My WA Story So Far
Hi, I am at the end of course 2 and this is my first blog post
As it says in my profile, I have been an affiliate marketer for almost five years now, but I have only just discovered Wealthy Affiliate.
Why I do I need WA if I have been doing this for five years? Well, only a fool thinks he knows everything and doesn't need any help.
What have I learned so far? Quite a lot actually.
I have learned some mistakes I have made in the set up of my Wordpress sites.
I have made some mistakes in setting up Google Authorship
I have some domains that have dashes in them and did not know Google have targeted these.
I am creating a new website following the training here at WA to the letter, to see how it goes.
My goals are to continue of my journey toward my ultimate goal which is to earn a full time income on the internet an be able to work whilst sat by the pool in the best hotels in the world.
I will keep you updated
Andy

Hi Andy
Well done for getting so much on your site. You've obviously been making a lot of progress.
Here are some thoughts having had a look at your site:
1. Designers. You need to be consistent over the information you give of each label.
For Gucci, you don't even say what type of clothes they offer and yet for Isaora you start to describe what their 2014 collection is like, as you do with Marc Jacobs. It looks odd.
Don't say "Everyone has heard of Gucci" - someone may come to your site who hasn't. If you're going to say it's worn by 'celebrities' why not give examples?
Try not to confuse people. Calvin Klein is not known as CK. Calvin Klein is the main label, CK Calvin Klein is one of the numerous diffusion lines!
2. About me: - Think this needs editing. Lovely as it is that you have grandchildren I would remove that reference. People want to know about what you and the site can do for them. Check out my recent blog on Mistakes to avoid on About Pages. https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/bis/blog/mistakes-to-avoid-on-your-about-page.
3. Why buy clothes online?. I think it would be if you gave them some examples to illustrates the points you are making. Try not to make assumptions. You tell your readers that the most important thing about buying designer clothes online is the price. It might be for you but for others it might be convenience, it may be the ability to try on clothes in their own home.. etc.
4. Images and captions. You have images but not captions. They help to encourage people to read your text

Hope this helps

Hi Andy, I like your site; it's simple, clean, with nothing to distract from the content. I have been buying online for a number of years. Every since my waist line exceeded 48" the off-the-rack options have diminished. Online offers a very wide selection for us horizontally and vertically challenged weirdos. Good luck to you.
Good luck Andy. Looked at your site. Pretty good and good content. You may want to change the look of your main menu though. Maybe create a sub menu in the sidebar since your menu names are kind of long.

Andy, great to have you here. At WA, there is lots for all to learn whether you are a beginner or skilled. There is something for everyone. May you achieve your goals. Thanks for sharing. Debbie
"I have some domains that have dashes in them and did not know Google have targeted these."
I just bought a domain with dashes, because it was available and had "org" at the end. What's so bad about it?
Luke,
Hi I want to address what I have read about the dashes.
Your domain name has dashes, for the sake of example lets say it says "beautiful -beta- fish" And you have a really great site, one of the best on the internet. Someone tells a friend the name of your site, so the friend comes home and types in beautifulbetafish.org and buys 500 beta fish on the wrong site.
The moral to the story, the friend didn't tell the potential customer to put the dashes in the search query. The customer bought from the wrong site. Because we do things quickly and dashes slow us down.
I don't know about google targeting the dash domains. That would be a question for the experts.
I do know the shorter the domain name 20 characters or less, .com is the best, .org the second. And the simpler you keep it for your potential customers the better.
Hope this helps.
Welcome Andy to the WA University! Learning in this business is a never ending process and here at WA there is a lot to learn. My story is similar to yours - I can relate. Best in 2014.
Brilliant job Andy. I love your niche. Years ago I used to run the tie department in Simpson of Piccadilly. Lovely store, now a Waterstones.
Good luck here Andy! i think that here you will find all you're missing. I'm guessing that you know more than I do but still if I can help in any way, let me know. I checked out your site and I have one thing to say...you're lacking a bit of excitement on your page. I'm a graphic designer so if you need more details, let me know. Always smiling, Litsa
