What’s Wealthy Affiliate Like? #3 A Braided River

I just finished a post for one of my blogs a few days ago in which I likened the Wealthy Affiliate training to a braided river.

The more I think about it, though, the symbolism becomes stronger and broader. It's not just the training that is like a braided river. It is the entire platform.

Like any river it starts at the headwaters. Thanks to Kyle and Carson scaling the peaks of understanding and discovering the source of making money online through affiliate marketing we now have Wealthy Affiliate. And as they shared their processes through the website they created a river of knowledge. A river of knowledge that people came to drink from and bathe in immersing themselves in the learning that was on offer.

This training was but one channel of the river that is Wealthy Affiliate. And that channel splits in two. One of the braids is the Online Entrepreneur Certification and the other is the Affiliate Bootcamp.

Where the braids cross each other on the way to the sea these are the areas that are common to both. Areas that include building out websites whether for a niche or for marketing the Wealthy Affiliate opportunity; social media; keywords and SEO.

Yes, we need to follow and apply the training and at the same time build out the content on our site and optimize it for SEO.

Live Chat weaves itself through the training as it provides a channel to mentor newbies in their journey. It is also a great channel for fostering the community aspects of Wealthy Affiliate.

As I thought about niches the idea of a side stream entered my consciousness. I remember from my hiking days following a stream down the side of mountain. Because the stream inhabits a valley there’s very little to see until you get to the place where it meets the main branch of the river.

It’s specific to the valley just like your niche is specific to the certain group of people interested in it.

The main branch of the river is the Wealthy Affiliate platform. When you follow your side stream to the main branch you can tap into the flow of the different braids of the river. I mentioned the two training braids and there are other training opportunities woven through as well.

There are three channels of membership – starter, premium and premium plus. Each has its own training prospects. The starter is limited, the Premium gains traction with its training and the Premium Plus really adds the icing to the cake.

The website builder and site management create another channel in the river. Around these the site content, comments, feedback, and email weave their threads through these channels. As we make our way down the river, we use each of these channels as is necessary for the journey.

And WordPress itself, our Content Management System, is another channel with the plugins we use on our website woven through it and providing the functions we require for our user experience.

As in any great river we have rapids. There are times when I'm caught up in the inspiration of producing content for my blogs or connecting and helping in the community and the work goes fast and develops momentum.

And then we have the slower moments when the river just carries us along at a gentle pace and we get to appreciate the scenery and smell the flowers along the way. Times when we're happy to meander at the pace of the river.

Another branch to the Wealthy Affiliate river of knowledge is Jaaxy. It is the go-to source of inspiration when we’re looking for keywords to our ranking on any of the search engines, Google, Bing, Yahoo, Duck Duck Go, etc. A spot in the river where we can dip our toes in Alphabet Soup, and brainstorm ideas for posts and websites.

Weaving through all of this is the support offered by not only Wealthy Affiliate staff but also the community. You’ll find inspiration in some of the blog posts, answers to queries when you post questions, or get responses to them in LiveChat which is always on 24/7.

As the river gets closer to the sea often deltas form as the silt transported by the river reaches the push back from the sea. These deltas are some of the most fertile areas for both plant life and animal life. They become centres for trade and commerce. Some of the great cities are centred around a delta.

The home page of Wealthy Affiliate reminds me of a delta as a centre of trade and commerce. Even though we can’t make any financial gains by using the home page, we can make intellectual gains through the learning we receive. Ideas become the currency we share, and inspiration is the coin of the Wealthy Affiliate realm.

Living on the Delta we encompass all of what we learn as we navigate the river of knowledge as well as having the waves of the sea of universal wisdom touching our shores.
