In love with Adsense x

Last Update: April 20, 2015

Yes, it's official I'm in love with google adsense!

I have made $15 thus far and I only launched my site on March 11......I know it doesn't sound like much but it's proving to me that this thing works and people are clicking on those ads. I only have 2 adsense ads going at the present time and feel like that is enough for me as I have other affiliate products on there (no reviews yet, so a slap on the wrist for me lol)

I can really see the potential here and it's exciting to think that as my traffic increases so will the number of clicks. At the present time I go up and down in numbers, some days I have 20 people other days I may have 10, one day 100 people came by (who knows how that happened?) I even had 2 people once, but it just goes to show that people are clicking. I have read all the averages and graphs and they mean diddly squat as i've never been one for maths, but so far I have had 1000 impressions on my site which has generated $15, I don't know what the average is here, but I'm guessing that would increase with more views?

But I am keeping that commitment of adding 1 post per week as I only have 9 posts but am steadily climbing. Making sure I get comments, adding back links, making sure that the content is up to scratch and staying on target in general.

I hope this can inspire the newbies out there and if you haven't put any affiliate links in yet then take a look at adsense. You can somewhat control what kinds of ads are shown in there, for example you're not going to take a look at my site and see a buxom lady inviting you to join a dating service as I have specified that I don't want particular ads like that in my site. What you will see, is ads with subjects that you are interested in as google looks into what you are looking at and chooses ads which might tempt you.

My mother for example was looking at my site and noted how there was an ad for cruising in there. And yes, my mother loves cruising so it was quite fitting for her........she doesn't know much about the law of attraction (as that is what my site is about) but the ad for cruising caught her eye. And this is where adsense can help as people may wind up at your site and not be interested in what you have to say, but an ad may just grab their attention.

Google adsense may not be for everyone but it may be something for anyone who is feeling a bit down about their site and may want to generate a few clicks. It's nice to log on and see that you may of made $1.28 here or 0.25 cents there, it may be just the thing to help motivate you to keep moving forward.........the sky is the limit :o)

Hi

I am having trouble installing adsense. I have followed directions and placed the code on a widget on my website. but nothing has happened so far. Is there some simple information about installing it please as I find their instructions very confusing as I not very technical. Thanks.

This is some easy training to follow, give it a try and if you get stuck let me know. :) I should add, you don't see ads there straight away. if you give me the link to your site I can check if you've got the code in correctly.

Thanks very much Kathy. Here is the link to my site www.allessentialwealth.com. I know it takes a couple of days for the ads to show up but I THINK! I put the code in on Sunday. I will have a look at the training and try again

I can see the frame there ready to receive the ads, I'll check again in a few hours to see if it's been populated. :)

Check to make sure you don't have an ad blocker on your browser. That will stop you seeing it. I have an ad blocker on my main browser (Chrome) but keep Internet Explorer without so I can see ads from members here.:)

This is what I see http://screencast.com/t/rWa9YMh5a3

Sorry to sound so stupid but how do I find out if I have an ad blocker. You are obviously very accomplished with websites. I am still learning!!

What browser are you using?

As I said, I am not very tech savvy. Does Google Chrome sound right? If so, that is what it is!!

That's right, Google Chrome! To check if you have an ad blocker, click on the 3 lines to the top right underneath the cross. Choose "more tools" then extensions. Here you'll see a list of extra "add ons" you've got in your browser.

Thanks a lot Kathy. I have learnt a lot from you! It's easy when you know how isn't it! However I have another query please. When I go into "Extensions", I can't see anything about "add ons", Nearly there I hope!! Still can't see the adsense stuff on my site either.

This is a screenshot of what the add ons look like in extensions. You can see the ad blocker at the top of the list. Have a scroll down the list on your extensions and see if there's anything like that. http://screencast.com/t/gxSmTyhCmOd
The other thing you can do is check your site in another browser like Internet Explorer. :)

Thanks. All I have is a Pin-it button on extensions. I tried to take a screenshot but that didn't work either!! It does say "Get more extensions" and there are a few things on that I can add, including an ad blocker. I also checked my site on internet explorer and couldn't see any ads on there. Maybe I have to wait a couple more days?? I would contact Adsense but there are no contact details - only an FAQ section.

Hey, checked your site. Loved it. And your art. I subscribed to Mind Movies in the past and am interested in your review. It didn't open. A work in progress, perhaps? (I have plenty of those.)

Very nice... i had an adsense back then i made a few dollars. Sadly, i was one of those that google changes damage so be good with your account, Amber.

You should only use your account with sites you built, as a precaution.

Congrats!

Thanks for the advice Wayne, did you use your account to put Adsense on other sites? I'm very new to this and don't want to rock the boat with big brother

We hear a bit of pros and cons for adsense. Because of this blog I will now explore it for myself.

Hi there Helen, I have looked at a few sites around the place and I can see how Adsense might not work on their site. The WA themed sites have a lot of sub headings, graphs, stat boxes and the like so an ad may get lost say if it's floating around in the centre etc.

The niche blog roll sites on the other hand can blend the ads well that are mainly composed of writing with a picture or 2 to break it up. I suppose you could play around with the ads and see what looks more appealing......it's free and there's nothing to lose :o)

How have you only got 9 posts and have already generated $15 ?!! What is your secret method to this?! lol I have 30 posts and have made $0 yet when I use both Adsense and Amazon affiliate links! That's amazing that you've already made money, congrats!
I've went through all the training and everything, don't think I'm doing anything wrong...
Reply
AmberSubaki Premium
I just looked on your site via my I phone and could not see any ads when I scrolled down?
Reply
TimBartrum Premium
Yeah that's cos I've set it to display the sidebar only on desktop to make it easier for visitors. You have less space on mobile so the sidebar (which has the adsense on) is hidden on mobile. Try it on desktop and you will see the ads.
I also have ads on content posts which aren't reviews. On my review posts I don't display ads because they are monetized by affiliate links instead.

Well doen Amber -one of my sites has been going for a few months and nothing from Adsense yet! I do only have the 1 ad running, though, Glyn.
Reply
AmberSubaki Premium
They do say you may need to add another to make it work, I think that is shown on "their" site health performance not the WA one. Keep it up though, people should start clicking through

Hi Amber, thank you for your post, in fact, i'm also using Adsense since last year, and i'm getting about 150 visitor per day, but 1000 impressions does not makes me that much ($15) ! i only make about $1 per 1000 visitors (about 8 of them click on the Ad) .

So i'm curious to know how to make more money with the same 1000 impression, this is my wbensite in case yo want to check:

From what I understand of it, certain ads are worth more? I am faaaar from being an expert on anything technical and wouldn't understand how it works as reading graphs make my head spin, I have enough trouble trying to understand stats.

But wow, 150 people a day is amazing..........well done!

You might just have encouraged me to have another look at Adsense. I have avoided it up until now as I really don't want irrelevant ads popping up on my site as I know how much they annoy me when I am visiting sites. I am pleased to see there is some sort of control as to what type of ads you have. Thanks for this. Wendy.

I tend to write posts that are around 1000 words or so. I do break them up with little pictures etc but they are kind of written in story form. The adsense ads that are placed in there are tailored to fit in such as size etc......they kind of blend in and that's what you too should aim for.
Reply
wendai Premium
When you say that is what I should aim for, do I get to choose exactly what to show on my site? Thanks. Wendy.

Yes, that includes size and colour of text and the like
