with ya. I hope I won't bored you to death. Lol..... Thanks for reading.

Margaret.

Interesting explanation which I might have failed to look through.

The Niches become more interesting with your amplification and created in me a sense of pathos by the mention of your beloved mom. I now feel that they may be very much worth considering.

So, it's not something you usually see around here but one of my big interests is cute things! This includes stuff such as cute female fashion, accessories, phone charms, etc. And I love things that can have cute graphics(eg. girly colorful designs, characters, anime, animals) on them, such as notebooks, stickers, school supplies, etc. One of my favorite examples of this kind of stuff is "Kawaii" Japanese merchandise. Obviously I must focus on something more specific than "cute" but I'm not sure how specific I should be in this case. Especially since I like so many "cute" things, haha. Any thoughts on how I can find a more specific niche in this? I have other interests I can consider, but this is one I'd certainly have a lot of fun with.
Reply
WLusink Premium
Hi Mal,

Actually, because you have the "cute" niche chosen already, you are halfway already!
You are right that the 'cute' niche is pretty broad, so some narrowing down is needed.

Here is how I would approach your niche choosing.
- I would brainstorm about narrower niches. E.g. fluffy keychain hangers ; pink dog sweaters ; cute face cups ; cute toothbrushes ... anything that you think there is a market for and that you would like to dig into.
- then go to google keyword planner and see if there is enough traffic in that niche. If so, you're all set, really ;-)
- then go and follow the certification course with that niche.

Two side notes:
- how much traffic is enough? That's a difficult question to answer, and depends heavily on the niche, the keywords, the profitability of your niche, and probably more factors.
At any rate, for your first site, I wouldn't think too much about monetizing, and more about learning the ropes. In the end you're probably going to make a number of sites anyway!
More importantly: make sure you have fun with your site. That way it's fun to learn ;-)

- regarding the domain you'll be claiming: I wouldn't make your domain as narrow as your narrow niche. Perhaps you can find a domain a little less narrow. You can then focus your site on your narrow niche, but then later you can add other subsections, targeting other sub niches.
The same applies here: in the end you're probably going to make multiple sites, so don't overthink it too much. If you decide later that you have the 'wrong' domain, you can simply claim a new one.

I hope this helps!

Kind regards,
Wouter

Can you think of another phrase to describe your interest? "Cute" could work. Maybe "Chic" is better? I'm not sure exactly what chic means, but there has to be a fashion term for it.

How about your target customer? A 40 year old lady or a 20 year old girl?

From there, your niche is simple!

For example, "Chic fashion for 20-something women" or something like that.

The fact that you have already identified something cute, that you really like, shows good progress.
Imagine a group of people looking out for that thing- that's where you need to focus on
Also, something you will be prepared to write a lot about. All the best.

I would like to delve into a variety of niches. For example, I love food from different parts of the world, sports, trivia games, young adult adventure novels (I'm 46, is that weird?), politics, religion and family life.

What I'm hearing is to dig further into the subject areas and find SPECIFIC topics to promote on the site. How fine do I need to go before it's a viable niche?
Reply
MichaelGB Premium
Pick the Niche that you are most comfortable with, most knowledgeable about and love talking about......

Then narrow it down, for example:
If its mountain climbing, you would narrow it down to a market within mountain climbing like... best foot ware or clothing or maybe the best mountain you experienced etc....you get what I mean. Then, when your website is up and running you can review and promote related products - Amazon is a good place to start.

Hope this helps.

This is my question...
My husband is an incredible Master Goldsmith and for 20+ years we owned a jewelry store, so Custom Designed rings would be right up my alley, however my heart and interest would be with helping 3 of my youngest 7 children improve their focus (they tend to be in the ADHD area of attention issues) so I would love that to be my niche. But I don't understand how I could that produce an income that could keep me home with them having "Focus issues" be my niche?

There are many ways you can optimize that type of blog.
1. Books about the subject.
2. Games/toys to help children improve their attention skills
3. Etsy.com has a huge assortment of items for ADHD, like weighted blankets, training items and support items.
4. Kids clothing
5. Hotels appropriate for travel

I've seen other blogs sharing experiences about this condition, and they can be very successful.

