The best targeted website traffic

Today I wanted to share something with you that I think a lot of people get misled by. We all know that traffic is the key to success online, but what makes the difference between good traffic and bad traffic? The answer is simply to target your audience. Believe it or not, you don’t need a lot of traffic to make money online within any niche. But you do need to find the best targeted website traffic for your promotions.
You may have already learned that producing really good content on a regular basis is one of the elements that Google is looking for. If you continue to produce content that targets keywords on an ongoing basis, then eventually (depending on your competition) you will get higher google rankings.
But here’s the thing…
What happens when you start getting traffic to your site? Is your content good enough to convert into sales? Are you answering the questions and needs of the people within your niche?
Do you need a ton of traffic in order to make sales?
Some people are under the impression that in order to make a lot of money online that you need a lot of traffic. In fact I have seen many websites that boast about the amount of traffic they get on a daily basis. Traffic in mass volumes is fantastic, but only if a lot of those people are buying customers. You can have all the traffic in the world but it’s quite pointless if none of those people make you any money. We are all here to make money and results are what we are really looking for.
Good traffic Vs Bad
There are tons of websites online that sell cheap traffic, but most of the time it’s absolutely useless. You can spend all day blasting adverts out to social networks and targeting totally random people, again totally useless most of the time. Sure, you might make the odd sale here and there on Facebook, YouTube or Twitter. But targeting mass random people makes your business more like sheer luck.
How do you find the best targeted website traffic?
You can have great results by targeting low competition keywords, but what about those pages that don’t make it onto the first page of Google? It’s an unfortunate fact that not everyone is going to get all of their articles on the front page of the search engines.
So what can we do to help ourselves? How do you find the best targeted website traffic for your website? The answer is within the question itself and its simply targeting.
To a certain degree a good volume of articles on your website targeted to your particular niche will automatically help you find targeted traffic within the search engines. However, this will only go so far. Plus, we all know that it can sometimes it can take quite a long time to get pages ranked highly within the search engines. It’s great when we get free targeted traffic from the search results but there are other ways of getting immediate results too.
The answer is targeted traffic!
The answer is to take a good look at both your content and the people that need your products or services. It’s pointless having tons of people arrive at your website if they have no interest in what you have to say.
If you own a website about fishing, you need to get out there and find out where the people interested in fishing hang out online. If you have a website about fashion, you need to find out the best sites, discussion boards, top blogs and forums. If you have a site that sells rock climbing gear, you wouldn’t talk about it on an internet marketing forum, right? But yet that’s what many of us are actually doing in a sense.
A lot of us are simply shooting in the dark and hoping for the best. Sometimes this method can work, but actually getting involved with the people that are interested in what you have to offer is the best way to get quick results and returning visitors.
You could spend all day sending out tweets on Twitter about how great your site is, but do you know who’s actually reading your messages? Is your audience targeted?

Are you finding your targeted audience?
If you are not sure if your audience is truly targeted then the answer is to put yourself in the shoes of your customers. Where do they go for information? Google might be the first answer that springs to mind, but I’m talking about after they make a Google search. Where are your customers hanging out online? What forums do they go to? What are the most popular online sites? These places online are not necessarily your competition, but online goldmines.
When you find out where your customers are located, you then need to put yourself within that community. This will serve you in a couple of ways…
The benefits of being in the middle of the action
Firstly, by being a part of the sites, forums, social networks and communities within your niche you will start to hear about all kinds of things that those people are interested in. This will of course give you some great material to write about within your blog. Secondly, when you have written about something that is of interest to that niche community you should then be sharing that content in as many places as possible within your niche. It’s possible to share links on forums and chat rooms sometimes, so take advantage of this.
Of course you can always share your content on the most popular social networks to get immediate traffic. But what we want is targeted traffic and in order to get the best targeted website traffic from social networks we need to get involved within that community too, rather than just sharing to random people.
Take Twitter for instance…
It’s pointless trying to sell a dog training product to lots of other people that are also trying to sell dog training products. However, if you find someone on Twitter that is successful within your niche and has lots of followers then the people to target are the people that are following that niche itself.
Sometimes we just need to drill down a little to find the people that we need to see our websites. Getting involved, becoming more social, answering questions and sharing links to great content will give you an edge on the competition. It also increases your presence and creates a name for yourself and your online brand if you have one.
Finding your target audience might seem harder than just shooting in the dark and hoping for the best. But the question is, do you want good results or do you just want to continue shooting in the dark?
Proof that the best targeted website traffic converts into sales!
As I said right at the beginning of this article, you don’t need a lot of traffic to make sales. In fact I want to prove to you exactly what I mean.
Take a look at this…
The following screenshot is taken from a product that took me around 6 hours promote.

I wrote an article which took about 2 hours to write. Around 2 hours per day over a further two days was spent simply promoting the article that I had written.
As you can see, I didn’t get a lot of traffic at all to this offer at all. In fact I’m sure that some people would laugh at the fact that I only got 18 visitors to this offer after spending 6 hours promoting it. But the difference here is that not only did I target the keywords within my article for future Google rankings, but I also targeted the traffic coming to this article for immediate results. $297 isn’t a bad result for 6 hours work, I make that just under $50 per hour. Of course the amount that you make will vary based on the product that you are promoting. But I just wanted to show you this as an example of how targeted traffic gets results. It’s far better to have 18 targeted visitors that are looking to buy a product than a thousand visitors that aren’t interested.
You are on the right tracks, but do you need to go the extra mile?
You are doing the right thing by learning the best way to make an online business, by following the guidance of Wealthy Affiliate. However, every one of our websites and blogs are different. We all have different niches, different interests and we all use different styles of getting our message across to our audience. It’s what makes us all unique and the essence of what makes your website unique.
Chances are if you are creating great content just like Wealthy Affiliate teaches you, then you will have chosen a great niche and there will no doubt be lots of people that are waiting to discover your content. By getting involved with the community and the people that make up the niche that you want to build your business around, you will have gone the extra mile in finding targeted traffic.
You can keep on targeting keywords and sharing your content socially, this process will serve you well. But sometimes going the extra mile is what it takes to really achieve great success. Sometimes you need to look further than the instructions set out in front of you. You need to think outside the box and become a leader within your niche subject. It’s part of becoming an authority within your subject and it’s what will set you apart from everyone else.
I wish you a great and productive day. Happy targeting!
Andrew
PS - UPDATE October 2016
Just as a bit of an update to this post and just to prove how things can pan out if you go for the best targeted web traffic that you can get. The sales that I showed in this post have continued to pay out in very small amounts since writing this post back in August. 2 months on and those same 18 visitors that you saw in the image above have made a few more tiny purchases, making me an extra $58.50.

Not bad for a small amount of targeted traffic!
