My Life's Reinvention
In November 2012 my life blew to pieces. I did something silly, that was to have major repercussions. I lost my job, gained a conviction with 100 hours of community service to do, had my car repossessed, lost my house (making a $65,000 loss in the process), was unable to pay another $35,000 worth of debt, endured the embarrassment of a media witch hunt, and finally left the town I loved to get away from my shame. I have been unable to find work since then, despite my conviction being unrelated to my work, and have scraped by on a benefit of $280 a week.
In the early days of my misery I hit a low ebb, and tried to commit suicide by drinking poison one morning. Someone must have been looking over me that day ... it clearly was not my day to go. My flatmate had fallen asleep on the couch that night and for some reason woke up just as I was passing him with the poison and the glass, realized what I was doing and pinned me against the wall to stop me. That day my ex-wife got involved, getting me medical care and the help of a brilliant doctor, Josh. I give credit to Josh for being a real lifesaver, and always there when I needed him over the next year.
It took until early 2014 before my head was in the right place to be able to think about moving forward. At that point I had a really lovely lady, Jo, from a private employment agency working to help me find employment, but despite the herculean effort she put in for me, we were going nowhere. Eventually I had what l know was an excellent interview at a local garage chain ... but their phone call later was yet another no -"it's too soon" I was told.
That statement really got to me, It irked me, probably out of all proportion. And in the process it shocked my long-dormant brain back into action. I decided two things, which were later to become affirmations that I make every day:
- I will get a job - me employing myself
- I can build an online business successfully
I started looking around the net and came across Steve "I've Tried That's" anti-scam website, where he directed me to here ... and that was the first of my two lucky breaks that have led towards my redemption and life rebuilding.
I now had a purpose. Thanks to Kyle and Carson's training (not to mention Jay's videos) I began to learn the skills necessary so I could meet my affirmations; to create an online business and earn money from it.
I also began to meet and make contact with some amazingly skilled and welcoming people on here too. One of these was a lady called Maria, known on here appropriately as ReinventMe. Maria was also looking to go through a life rejuvenation and had made contact with an amazing life coach, Larry Lewis of the Reinvention University. This was to be my second major life change.
I have undertaken three months of life coaching and become a totally changed person ... I learned my passion (the ex-teacher in me wouldn't go away, I still like to help people), I determined my skills, my strengths, my dreams and my goals. I have developed a full action plan, which I review every week with a Mastermind Group of interested and helpful people. In time I will be training to be life coach at the Reinvention University myself.
My passion, as I say, is to help people. So using the skills that I have learned here I have now set up what I call my passion site: http://atruesurvivor.com - I failed in my suicide attempt, nearly two years ago, and have moved on, so I see myself truly as a true survivor. More importantly, though, I want to be able to help the people who visit my site - with hints, tips, ideas and explanations around a number of topics like Personal Finance Survival, Living Survival and Life Coaching Survival - with more to come as the site grows.
I see Wealthy Affiliates and the Reinvention University as the twin pillars of my revival, and I am truly grateful to the two organisations - one gave the skills necessary for my new life, the other the ideas, confidence and motivation.
I welcome anyone to come to http://atruesurvivor.com - it's still early days. You will see that unlike my other sites where I have simply avoided the issue in this site, my passion site, I have been brutally honest in my About Me page, because I feel I truly have to be. This is the start of my new beginning. It is no accident that the symbol of A True Survivor is the pheonix.

I am WOWed Andrew. You are doing very well indeed. Keep your goals ahead, and the past in the past, because we can't change the past. But the future, on the other hand, now that we can do something about. And yes, Maria is truly a special Lady. Here to help. God Bless.
Jon
Thanks for your comments Jon. Yes the future is definitely the way to go. That is where there is hope for better times. I finally got to see Maria on camera at a webinar last night and she is a truly lovely and talented lady
Very nice-looking site. That's quite a story and I'm so glad your flatmate woke up that night. I think you have a LOT to contribute. I fear many are where you have been and they need you. I wish you all the best!
Thanks very much for your nice comments. It was definitely a dark moment, that I am glad I got through.
Hey man that's a deep post, I have been in similar states of mind in the past, lucky to be here too. Just keep moving forward buddy, leave the past in the past and try to take something positive from it. The road past depression is long, yet you have travelled it well to get to this point...The road to success will be just as long and just as difficult, but with the survival spirit and commitment I'm sure you'l achieve your goals.
Great post, best of luck with your project, it's looking good already :)
Thanks very much for the kind comments. You are right about it being a long road past depression, but it's an important journey to take
Your very welcome. I try to inspire people with my posts and activities on here. One thing that helps is just be natural and share who you are, people will be very appreciative of that honesty.