I planned to have my niche be crafts... but now that itself seems to broad. I do sooooooooo many crafts though, and am not sure how to narrow it down when I do so many. Maybe I should try a different niche. I also like the home parties (like tupperware, scentsy, partylite, etc... well, I like buying from them, not necessarily having the parties), but don't know how to narrow that down either. Guess I'm good at picking broad categories, not so much narrowing down!

Blogs are crafts are very popular! I know many affiliates who are making a lot of money from them. Now the newest merchant I know of is EtsyStudio.com, which actually sells craft kits. They are part of Etsy.com, so they have that great name too. If you are that creative that you can teach crafts, you can have a loyal following.

Hi Lodge
My recent learning has been that persons below the age of 25 are less likely to buy online using a credit card. I appreciate that many teenagers have disposable income, but would be concerned to know that they have the means to pay by credit card before deciding on an offer. I guess it would depend on the price level of the offer as well, viz affordability? I don't know if other members already have experience selling to this age group? Best Alan

Hi Naveen.

You are always best to choose a main niche, like your example of "supplements". So your main niche could be "Supplements for health and fitness". And then you will have lots of smaller niche areas that you will target as sub-niches. Using your example above, a great keyword that you could target is "best supplement for pre workout". This keyword alone has very low competition but gets 32 searches per month. Now you might think that 32 searches isn't much, but when you have lots of articles all targeting different sub-niches, those numbers will really start to add up!

Hope that helps.

Great article! I've been trying to niche down for months, but I can't seem to find the right words to describe my group of people, though I know who they are as I have them on my email list :-) So let me explain who they are and see if someone can help.

My whole life has been about living courageously and living a life I felt called to. So I get excited when I awaken that in other women and challenge them to go after their dreams and put themselves out there, and I have a lot of testimonials to prove this.

I also have the skills I've picked along the way that empower them, eg brand building, social networking effectively, photography - so a few skills here. I don't just talk about making changes, but I show how.

Now what is this called? I can't seem to find an appropriate keyword, any help appreciated.

I have an idea, and I've done some research to find that there aren't many travel bloggers who base a website on traveling and living as a couple in an RV. My fiance and I are doing just that, and I would love to make money by keeping a travel journal and advice page for travelers like us. I'm in college, so I can specialize in running a business while going to college and doing an open-ended road trip with my fiance. I can use affiliate links to items we use as we renovate our RV. We also host backpackers from time to time, so I can write about how we make that happen. Any comments or suggestions? I'm also accepting ideas for domain names. Thank you!

I do know a couple of other travel bloggers doing this, but your take would be different than theirs and there's always room for more. I think it's a solid idea, especially with the renovation part and backpackers opportunities. There are a lot of programs you could tie into, including things like TrustedHousesitter.com, LonelyPlanet.com, perhaps someone like LBCModern.com for renovation materials. For a domain name, don't be afraid to be creative - that's quite common with travel sites. Something with "Open Road" or "Two for the" or "Open Skies" as the first part of the name. Go for it!

Hi I dont think you'll be kicked off the system after 6 days.
But continue to follow the training and adding value to yourself is what will come with earning money.

Many people including myself think ahh I will earn such n such and then when I earn money I will go premium for example. But if the money isnt there when they start, what will happen to them?

They'll probably lose hope and give up.
Try not to make money the sole purpose first. make adding value to yourself first then sharing it on your posts and the money ideas will follow suit.
Enjoy yourself whilst creating a post, mostly be yourself dont think you need to be coming across like an expert.

People like to read peoples experienecs about different topics or peoples views on topics of interest.
Hope that helps.

Couple things you could do here - find a merchant that can turn your art into phone covers (I know a couple), create your own Etsy store and point to that (you could also join the Etsy affiliate program and make money from people who came through your link but bought stuff from other stores), or produce your own products and have an inventory of them in all shapes/sizes (that requires a financial investment though).
