Hey guys I'm running around in circles here, I need some heavy technical help...I got only 2 days to move 8 sites from WA to a new host.
I don't know how to do a full back
three words my friend >> back up buddy
love it >> use it >> easy as point and click
1 -- install back up buddy
2 -- do a back up >> and download them to you local machine
3 -- go to your new hosting account and set up a data base
4 -- change the DNS
5 -- upload the backup and install php to your root domain
6 -- follow the back up buddy on screen instructions and your away
I reckon I could do all 8 in about 20 mins max ;-)
Need help mate hit me up
My best
Chris
I would have thought your new host would be able to help. I'm about to go through the same process. I have a backup plugin installed on my sites and keep those backups in various locations. My major issues is the email accounts. Despite long explanations from Website support I still haven't worked out how to transfer all that information easily.
It all get very tricky at times doesn't it. I need to do this in a matter of hours, just wish there was an upto date video somewhere so I can crack on, If I come across any simple info to help your email problem i'll throw you an inbox before closing my account :)
Just sorted it. Imported my emails into Outlook by connecting both accounts. You can then export from outlook and import into your new hosting emails once you have created them. I'm on chat with Hostgator at the moment and they say it can take 48hours for the sites to come once the DNS thingiys are changed but can be much quicker. They help with the transfer process and your sites shouldn't be down at all.
so from what you understand, do I have this correct...you change the dns at the original domain registrar and point to the new host...then copy/back up each site with a plug in?
I'm halfway through a youtube video, got to a bit where he said it wont work without the dns sorted.
I'm guessing the plugin gives 2 files which need to go onto my hardrive, but haven't gotten much further yet..just need to know i'm on the right path before trying to wing it by a fluke lol
I will be relying on hostgator to guide me through the process. I need to get my email accounts sorted first. I did it in reverse when I came over to WA hosting. Maybe look at their videos and apply backwards...
I think I've got it sorted so long as the servers are pointed first the file transfer will come second.

aww poo wish I had waited a while. I watched a vid that does is differently now i'm well confused.
I downloaded the duplicator plugin on all 8 sites, copied the install file and back up files into specially created folders on my desktop. I'm ok with that part.
The video shows to then point the dns from original registrar to new host. After propergation period create data base in my slq , name database and create username and password.
then it all get a bit tricky, going to url/installer.php
installing the installer files, test connection, run deployment, save perma links and delete root file and it should be up and running.
(Does this sound about right up to now? it's too late to start over and use backup buddy)
Only problem I really have amongst being properly confused by terminology of slqs and databases, I have no idea how to use 123 reg hosting platforms..it's more complex than some others i have seen.
It's not too late if the websites are still up and running on siterubix (WA servers) and campervanjunkies.com is still there. Try again starting with backing up to your computer and follow the instructions from cjholloway and me but don't create installations of WordPress on your new host. Ignore the video and take the advice of your friends, much less complicated. You don't need sql and all the bits you said after "then it all get a bit tricky". Good luck and good night from me in Oz.
One more thing; you're going to need to know the usernames and passwords to get into the WordPress admin area. If that's not possible then you'll have to use cPanel hosting and install WordPress on each site and you'll have to use a different backup plugin or the Export and Import functions in the dashboard. Good night.
If the sites are still live mate you can install backup buddy no problem - tip - do one at a time that way you only have to pay for one license :-)

Hey everyone, this may sound like a totally silly question. If so I apologise.
I'm not a big amazon fan to be honest, so have avoided them for the past 6 months. Now I have
Sean, I think they clearly state you can't have different accounts, but you can use your same affiliate link for other sites. I believe I remember seeing this. Their rules are quite overwhelmingly long and extensive. Hope this helps, try emailing them. There's a link at the bottom of the page when you are in the associates site.
Kim:))
I just went searching in Amazon Associates because it got me to thinking. Here's the definitive rule from them which is, basically, you only need one account but if you want to track separately, you should get separate IDs.

Your question got me to thinking, Sean, as I don't make much with them, but I don't put up high-ticket items either. I do better with Adsense for my needs.
Managing Multiple Web Sites
You don't have to have multiple Associates accounts if you have multiple Web sites--you can use a single Associates ID across all of them, and easily view reports of their combined activity. But if you want to measure each site's individual performance, you can contact Associates Customer Service and request a unique Tracking ID for each one. They'll all be linked to your master Associates ID, so you can view your information in a variety of ways.
That is right from the amazon site"

Cool, I was worried because I did try to register my ganja site at first and was denied...probably because it was objectionable content in their eyes. I also have a couple political sites that they might not like, so I'm being cautious in my approach to amazon.
I need to get some of my sites earning so I can sell them on, amazon is the obvious answer because most people trust them.
thanks for your help man :)
I believe you can use them anywhere once you have an account. My Amazon Affiliate account is under my Ms. Atlantic City blog; however, I regularly use it on Very Dressy Flats and my book review site. I think you can only have one account, but can use it where you wish.
I tried doing that, but I don't think you can. I ended up making a new email just so I could get amazon associates for a second site I was working on.

Anyone having problems with WA Keyword Tool?
It keeps loading, no matter how many times I refresh or start my search again. Earlier it even came up with related search terms
I've had problems with jaaxy here this morning. It's been taking ages to do anything and then comes up with answers other than my original search!
I just tried to do 2 searches and it worked well. I hope you will solve this difficulty. Have a blessed day.
Hilda
I only use it once in awhile, to check Jaaxy Most results are good. It DOES tend to run slow. Keep at it, Sean!
Been using it throughout the last 10 hours...only thing is it has been slow...nothing else. Sorry to hear.

What do clouds wear under their shorts?
Thunder Pants
Very funny. We all need a bit a humor in the so serious fast-paced world. Still lol, looking up searching for the pants. ^_~

Actually, I like all of them. I'm just bustin' your chops a bit, as we say in the states (with other not-so-nice variations). It means teasing. Love to get my giggles in during the day. You make me happy with these, Sean!
you're so polite, bustin chops lol I know what you meant. if we cant have a giggle when working away there'd be no point doing it says me :)

What do you call a pig that does karate?
A Pork Chop
I knew it was you as soon as I read the headline. You are always good for a chuckle, Sean. You brighten my day. ~Marion
Want a good healthy Pork Chop full of Chi energy to build you up, Chi Gong style? Just light taps, at first with a hunger for it, in the belly. Maybe in a year or so of desire and preparation, a solid pork chop in the belly will hit the spot and feel good all over. MMM love it!
